Teo: And ready, set, GO! Oh hello, I’m Teo, and I’m here with Humpty.
Humpty: Hello!
Teo: We’re zooming toy cars today. And Humpty is the winner with the fastest car crossing the finish line first.
Humpty: Can we race again? Can we, Teo?
Teo: Of course, Humpty. Start your engines…
Humpty: Vroom vroom!
Teo: Ready… set…
[shuffling sound]
Teo: Ooh! Did you hear that?
[rattling and pulling sounds]
Humpty: It doesn’t sound much like our cars moving, Teo.
Teo: It sure didn’t, Humpty. What do you listening think could have made that sound? It sounded a little rattly at first, then a tap, pull.
Humpty: Teo, could we pause our next race and try and find what’s making the noise?
Teo: That’s a great idea, Humpty. Cars down, listening ears on!
Humpty: Ears On!
Teo: Off we go!
[Theme music]
Teo: So, a rattle pull sound! Do you have any ideas what it could be, Humpty?
Humpty: Could it be a baby playing with a rattle whilst its parent pushes it in a stroller?
Teo: Could be, Humpty! Though I haven’t seen any babies at Play School today. Do you know what does rattle… Maracas!
Humpty: Oh I love them with cheese for afternoon tea. Yum!
Teo: That’s close Humpty, but not crackers, maracas. Maracas are a musical instrument, and you shake them around to make noise.
Humpty: Oh yeah! A-shake-a-shake-a-shake.
Teo: Shall we go to the music box and see if that’s where the noise was coming from?
Humpty: You bet!
[Musical interlude]
Teo: Here we are and look, it’s Miah! Hi Miah!
Miah: Hi Humpty, hi Teo.
Humpty: Hello Miah!
Miah: What are you doing at the music box?
Teo: We’re investigating a mysterious rattle pull sound and thought it might have been someone shaking the maracas.
Miah: Ah very interesting, Teo, well it wasn’t me. I was just playing with the tambourine, which sounds like this.
[tambourine sound]
Teo: Hmmmm that’s a lovely sound but it wasn’t the one we’re after.
Miah: No worries. Let’s see if it was the maracas… Here we are!
[sound of maracas shaking]
Teo: Hmmmmm that wasn’t quite it, I’m afraid.
Humpty: It’s a great sound though!
Miah: Sure is, the maracas are one of my favourite instruments, because you really get to move your body when you shake them.
Teo: Can I have a go, Miah?
Miah: Of course!
[sound of maracas shaking]
[sound of tapping]
Teo: Did you hear that?
Miah: I did. What an interesting tapping sound.
Teo: And it’s coming from the same direction as the rattle pull noise.
Humpty: Let’s follow it, Teo.
Teo: Great idea, Humpty. I’m going to hold on to the maracas for good luck. Seeya, Miah!
Miah: Bye Teo! Bye Humpty!
[musical interlude]
Teo: Humpty, we’ve got a very noisy mystery today… What rattles, pulls and taps?
Humpty: Oh maybe it is a baby shaking its rattle in one hand, and tapping a spoon on a table with the other, because it wants some breakfast?
Teo: Hmmm… could be…
