Just checked a website first result for "sprinter van window covers." For the front (windshield, passenger, and driver window) set $450. Then $215 for the sliding door window and $215 for the window across it. With taxes and fees, that totals $900. I've never sewn before. For me to make them myself, it took: $37 reflectix $16 fabric (used mostly old thermal blackout curtains) $25 magnets $0 thread (gifted) $100 sewing machine =$178 And about 9 hours of labor (havent done magnets yet but guestimating). Valuing my time at $16 an hour (according to my current job), I spent $144 in labor, $178 in materials, for a total of $322. That's 1/3 of the cost, including labor and purchase of sewing machine Unless your time is valued at like $100/hr, or something where time it would take to do this costs more than it would to buy them for $900, THIS IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. So thanks!

I showed this video to my wife, and she got the bits together to make them. I really don't care if someone looks over at our van and sees her giving me a bj but she does!

When you are sewing fabric onto backing or silver foil, important to use pins or tape to make sure you have neat finishes with no folds. It is time consuming but worthwhile for a neater finish.

I love this idea! I’ve bought all the supplies and have started but am having a difficult time with it. The insulation has started to break apart. Don’t know what to do..

Can use spray contact adhesive also

They look great. I made plain Reflectix shades with stick on magnetic strips for my Sprinter, and they are okay, but a bit of a pain at times, especially on the slider. Your method of using the magnets in pockets and sewing the fabric to the Reflectix looks so neat and makes them much easier to store too. Will be using that to upgrade my current plain shades to add fabric and proper magnets - thanks for the inspiration and instructions!

Did you do one for the windscreen?

Maybe adhesive spray would help hold everything together while sewing. I like what you did here.

Mine are really large windows they sag so will need to spray glue on to hold fabric in place as sewing alone isn't enough what glue have people used or would you recommend ?

I love your non visible magnets technique. The only issue is that your information finds me in the stage that I have already sewed all magnets in the polyester tape🫠🫠 No other option thst to go with the ugly visible way! Congrats anyway 🎉

Nice job! Consider having one side silver white cloth to reflect heat, and the other dark to improve privacy at night. Put the silver side out in the summer heat, and in when you’re running the heater. Soft batting will give an air gap between the Reflectix and the window for even better insulation.

In the mini macrame 1 what size do you make the 7 strings? It doesn't look like your using 1 meter. It looks smaller in your video. 1 meter = 3ft is that correct thats in your video?
