This rhythm from the Ghostbusters theme will break your brain
How did the Ghostbusters theme song become a number 1 hit? Maybe it has something to do with that wailing funk siren on the bridge - and the cool 4-over-3 polyrhythm it plays against the beat. In this video we break down that rhythm and why it's so effective.

How to use a #11
zhlédnutí 2,7KPřed 8 měsíci

Did Camille Saint-Saëns actually write the bagel bites theme?
zhlédnutí 315Před 8 měsíci
What does the tango have to do with the bagel bites theme song? How about a rockabilly hit from the ‘50s? Was it actually written by French romantic composer Camille Saint-Saens? Follow us down the rabbit hole! I swear this is not promotional. We’re just really nerdy and nostalgic for the ‘90s. You can call it cheesy, you can even call it doughy, but this bite-sized melody packs one heck of a p...
Why is this piece of music so influential?

*Become a Soundfly Member: soundfly.com/subscription Hans Zimmer's piece "Journey to the Line" from Terence Malick's The Thin Red Line influenced an entire generation of film scores and the sound of modern Hollywood. The Altered Scale Explained (and Why It Breaks All the Rules)
zhlédnutí 672Před 8 měsíci
*Become a Soundfly Member: soundfly.com/subscription How can one musical scale break all the rules, and yet still have the ability to create tension, exotic colors, jazziness, and dreaminess? Today we're dissecting the theory behind the Altered Scale, and why it's such a wonderful partner for dominant chords. When used correctly, it can add so much magic and mysteriousness to otherwise straight...

The drama and magic of pedal tones
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 9 měsíci
*Become a Soundfly Member: tinyurl.com/yv2kedua Change is overrated. At least when it comes to employing a Pedal Tone technique. The effect of every note in your progression changing while the bass tones just hover is infectious and dramatic. In fact, there's nothing quite as mysterious as a progression that is both moving forward and staying the same at the same time - when paired with lyrics ...
A short-ish guide to cadences
zhlédnutí 3,5KPřed 10 měsíci
Why do you need to know about cadences? (Why does anybody need to know about anything?) Well, that's simple: because cadences can make YOUR music sound BETTER! In fact, cadences are responsible for musical passages sounding more "complete" - or resolved, like we've finally returned back home - or they can help the end of a passage lead curiously into the next. The farther away from home we trav...

Super awesome! Thanks. I will be using this.
great video thx
What program is he using?
Ultrafiche is so fire 🔥
A terrific, even comprehensive overview in less than 20 minutes. A truly fine job.
love her accent
All good information . . . it goes without saying that extraneous and off topic chit-chat and NOODLING is strictly off the menu.
Why did you commit so hard to throwing a sandwich on the synth!! It couldn't have been worth it man, all I can think of is cleaning up the mess lol
Came for the info, stayed for Holst!
She's hot 🥵
This is so great, happy to see that this video is up for everyone to see!!
Woah. Love her! Great video. Cheers 🍻
How can I get a reference track/mix into my DAW? 🙏🏼 🙏🏼
Beauty 💖🧚♂️👍
I’m a independent artist and I’m trying to go on tour next summer and this was helpful
What a gift! In the shortest video ever you explained so much. Super clear, super useful. Thank you, thank you.
It’s like swing but for more than one instrument?
Never seen prettier eyebrow in my life. 😍
Tysm you just saved me from my 5th grade Music homework
Thank you ❤ so much this helped me with scales
that sweatshirt hasn't aged well
The power of sound inherit in the alphabet is really what makes communication easier. Cos, music is one thing, speech is another...but understanding the two, is silence 🤐 ....The tempo between music and speech . In other words, "God's language is Silence and everything else becomes Irrelevant...then only can we understand...Which doesn't often happen in real life. 😊😅😂.
I appreciate your Australian twang Luv....😊😅😂
Discovering his music was a revelation for me almost 12 years ago. He found the sound of my soul.
Same here. There is only one Com Truise.
I can't prove a word she's saying. All I can prove from this video is that she's oblivious to what big hoop ear rings mean in the hood.
there are some really interesting books on your shelf
The strength of the song is the lyrics and emotion delivery of the vocals. The breakup song hit a nerve. Take away the vocals and the instrumental sounds like a weird slow novelty song.
This is so awesome
I would be interested for her to do a duet with another male artist singing "Summer Wine" .
This is so beautiful...thanks for giving your art to world Kimbra, love u so much 🖤
Kimbra is such a natural, not just as a singer, but in front of the cameras she just shines !!
Vows is great but The Golden Echo is underrated as hell
Insanely beautiful and talented ❤
She kinda looks like Chris Hemsworth's sister
I'm gonna build a better band men called the sixth sense men.
Fucking timeless.
Great video, but that background music is disturbing when one is trying to hear what you say
Presumably she’s ditched Balenciaga by now…
I love Kimbra. She is interesting. Her music is a journey of exploration using voice, style, and a sense of vision. Thank you @Kimbra.
She is an absolute treasure and talented artist much loved
She is awesome.
Watched an interview of her at 21 and now, talk about that American-esque accent she has now.
Smart, talented, interesting, creative.
Genius....
Kimbra is absolutely beautiful
