I bought an old Jacobsen Turfcat for like $900. Serviced everything but the hydraulics so far, because the filter is over $100 (cheapest cross I could find online is around $60). It has a pretty fresh NAPA on there and clean fluid.

Give up on the hardware store and go into metal roofing. Maybe keep the hardware store as your winter hobby.

Commenting before i try, had 5 studs missing from my front right, mines a 2018 with the stock rims, pretty sure transmission shop didnt tighten them enough when i had my front diff rebuilt

IMHO the name on the filter means more than the name on the oil. I have an auto shop. Im sure equipment is the same.OEM parts are the only way to go.

NAPA has gotten ridiculous with their filter and oil prices. I find it much cheaper just to go to my Case IH dealer than to even price them. Try air filters at NAPA. Totally asinine. I will only buy filters and oil at NAPA if I have to have them right away. Otherwise, I will make the trip farther away to the dealer. They are pricing themselves right out of business.

Wix makes Napa's filters. My local Napa has a filter sale every year where there is a huge savings! I'll buy a year or 2 worth at a time.

Napa Gold Filters are made by Wix. I bought a oil filter from Napa for a Ford 7.3 it was $26.00. I bought the same Napa Gold filter from Fleet Filter online for $12.00. So now I buy all my equipment and vehicle filters from them. They carry air, oil, fuel and hydraulic filters in different brands but I try to stick with Wix filters. I don't use Fram filters anymore after seeing some CZcams videos where new oil filters were cut open, only to find the metal inside rusty.

I was in the auto repair business for 40 years, 25 as management/owner. tried to do business with NAPA at 7 or 8 locations in different cities, I could always buy parts (wholesale) at the dealerships (both foreign and domestic) "noticeably" cheaper than (wholesale) NAPA. (ALL PARTS). I buy my tractor and hydraulic filters (WIX) at O'Reilly auto parts. (some of the employees don't know they carry filters for tractors).

It would be better to shorten the shaft then to drill close to the end for a cast metal knuckle.

The fact that John Deere OEM filters are made by Donaldson or Mann Filter (in Europe) and painted with the john deere paint and sold for a huge markup is sickening. NAPA as far as I know is ordering from whoever gives the lowest price.

The left side of the Fendt did look busy, but not actually too bad to work on. Better than the old combines w/ stacked belts. Although far more expensive :D

The race to make the biggest, most sophisticated farm equipment seems to never slow down. I thought getting a hydraulic lift plow instead of pulling on the rope was progress.

The drones work well for fungicide applications, as well as hard to reach pasture areas. OR if fields are really wet I guess you can technically get going with them. Saw a drone in action this year, might hire some in the future for gnarly pasture areas for leafy spurge and stinkweed.

Millennial farmer just had 400 acres sprayed in a day with one drone. Lots of drone sprayers have two drones, so they can get 800 acres a day. Much faster, doesn't matter how muddy the soil is, the drones go much faster than a conventional sprayer. Watch millennial Farmers most recent video.
