Got one love it!!
I just ordered the 60 I'm convinced it's the better of the two. It has a little more twang to it.
I think that must be the one because that’s the only CW with a mahogany back sides that we ever had! I’m glad you’re loving it !
Nice picking. I think that’s my guitar? I bought it used from a dealer in California, but Collings said it was originally shipped to your store at the end of 2020. Do you recall the serial number?
I like the Gilchrist the best !
What about fingerpicked?
Wow, I didn’t expect to like the 20 that much more.
What gauge strings do you reccomand for this guitar?
light
Such a great tone for a more affordable banjo, even for bluegrass. I am considering the fretless version myself! Well played sir.
What is this song called?
John Henry
A lot of this has to do with the mic used to record and your system for listening to CZcams (speaker, headphones, etc). But the Mango was very noticeably different in tone.
What bridge is on that banjo?
Sampson
I have a D18 but want the E1D as a backup guitar… is it much much smaller then a D18?
It’s about the same size actually. They’re both dreadnought.
@@PennyLaneMusicEmporium thank you.
Every player seems to get a different tone from these Waterloo's
I just bought a pre owned 60bg and I’m honestly shocked by the tone and volume coming from this thing. The low end is huge but the being mahogany the kids and highs are right there with it. Kudos Alvarez
I personally think this would be better if it was 70 then 60, repeated. By the time the 60 comes in it’s difficult to remember what the 70 sounded like… just saying…
I just bought one of these and they are flawless. If you can get one for under 4 grand, do it.
I have an ukulele with pin machine tuners like in your video, and I don't really like it because it can be too sensitive when tuning. Can I replace it with a different tuner? If so, which would you suggest? Thank for your time. Kind regards
Hi! You can certainly replace them but please keep in mind that the holes and the screws may not match so to have the work done by a professional is definitely recommended. There are many brands of geared tuners, some of them are closed gear, some other open. They’re all good. Schaller and Grover or Gotoh are all great brands. If you’re local in Fort Lauderdale, you can come and see it and we can take a look at the ukulele and discuss further.
Great comparison between the materials. If I would only have one guitar it would be an OM with spruce top and mahogany back. Luckily I can have more than one ! :D Loved the sound of both !
Beautiful guitar and playing
Thank you, this helped me fix my mom's old ukulele
Very nice
Why does the MD70BG sound..'nasally' with strumming? MD60 it is!
Definitely the 70 has more articulated notes. Louder. Cuts better.
Sounds Great
I have one that I bought two years ago to replace my 1919 Gibson A0 that developed a soundboard crack that suddenly worsened after a string change. I hate to say that I'm glad my Grandfather's mandolin broke, but ... well, this one is better in so many ways. Great sustain, beautiful tone, a joy to play, and yes, it is a pretty mandolin with the black top. And the detail is excellent if not quite flawless.
Can't tell which I like better! Rosewood is definitely more scooped in the mids while the Mahogany is mid-forward, which is to be expected! Both are equally balanced and volume seems to be roughly the same. Mine will live in a studio and one comment here says the mahogany is preferrable for recording. In my 12 years experience running sound for live shows weekly here in Nashville, I agree I do tend to have a much easier time with mahogany acoustics, but that's via pickup systems. Still, maybe the same logic can apply to studio recording.
this is from a review just a few comments donw it says the ooposite of you lol ''This interesting. The R has way more low mids and mids, but is a little less loud, and the M is scooped with much less mids, a bit more low, and chime-ier top end, at least to my ears.'' its funny how we all hear things differently lol
Need.a Left Handed one!
Looking for that exact banjo. Love the blonde Scruggs model.
Whats the name of the song you are playing? :)
no song in particular, just going thru some common banjo licks... But feel free to put some melody and lyrics if you like :)
sounds great
I own 5 alvarez guitars. 3 are Yairi's which are a step above. My first guitar that would stay in tune was an Alvarez 5043 back in about 1974. I still have it today, and it still sounds pretty good. For the money, Alvarez is hard to beat, although there are more and more affordable good guitars these days. I'm looking forward to playing one of the new Laureate models. All solid woods. Rosewood, ebony, sitka spruce, and bone nut and saddle. They went back to a more traditional bridge. I never could get used to the new style bridge. About $1400.
Nice job, thanks! I have their A model and like it a lot!
#1 Gibson, #2 Hinde #3 Gilchrist
You saved my night! I just changed strings for the first time, and then the C-string friction tuner did not want to stay stable ... THANKS for the quick tip!
I love that second melody you played. Is it an old fiddle tune or something else?
Saint Ann’s Reel. Thank you
Overall, I like the Gilchrist best, but it sounds like the tuning needed tweaking for the strummed part. I think that it is a very good comparison video.
Great sounding A-5 there. NF are doing good work filling the niche that Collings has left open.
Sounds great, and well priced, too.
Sounds really nice. So calm and mellow with the string tone
Where is the KNA pickup made? Thanks.
Запись с эффектом ревербирации или легкого эха?
Звук записан только в микрофон?
Nice and nice Banjo. I have one like it.
Beautiful ukulele and playing. If anyone knows what is the name of the song please?
I bought my md60bg from pennylane. Plays like the wind and has a nice full sound. Plays easier than my 5000 dollar martin. Don't buy from online warehouses, they don't humidify properly. My experience with pennylane is the keep the humidity spot on. Also they have great techs to set it up perfectly. They shipped it to me from florida to newhampshire, it was in perfect condition and sounds great
Thank you! We are all glad you had a good experience with us at Penny Lane Music Emporium! Enjoy!
i think the screw is stripped on mine...
I just bought a MD60EBG (has a pickup). Very nice guitar. Goes well with my DY40.
Surprisingly similar tone. The E10 with perhaps a tad more sweetness at fingerstyle. Hog and RW often sound very different , but not so in this demo. I like them both and they both seem very versatile.
This five hundred dollar guitar punches way above its cost and as good sounding, materials and craftsmanship as some other costing 5 times it's price. BTW You should move a bit closer to the mike!
