Hello lovely I'm pretty sure you said you have a video on where to buy... I'm UK.. And tried to find the video but it's not in your video description and can't see it in your 99 videos uploaded.. Thanks for this though!! Thinking of getting my first Hobo.. I want a Weeks Mega in Smoke Grey.. Could you advise?! Or link the video please 🩶
Ah so sorry I ended up not adding it because it was actually a blog post from many years ago! I’ll link in below but if you let me know what you’re planning to buy I can make a suggestion? lethbridgepaper.co.uk/2018/10/12/where-to-buy-your-new-hobonichi/
@@lethbridgepaper unsure if my reply sent or not.. But thank you for the link. And as said I'm looking to get a Hobo Weeks Mega in Smoke Grey x TIA
Ah so sorry I missed that bit! Definitely check Amazon Japan if that’s all you’re after and company the prices between there and direct. You just won’t get the pen if you order from Amazon JP.
@@lethbridgepaper I don't care for the pen tbh x thanks lovely x x
Thanks for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
I wonder if you have a local stationery store in the UK that sells Hobonichi products? Here in North America we have JetPens and Yoseka Stationery (US) and Wonderpens (Canada) that *are* official retailers. Unfortunately they don't carry all of the cover options and accessories so it's hit-or-miss whether I go direct or order from a "local" shop each year. P.S. Love that Cousin cover in the twill (?) black fabric. Do you recall what it was called?
We have a few! In fact, I've got one about 30 min drive away! However, the books are cheaper from Amazon Japan :/
Buying from anywhere other than the official website is so much more expensive. I've also never been charged customs or shipping (im sure there's a spend threshold but I don't think that will be an issue 😂)
Last year, there were no customs charged to the customers in India. Hobonichi paid for it. Is it not the case in UK?
You still pay the customs, it's just that Hobonichi charge you them up front, so you pay them as part of the purchase price.
Roughly how much are customs fees to ship directly from Hobonichi to the UK?
It's 20% but if you order from Hobonichi direct or Amazon Japan they charge you up front as part of the purchase price.
@@lethbridgepaperThankyou so much! So they charge VAT and customs fees upfront so you don’t end up paying extra charges when it reaches the UK? This is my first time ordering from Hobonichi direct so just trying to figure it out. I read about extra charges if your order is over £135 on HMRC so just wondering if that applied! Thanks so much for your videos. So fun to look through everything available! With love from Sheffield
Hey yeah that’s correct! No hidden charges on delivery.
Thank you for this video! When will the 2025 hobonichi planners get released on Amazon in the US?
Sorry I'm not sure as I'm in the UK, but I'm fairly certain it's not on launch day.
I miss the ‘hold’ feature!
So many people do! I never had to use it because I was never a cover person, thankfully.
I think I'll wait a little because I may only get a weeks and a few accessories. Otherwise, I'll resort to other retailers
Good plan if you only want a few bits.
Do Amazon Japan include the pen and notebook?
No, but you could buy them from Etsy sellers if you really want them.
Apologies if I missed that in the video but you can only get the free gifts from Hobonichi direct, or in store at Tobichi stores in Japan.
How long until the standard hobonichi items for 2025 will be available on Amazon UK?
I'm not too sure actually. I've never purchased from Amazon UK, only JP. It definitely isn't on release day, usually.
@@lethbridgepaper thank you. I will keep any eye out in a few weeks.
this is so helpful!! thank you so much! can't wait to get my first hobonichi :)

It looks to me like this year there's only going to be one launch day for orders; everything will be available on 1 September except the OnePiece stuff which always comes out on 1 October. So exciting!!
Oh I totally missed that when I was looking at the full lineup page! Good info!
@@lethbridgepaper Yes, it will make life much easier for us! I just hope the site doesn't crash like it used to - but I'm assuming they've got that under control now!
I watched the two hour video they had on YT of all the amazing things for 2025. I plan on doing two orders (one in Sept. as soon as the Spy Family stuff becomes available) and then another in October when the One Piece items open up.
I never watch the videos, maybe I should?
twines and paper has a planner which has the same hybrid weekly layout i've drawn myself and i'm still on the fence
Ooh good info thank you!
If I’m not mistaking you are in the UK? So out of curiosity - how are you buying the Plotter? Or will you get it in Japan? I’m in Finland and I haven’t found a store which would ship Plotters to Europe…
I’m planning to get one in Japan as yeah I struggled to get hold of one in this country.
I think Yoseka Stationery has Plotter in stock and am pretty sure will ship to finland. At least I've hovered over the buy button enough times to know it at least doesn't say no 😅 Obviously taxes + shipping will be a lot...
@@oona4611 Oh, thanks for letting me know 👍🏼 Or, I don't know if that is good 😅 Of course they don't have all options of the covers, but they have something. And I quickly checked that shipping is over 30USD. But it is nice to know that I could get it somewhere. Still I wished that Plotter themselves would start selling in or to Europe.
I’ve been thinking about my 2025 setup so much that I’ve practically obsoleted my current set up 😢 if anything, it’s making me think I need to lean into a six month system instead of a full year which is very different and new for me.
Oh no! I’ve definitely been there before. A six month set up is an interesting one, I quite like that as a concept.
Very informative. I started this year with an A5 cousin but just found it too big for my needs. I bought a Thinking of You x Mr Eggplants The Moment 2024 Planner and it’s great but a bit too small. I also recently started a Weeks and was shocked to find how much I loved it especially using all the extra pages at the back. I am definitely going to be using it in 2025 and am considering an A6 avec as well. Not sure if I will be duplicating so still on the fence but the new Hobinichi covers are calling me😂
Hahaha that is the danger of Hobonichi! Everything is so pretty to end up wanting it all and then before you know it you have way too many planners. I’ve loved one of the Hon covers for 2025 but I have zero need for a Hon.
Since this time last year it has been a mess for me. I have been changing/starting books like an idiot and I still have no clue of what I really want. What I do know is that I am a bullet Journaler but I just don’t like those dot grids and I like Tomoe river paper. I am sticking with the day free but have many started books for this year. i am just tired of it somehow. 🥲
Oh no!!! This is sad times! I feel like the day free is a perfect bullet journal book though, with only weeklies that need drawing out.
@@LiviaTavNaether me too!
@@jjensen8509 it is a relief to know I am not alone, thank you ☺️
@@lethbridgepaper I must confess I think it is a reflection of what is going on on the inside. All the anxiety, dissatisfaction, etc. But yes, the day free is definitely a great Bujo. 🙂
Oh yeah I get that. When I feel a bit all over the place it definitely manifests in my planning. I hope things pick up soon!
There’s some great weeks size planners in the same format but with grid. I really like my plotter and it pairs well with a weeks size monthly insert to have that for planning without adding it to the rings since there’s so little space on the rings. I shared my setup for august recently. I will say that Filofax has a planner with similar tiny rings and a slimmer setup. Not sure the price point. But that’s an option. And Wuhzi on Etsy sells a plotter style planner too. I’ve got them and love them as well.
I feel like at this point the Weeks is going to be so difficult to part from though I may just be putting off the inevitable. So I follow you on IG but not on YT (no idea how that happened) so will have a look at your August set up, thank you! My last couple of Filofax purchases have been a bit disappointing quietly wise so I’m keen to try something new. I’ll take a look at the Etsy suggestion though thanks!
I thought this was interesting and maybe you will, also. In a YT from Sylvia with a Plan, she opened a Hobo weeks and then opened up a pocket Moleskine and laid the opened Moleskine atop the opened Weeks. There are THREE rows more in the Weeks. That’s it. The other thing that Sylvia with a Plan pointed out is that although we all use whatever planner we have in portrait mode, if we turn it to Landscape mode just in the extra notes pages in the back, you now have, for example, a whole A5 sized page for brain dump or commonplace notes, in your Weeks !!! Exciting, right?!😁. I enjoy your videos; thank you.
Oh that’s really interesting! I’m subbed to Sylvia but hadn’t seen that video so will take a look! So I have been known the rotate the weeks when I’ve wanted to do a bit of certain planning but never for notes actually, that’s a great shout!
I'm currently in an A5 Avec, and I'm glad it's two books, otherwise the chunk would have made it difficult to journal in. I've never had a Cousin, for me, the size is overwhelming. Now, if it were a planner without the weeklies, then i would consider it. Saying that, i did use the A5 kinbor (full yesr book) last year. The planner only had the monthlies and dailies, no weeklies. The weeklies were in a separate A5 vertical weeks planner, so that was good. I did have a rather chunky planner by the end, but I'm glad i tried it. The kinbor really is a good hobonichi dupe for the fraction of the Cousin price. 😊
Yeah the Avec is a great solution for combating the bulk. The A5 is the Cousin though, the Avec is the name for that type :) Someone else mentioned the Kinbor too! I feel like I need to check them out (for science, of course!)
@lethbridgepaper Oh yes, I'm aware that it's a cousin. I just prefer to call it an A5 Avec because in my mind, the Cousin is the full year one to avoid confusion for myself 🤣 yes do check out the kinbor, I only bought it to see how I'd feel in one book for an entire year, I didn't want to jump the gun and buy the full year Cousin, as they're not cheap, so this was a great starting point. I had fun but realised quickly that one book for a year was just too big, especially the way I bulk them up 🤣
Oh ahah that makes sense, apologies! I think I’ve I only truly used all parts of a cousin in one year a couple of times and the chunk was ridiculous in the end. The Avec is definitely the way forward if you’re doing lots of sticking of things on the pages.
@lethbridgepaper no need to apologise. I'm glad I came across your video 🥰
If it’s Tomoe River paper, fountain pen folks will buy it for the paper… though it might sell for very little
Very true!
Sterling Ink's N2 Planner has grids on both the right and left side.
I think I’ve seen them, but there’s something about them that puts me off. Can’t put my finger on it though.
Me too! I’ve been using it for writing in, and my writing always gets a bit wonky on that side. I just realized how much it’s bugging me.
I definitely go up and down with how much I like my writing without the lines.
I really liked being in the cousin this year (first time) but I've found I really don't like the daily pages. I would go to the weeks, but I don't like horizontal format. So far I'm heavily leaning toward dipping my toes into Traveler's Notebook, and getting inserts that mimic what I love from the cousin, and extra inserts to return to what I loved with bullet journaling.
That’s a really good idea! Those vertical standard TN inserts will likely be perfect for you, albeit a bit smaller than the weeklies of the Cousin, they work just as well.
Have u seen the wonderland 222? It’s really similar to the cousin but doesn’t have dailies (weeks and undated note pages)
I grabbed a Leuchtturm A5 (horizontal weeks with notes opposite) at random the year I retired, and made it work. During the rest of that year I watched endless YT videos on different planners, made copious notes, and ruled out most things. The following year I opted for the A5 filofax version in the same format and have stuck with it now for 5 years, just gathering a wardrobe of covers! I added a Personal size with week-on-two pages a year or so later, and a notebook, and that's it. I'm lucky to have landed on my ideal combo by accident!
I love that you've found what works for you! I do think I need to play more with my Filofax, I think I can definitely do a lot more with it. Although I may end up picking up a Plotter for the smaller rings.
@lethbridgepaper I have a couple of Filofax Calypso in personal that have small rings - great for just taking slimmed-down current pages and notes on holiday. 😊
I only agree with a clear cover with designs like the Weeks has, I think a lot of people would buy them. I disagree with the rest: having the weeks with a grid would make it less creative and more generic, like any non-brand planners. A6 with the weeklies included would make more sense than a cousin without the weeklies. It’s the main reason people buy it and what sets it apart from every other planner on the market. B6 is not a popular size outside of USA and they would have to create covers specifically for a small percentage of buyers.
That's fair with the Cousin, although I do see a *lot* of people asking for it without the weeklies. On the B6 though, I wasn't saying I want one, I totally agree, it's not necessary and there's plenty of companies filling that gap.
Fully agree on FOMO! I did however preorder Aura Estelle B6 Daily. I know they will most likely be available also later, at least they've been well available this year. It's just that I was excited AE is making my dream planner in 2025 with all the changes they're doing. Also I only have 1 planner total. Notebooks are different, and I prefer them blank. Early this year I preordered a weekly planner that I had been using last year, as it was a good one, but then understood I was getting overwhelmed with the extra notes sheets on my table. So was able to cancel that preorder, made a post about my thoughts to a local group, tried out Hobonichi Cousin, but after a while felt overwhelmed with the layout. Then I found AE and have been very happy using it. So I've thought the cost of Hobonichi was like taking a course in planner use. Now I have peace and yeah, it's possible I might find something else, but highly unlikely. So far only Papertess has a similar layout, but undated daily pages.
I'm loving all these comments because I'm finding out about all these planners that have totally passed me by! I've just had a Google and I really like the format of this B6 daily! This definitely throws a bit of a spanner in the works when it comes to planning for next year! I'm glad you've found something that's working for you!
Appreciate your honest feedback.
Well done giving it a go! I wouldn’t even consider it - and I consider most things 😂 And trying it in the Weeks was an extra challenge I think. I couldn’t plan in the Weeks, after a few different attempts. I’ve worked out I needed daily pages. But I accidentally discovered that the note pages are actually perfect for me for notes. I’ve totally fallen in love with the size! Isn’t it amazing how page sizes, formats etc, either connect with our brains or don’t? Great that it confirmed what you definitely need. Thanks for sharing! 😊💛
I think that’s part of what makes planning and the community so fun. It’s so varied and people get such different things out of different formats and styles. It’s not a one size fits all.
I can’t live without my cousin…the weekly section is invaluable to me…my to-dos, my spending, appointments, all go in there. Yes!! I’m checking Hobo site every night at 10pm …EST…and you’re right, they really should sell a clear cover, but the Midori works great, so ai don’t sweat it.
I definitely used to use the weeklies in my Cousin religiously. I do miss them to be honest!
@@lethbridgepaper yeah, it keeps me on task. I just love everything about the cousin.
Great video! for me it's the opposite, I have been using the weeks for 4/5 years now and this year it was it's down fall because I was treating it as a planner/memory keeper which didn't work and it started to get repetitive so I gave up on it although this year's cover is my ultimate favorite cover out of the hobonichi weeks I have purchased, but I guess it came at the wrong time of my life, so I purchased a Traveler's notebook vertical planner and used it mainly as memory keeping where I decorate and write little things about my days and I completely fell in love. Later this year, I purchased a Filofax personal as a planner and so far it's working very well because I'm not treating it as a planner/memory keeper but just a planner and this worked wonders. I will continue with the vertical for memory keeping and rings for planning for work/personal.
I love that you’ve found something that worked for you! I wish I could’ve got the vertical TN to work for me for memory keeping. What is your favourite all time Weeks cover out of interest?
@@lethbridgepaper The Hiroko Kubota Another night of falling star sparklers
Oh that’s a pretty one!
I got a Kinbor planner for the reason that it has only monthly and daily pages, plus about 15 plain grid ones in the very back. Cuts down on the amount of bulk and repetition in an already rather large book.
Oh interesting! I’ve not looked at Kimbor planners for a few years now. Might take a look!
Oh my goodness, I agree with all three of your wishes! Please listen, Hobonichi!
Yessss!
Hi, I totally understand you wanting a grid on the weekly pages in the weeks. That would be amazing. I also wish they would release a weeks book with only grid pages, like the pages in the back, so I can use the whole book as a journal. I know there is slim weeks booklets, but they are too small, and way too slim. I want to use the book in a nice cover, but I guess that's not going to happen, haha! I
That’s a good point, they do the A6 and A5 notebooks so they should add a Weeks size.
Sterling Ink has weeks size notebooks with Tomoe River paper. I have one and I made it into my own weeks planner for the 2nd half of 2024. All grid all the time.😊
@@JanisK1953 Thank you, I'll look into it for sure :)
I agree with the grid paper on the left had side of the weeks, I would also like for the weeks planner to have white paper (same as the cousin). You can get an Avec in A5 if you would like an A5 without the weekly pages.
Sadly the Cousin Avec does have the weekly pages. The only difference with the Avec is that it’s split over two books, everything else is the same.
@@lethbridgepaper I’m so sorry, I meant the Day Free. Even though it’s “only” got 171 grid note pages it’s the closest you can get to a cousin without weekly pages.
Ah yes I mention the Day Free in the video - I like to have to a full year of dated pages.
I would use a weekly spread in the A6 size techo. I use an A6 in Japanese, and an A5 in English.. works well for me!
I think a lot of people would!
I would like white paper in the weeks also. I would like to see the cousin being made in an a6 size which would be my ultimate!
Interesting on the white paper! I don't really think about it too much when I'm using it, but I do think I like it being a softer colour.
I want the cousin to change up the horizontal weekly format over 2 pages like the Weeks. Then it would be my dream planner!
I think sterling ink is has a layout like that for A5 coming
I feel like Just Scribble has just announced that for next year??
@@lethbridgepaper i don’t feel their horizontal it’s exactly what I want but I’m going to keep in mind and wait and see what HON A5 designs Hobonichi do for 2025. I’m loving the cats one this year and would love if they did a cat one again
I could see them doing that as more of a business planner. Last year they had a section on their site for how the black gingham and dark blue HONs would fit in a corporate setting.
I agree about the grid! That’s actually a deal breaker for me. I also would love a version of the cousin without the weeklies.
There's dozens of us!
@@lethbridgepaper hobonichi!!!👏👏👏👏
Same. I like the layout of the dailies of the cousin. Using the plain grid notebook just doesn’t feel the same. If it didn’t have the weeklies, I wouldn’t think twice to use it every year. Better if they also offer a version like this in an avec. Trying to give the weeklies a second chance this half year though cause I’m looking to downsize next year. Hope it works 😢 M also with you on the pvc cover for the bare books. I don’t like the feel of the plastic, but I don’t need the additional bulk most times. Ah … so much to consider.
In some respects, for what I sometimes use the Cousin for a notebook in theory should be better. But I like the flexibility of the dated pages - it means I can go from using it like a journal, planner or notebook really easily.
Have you looked at the Midori Hibino? It is A6 but has monthly pages and then 2 pages per day. Really nifty little thing - I love mine for work.
I have, but I don't think I'd need two days per page and I think I'd struggle with the chunk. I've only ever bought Avec or Day Free A6's because I know I'd struggle to write on the thick side. It's sometimes a challenge with the Cousin and I think with the smaller size of the A6 it would be even worse.
An A5 or A6 weeks 😊.
Ooh an A5 one would be very interesting!
I agree on all 3 counts! It would make my cousin much less chunky by year end without all those extra weekly pages. I cope in my weeks without a lhs grid but it would be nice. I also would like clear covers for the other planners. 💛
Oh yeah I didn't even think about the chunk saving with no weeklies!
Is there a reason you are not considering sterling-ink weeks which would have the grid on the left side? I only heard of Hobonichi last year and as much as I did like the layout of the weeks, I did switch out of it before long so I never built any brand loyalty to the company. Nothing wrong with the planner itself, I was just having problems making it work for me. Still looking forward to see what people will buy for next year.
Unfortunately, I'm not a massive fan of the styling of the Sterling Ink planners. I'd miss the little extra bits on the pages that make Hobonichi Hobonichi, if that makes sense?
@@lethbridgepaper It does. I think one of the reasons I didn't bond with the hobonichi was all the extra pages that I had no use for. Same with the sterling-ink. I don't do goal setting as intensivly as she does and all those extra pages in the beginning would be wasted on me. So even though at some point I did think I might try it out, for now I'm going to skip it.
@@angrycatplanswhat do you use instead? I have the same problem honestly.
@@Sannaland I’ve mostly planner hopped this year and finally ended up going with a bujo. I bought a moleskine daily pocket calendar, printed some month on two pages inserts on sticker papaer to cover the original monthly pages and went on from there. This way I get the horizontal view I want, and enough spare pages for todo’s and notes. Both my bujo and my journal are outdated daily calendars that I bough when they were getting rid of old stock and the planners were in 70% sale, so they didn’t cost much. I like moleskine paper (when it's the good one), I like the size of the pocket and I like that they are cheap and have a lot of pages. The dated pages don't bother, so this was a good fit for me. I know the bujo route is not for everybody but many companies do horizontal (weeks style) layouts like moleskine, leuchtturm, paperblank, muji and probably other brands who I don’t even know. I did consider some of these but none I found had enough note pages in the back, which I do want to have. Hope you find something that works for you.
@@angrycatplans happy you found something for yourself. I’m still on the lookout for what to pick. Papertess seems to be a strong contender so far. The only commitment to myself is just to not buy anything before December. 😅
I actually really don’t agree.. I really WANT the a6 to have a weekly in the notebook. I really hate the weekly supplemental because it is TOO small. *If* the supplemental wasn’t“so small” for a6 AND was the same size as the A6 book, I would be okay with it being in another supplemental. If they had an A5 version of the A6, and the A6 version of a cousin!! Lol
Oh don't get me wrong, I absolutely think they should do a version of the A6 with the weekly layout included too. My point more was that there is an option to have weeklies in the A6 (even if it's not ideal) but there's no option for no weeklies in the Cousin.
Same here, I wish there was an a6 version with the weeklys.
I actually love having the weekly supplement as a separate book. It's easy to carry by itself, and I feel like I can just make a mess in it without worrying. My schedule can change quite a bit from week to week, so I'm constantly either crossing things out or - when I can be arsed to do so - using correction tape to cover up a bunch of stuff. Once my schedule for a given week has stabilized, I just copy it into my A6 techo and it's good to go. I know the weekly supplement seems thin, but it would add another 112 pages to the Techo Original book. That would make the book a whopping 576 pages long - assuming we would still get all of the notes pages, and I use those so I would miss them if they took them out. This is 56 more pages than the full-year Common Planner. I have one of those, and it is so ridiculously thick I really didn't like using it. (It also doesn't fit well in my Hobonichi covers.) I would not like having an A6 book that is even thicker than that.
I agree... Hobonichi is too thin. I need a thicker paper too.
For most things I love the Hobonichi paper. But for something I’m flicking between all the time I definitely need something thicker.
Wish i had time to write lots of random shit and play with stickers rather than actually work for a living.
Sorry you’re so unhappy with life that you feel the need to make such comments. Not that it matters but I actually work full time for a living, run a business on the side AND still have time to write lots of random shit and play with stickers. Guess I’m just good at time management? A planner helps with that.
Are you still selling the TN? I'm interested
Yeah! It’s just sat collecting dust. Drop me a DM on IG and we can sort something out. :)
Hello tried reaching out via IG but can't because you don't follow me lol. However I realized I also follow you there and didn't make the connection 😂
Ah so sorry! Didn’t realise I had my settings locked down! You’ll be able to message now!
