If I can just explain something real quick, the reason most newer players seem scared to go for pressure (myself included, full disclosure) is the same reason they don't block on wakeup: mashing seems unbeatable at lower levels. The timing on meaties, safejumps, etc. is actually really hard? Like, you have an easy time with it once you've put in practice, but it takes a solid chunk of practice to get it down at first. And it's *insanely* frustrating to be moving towards your knocked down opponent, pressing your pressure starter, and then suddenly a 5PPP or 2K 2D is hitting you, and you're now in disadvantage. It's not just the timing itself that makes it hard, it's the sheer discouragement of missing it.

2:35 THIS. I my main fighting game before GGST was DBFZ. I was actually pretty good and blocking on wakeup is something you almost never see in that game because every decent character has a better option, so whenever I wakeup in GGST I would try to use a button and get instantly countered. GGST has long since became my main fighting game and I still do this from time to time

Im late as heck but this works better with fd brake back walk. It does pretty much the same thing but with the benifit of being in c.s range to punish them if they attempt a grab.

The number one mistake may players make is exploring too much of their toolkit. The only move you need to know is totsugeki. The only time you would ever use something other than totsugeki is when you mess up the input

See, I use the Jaja Beenka method. First you charge with dolphin, the use the two footed drop kick thing, 30 go to 10.

Whenever I see someone mention safe jump I get intrigued, but then I lose motivation because there are no guides on how to practice safe jumps on CZcams, only videos that explain what safe jumps are/do. The timing is something I struggle with, but can't find any training setups to practice it. Any tips?

Just want to mention, the reason why Daigo got thrown repeatedly on wakeup is because getting thrown is almost always better than getting comboed, so its usually not worth the risk to throw tech. He could have tried to delay throw tech but its not easy and might have been afraid of being shimmied
