Testing a Pull Screen sideways - Slide Pull screen Soap Technique - with dividers - Cp soap
I made this soap with a pull screen but did not pull it vertically, nor did a horizontal pull (though I want to try that soon) so a “slide” is the best name I can come up with now, unless you know the right term, let me know below. I used dividers as well to help me have even layers.
Here is the loaf pull screen soap I mentioned in the video:

Making a strawberry mold

I made some silicone molds with real strawberries, pop corn, and blueberries. The challenge was that the fruit kept floating to the top after I poured the silicone. The pin I was using to hold it wasn’t enough. I used the molds to make soap embeds. This is the silicone mix I used: amzn.to/3TG4OeO (Affiliate link). Questions , tip or comments, make them below.
Testing a flower pull screen soap in slab mold
zhlédnutí 171Před 6 měsíci
I tried a kaleidoscope soap style in a loaf mold. Results were mixed, mostly because I did adjustments to the screen without taking into consideration where I would cut it. I should have sliced the whole slab in half but my cutter is not large enough for that. My soap recipe also thickens fast and it was not a good/even pour. The small/detail designs did not come out as good as the large petal ...

I knew it would work because of the ones that the soap club did. They pulled screens thru the other way. From one short end to the other. Using dividers like you used only going width wise, instead of length wise. There's a few CZcamss of them. I'll see if I can find one for you.
I Dream of Soap has a video. It's called Soap Challenge Club Cold process soap making, swing swirl soap.
Thank you so much for the information. I had only found two videos for the technique you described, but they called it a horizontal pull screen. And only one had dividers as you described (width wise), I will see which one is the oldest video as I will consider that the original one. In case you are interested, the one I found was from SNIF Natural Soapmaking, and the video name was: Creative Soap Design Series #1: The Spatula; with J. Cyr

Thank you Tanya!!
Hi Glenda, its so wonderful to see you back on utube making your husbands birthday cake and your chocolate soap bars.
Hi Tanya! Thank you, it is nice hearing from you as well. How is the soap making going over there?
I'm still having lots of fun trying different colours, swirls and styles.
@@tanyabonnett4174 oh nice, playing with colors in soap is a lot of fun!
What
Hi, not sure what you meant? :-) have a great day
Please can i use Motto clutch wire
If it is made of stainless steel wire, you could. If made of galvanized steel, I would not recommend
Did you post full video
Unfortunately no, I didn’t film the whole process for this one.
Very cool 😎. You did such a great job. It’s nice to see video’s where people are showing how to save money while they do it, perfect. I love strawberries and eat them often dipped in dark chocolate. This would be cool to do with dark brown melt and pour on the outside! You have so many cool idea’s. Loved this video. Hugz, Tree
Last valentines instead of buying already dipped strawberries we did it ourselves, and it was so addictive. Then I started dipping pretzels, cereals, you name it! Great idea on the dark brown MP soap for dipping!
These are pretty good ideas, thank you! I'm getting tired of manually cutting giant slabs lol
You are most welcome! Thank for the feedback!
Beautiful!❤
Thank you!!
Do you add EDTA to the lye before the oils?
No, I add it to the mix of oils and water (after adding the lye to the oils) reason being is that it could precipitate in the lye concentration alone
glad to see you come back!
Thank you!
This is definitely on my list of techniques to try. Thank you!
Nice, would love to see your results!
What a beautiful color combo! Maybe I should take up gardening just to use such soap!
Thank you! I think anyone can use it, especially as their kitchen soap. The idea is that with all the exfoliants, it helps remove extra dirt better
It’s VERY important to remember that the lye always going into the water, not the water into lye. Btw, the standards for holding lye water are PPE containers #2 & #5. These are the safe standards. I’ve been a soaper for 10 years. Keep up the good work. Be open to learning new things, that’s how we all learn!
Thank you, of course. I only cleaned the residue of the container with the water, would never do it to the total lye amount. But thanks for pointing it out so others can read since I missed that! And thank you for pointing out about the plastic container numbers, also a great reminder. I tend to think that if someone is masterbatching they already know the basics, which is why your reminders are important, you are definitely my senior in soap making by three years, I have only made it for the past 7 years.
These are really cool!
Thank you!
Please tell me the name of the wire that you are using..
It is stainless steel wire. If you check the description, you can find links to different thickness (gauges)
Would it have not have helped you to lightly stick blend the whole pot a few times when you saw that the oil and soap was were not emulifying together?
It may have helped a little, in the past though, when the soap is that thick, the stick blender is not very effective, the gummy paste fills its cavity and the blades don’t seem to mix anything around them, and there is a risk or even burning the motor by forcing it continuously. If it was more fluid it could have worked.
Given the water content of the soap at this stage (just cut) shredding was not feasible, it would have gotten stuck in the shredder instead of coming out in Shreds
Very cute!! Hugz, Tree
Thank you Tree! Have a great weekend!
Great to see your creativity Glenda. Love the colors and patterns. Blessings to you 🌸

Thank you so much! That made my day!
Hi
This is very useful information Glenda. Thank you so much. 🙏😊
You are most welcome!!
Do u leave the batter to reach emulsion for 2 to 3 minutes like you mentioned in another video? Or did u change ur way?
On this one, I did not initially. It took me a few minutes to split it into all the colors and blend the colors by hand. However; after I had poured the colors in the cup, and realized it was too runny, I did wait a couple of minutes and it did become thicker/better for the pour.
Can we get the same. Clarity with an iphone....
Perhaps not the same but close with the newer models. I have an older iPhone model and it is not as good at handling colors. However if you have good lighting and take the picture very close to the light source, it does help

Thanks so much! Nice to hear from you too!
Thank you! I've been hunting for so long for how to make a mold like this!!!
I hope yours turns out good. One tip I learned is that round molds work best for roundish shapes, if you have something with very straight lines it might not be the best approach.
@@SoapsbyGlenda Thank you so much! I really appreciate the tip!
These are beautiful Glenda. Love the technique. Especially with the loaf mold. Blessings to you 👏🏻🙏
Thank you Lauren, it has become one of my favorite easy pours
Well done 'cause it is difficult to find one personalized.... I think those in stores are not tall enough! Thank you
Thank you, I agree. Though the one from Nurture Soaps does seem tall to me, I usually do not even fill it all the way up.
Greetings Glenda I really like the Rose embed. Very beautiful. Have a blessed thanksgiving.
Thank you Lauren, you too have a blessed thanksgiving, though I can only imagine how hard it must be. By the way, if you have an extruder, I would be happy to send you this rose disc.
thank you for sharing! this was so fascinating! When you say you cut the soap horizontally, did you slice the whole loaf in half lengthwise ( a long cut the length of the loaf across the middle?)
I am glad you liked it. No, I did not the whole loaf at once horizontally. What I did was that instead of slicing it like a loaf of bread at 1" thickness, I did thick "slices" of about 2.5" thickness, enough to show the whole tree. So out of a 10" loaf, I got four big thick pieces. Each one of these pieces I then cut them horizontally. I hope I make sense, if not let me know.
They came out beautiful, lots of hard work.
Thank you! yes, lots of patience needed for this one.
Wgere did you get your dividers?
I 3d printed them myself :-) it took a long time!
