Witty self-aware, self-referencing gags in The Simpsons
My grandpa used to smuggle hooch during the depression.
You promised me dog or higher.

What is going on with Burns's voice at 3:40? It sounds nothing like him.
Even Eddy and Lou.
"Oh good. My laundry is done." 😂 Outstanding.

Canada in a nutshell
That's how the world works.
TIIIMMBERRR
I would prefer the nondescript briefcase over the sack with a dollar sign on it...lmao
I guess it's appropriate that Mr Burn and Mayor Quimby were involved in most of these lol
so aged
3:35 It's a shame they zoomed it in the old episodes for newer broadcasts since the original showed a ton of money on the table where now you can only see a tiny amount since the picture is so stretched out and zoomed in. Makes the joke not land as well as it used to but still funny.
You know, after finding out what actually qualifies as a "Bribe" under US law (czcams.com/video/5udtSQ-LtM0/video.htmlsi=m9vRDX-klopeZFoT), it is remarkable how few of these things are actually bribery. At least according to the US Supreme Court and its longest tenured member who hasn't paid his own mortgage since before this show went on the air.
What episode and season was the testimony one where Moe gets bribed on the stand
S5E20 The Boy Who Knew Too Much
4:57 Lisa saw the world for what it is.
3:35 I’m extremely ignorant of The Simpsons production history, why was there a different voice actor for Mr. Burns here?
Why didn’t you bribe them
"Sure, I'm flattered, maybe even a little curious--" I've used that line a few times.
The prohibition episode was so ridiculous and accurate portrayal of the actual 1920s prohibition era.
The Simpsons gave me an unrealistic expectation of how often I should expect to receive bribes in my day to day life.
Depending from your position, it may be realistic.
I love the comically large $5000 tag on the coat, just incase you didn't understand it was an expensive coat
Wait, did Mr Burns remember Homer's name? Impossible
You should have included the one with Burns, envelope marked bribe, empty
5:40 the illegal booze!
"If I didn't know better, I'd think you were trying to bribe me...!" "Is there some confusion on this!?" lmao
I always love how Homer is completely wrong about Burns’ intentions, yet his answer still makes perfect sense.
This especially makes me feel super sorrowful considering how corruption has absolutely ruined my country
man I never realized just how corrupt Springfield is lmao
5:32 “Let’s just say it moved me…TO A BIGGER HOUSE!! Oops. I said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet. Oh dear.”
Mr Burns really looks a lot like Mr Snrub.
I like how wad's of cash are enough for corruption. Nothing else the city wants. Just money.
That one about Lisa really hurts a lot she lost all hope
yep, but just remember: there are some goods in this world and they're worth fighting over
@@jwnomad Nothing couple of Benjamins won't solve. Lisa just refuses to acknowledge, how world works.
@@ceu160193If the world works that way, its a shitty world. And a world we made that way. No doubt she would be sad about our failure.
The money and the very stupid man are still here
‘There wasn’t even any nuclear material in it!’
Fat Tony: You didn't see nothin'. (Bribes cops big bucks)
"I don’t know why people are always bad-mouthing the mafia!" 😄
@@ff3player *casually drives by with illegal booze*
Well, this is a ringing reminder that Springfield is incredibly corrupt.
Omg Marge just immediately saying 200 and then considering refusing the bribe is just flawless.
I think this is the first time I have seen Eddie speaking and he sounds pretty nice.
"we were collecting canned goods for the starving people in...ah you know, one of them loser countries"
💰
Where is my bribe for not pointing out that it's less than six minutes?
What a pooch!
3:38 - 3:40 Couldn’t resist commenting again. Counting those stacks of bills on the table, and assuming those are bundles of twenties (with 100 twenties per bundle), that could come to approximately $74,000 USD in early 1990’s money. EDIT: 4:02 - 4:07 Also noticed about four of those bundles were stuffed in his pockets. Assuming those are bundles of twenties (with 100 twenties per bundle), that’s about $8,000 USD in early 1990’s money.
Let’s be honest. Ignoring the horrible investment feedback from his advisors, Mr. Burns must have EXTREMELY frugal money habits to have so much available for bribes (and a high power legal team still willing to defend him). By the by, if he’s running a nuclear power plant, would his proper title be Dr. Burns? I’m assuming he would need a Doctor of Philosophy in Nuclear Physics. If I’m wrong, or if there’s more to it, anyone please feel free to correct me.
4:49
you forgot wiggums saying, "cant you read the badge, CASH BRIBES ONLY!"
@3:33 Harry hadn't quite settled on the Mr. Burns voice yet.
I've heard Joe Mantegna practically *begs* the writers to write more Fat Tony stuff because he absolutely loves it.
