I am a woman. I come from a family of women abusers. Women physically, mentally ,verbally and spiritually abusing men and children . Coercive control … all of it. Parental alienation. And it was really horrific. My mom and my sister and from what my Nanna told me, her mom did it too. It was serious even knives being used to threaten and twice even made contact with the victims flesh. My niece was injured by a knife once from trying to step in between my sister and her bf. Authorities were involved and my niece was removed from the home. The women all claim to be the victim. Listening to the Amber tapes made me physically ill and really triggered the trauma that I had thought was laid to rest. It was so much like what my mom and sister do. It saddens me that people aren’t able to use their reasoning skills to understand this. I am by no means downplaying that men do it too. I am aware that historically speaking men have been doing it and getting away with it for eons. I’ve even experienced it myself ( I probably got into that very situation from being in and witnessing abuse as a child) It’s okay to question things and use discernment before we believe everything. Also what people don’t understand is that sometimes after years of abuse the victim just snaps and has reactive abuse. It’s commonly not often but can happen occasionally especially after a round of constant attacks. Usually verbal and slam banging around the house . The abuser then pounces on that and uses that to claim “ see “ you’re the one with the problem. The victim gets gaslit and starts to lose their sense of self. The victim also has a lot of self doubt and feels terrible afterwards. It’s a never ending spiral of madness. After getting out these people usually never have these issues again . But you’ll find that the true abuser repeats with various victims over and over again.
