Oscar Walcker's organ op. 2576 (1937) presented by Martin Schmeding; new AEOLUS Double SACD album!
Our new double SACD "Opus 2576"with Prof. Martin Schmeding features what is undoubtedly one of the most peculiar parlour organs in Germany: he presents Oscar Walcker's Opus 2576, an instrument which was built in 1937 in the studio of the painter and sculptor Hugo Körtzinger in Schnega (Wendland). Initially comprising only 6 ranks of pipes, the unit organ grew to an impressive 37 ranks and 63 stops by 1947! The history of the instrument's development is documented in an interesting correspondence of around 100 letters between the owner and company director Dr phil. h.c. Oscar Walcker.
The instrument was restored by the Scheffler company from Sieversdorf in 2015/16 after it had been unplayable for 50 years.
An exciting programme can be expected, played on a very versatile, appealing instrument.
The album comes with an extensive booklet with 48 pages (english/german). All registrations are documented. Many photographs and more than two hours playing time.

The "Pièces de lut" published in 1682 and 1702 under the name of Jacque Bittner are among the better known prints with music for the 11-course lute in the German-speaking area, but this music has rarely been recorded or heard in concert. Stylistically, these are dance suites based on the French example, whereby each suite is preceded by a Prélude non mesuré - also according to the French tradit...

For our new SACD album, organist Maria Vekilova-Desmet has juxtaposed key works of Baroque music with compositions of contemporary times: contrast is the central motif of her concept album entitled " Hell und Dunkel" ("Light and Dark"). Works by Dietrich Buxtehude are counterpointed by the Toccata (2001) by Bernard Foccroulle (*1953), who was inspired by Buxtehude's music to compose his piece. ...

Excellent work 👍Please continue doing what you are doing! Many people enjoy your playing and especially this piece of which is my favorite ❤
Had to stop listening. The disruptions in rhythm are disturbing.
I like it. :)) Bach is the GOAT.
Great sensitivity and pacing.
Maravilhoso! Sem dúvidas uma das melhores versões disponíveis no CZcams. Parabéns!!
Excellent performance!!
A great performance! Thank you!
Wonderful interpretation by a wonderful, fantastic organist!
Incredibly virtuosic piece. What were you thinking Brahms ???
The suite in g minor is so beautiful.
Ausgezeichnete Interpretation!
Maybe it wasn't fully understood. He was a great organist (even if sometimes overshadowed by others....) and a good teacher. May the earth be light on you, dear Samuel.
NO...
Yes indeed; She got it right. Wonderfully expressive and "romantic" but...the sloppy tuning and mushy audio engineering did not match the piano performance and equally fine video. This makes it difficult to listen too for long. What's the deal with bad engineering from audio persons and tuners who insist on cheating clients by using temperaments? Take a moment and listen to this one done with clear/precise tuning and engineering. It is a high school age audition (non edited) recording so the video requirements were more strict: czcams.com/video/bpRZtn_jPe8/video.html
I read the name Samuel Kummer for the first time when ordering his double-CD with JSB´s "Art of Fugue", recorded by him on the magnificent organ, built by Bach´s preferred organ builder Zacharias Hildebrandt in 1746 and restored in 2000, in the St. Wenceslas Church of Naumburg ... Upon hearing that CD, I was overwhelmed, even more than by the recording of the same work on the same organ from the 1970-ies, published on Vinyl by Christophorus which at that time impressed me more than anything I had ever heard before ... I cannot describe how sad I am upon hearing of the passing away of this great and generous musician, apparently while waiting on the Dresden main train station for his connection to Würzburg where he was supposed to teach his organ pupils ... It would not surprise me, if the court case with the "Stiftung Frauenkirche Dresden" has weakened him to the extent of breaking down physically ... Also, it would not surprise me, if his fabulous recording of JSB´s "Art of Fugue" in Naumburg would play a role in the whereabouts underlying that court case ... Rest in Peace, dear Samuel, your Art (and in particular your Art of Fugue) will never be forgotten, may you forever play to God´s Glory in His divine presence up there ... Soli Deo Gloria! ... Listen to his legacy here: czcams.com/video/hqh6VpbVOMo/video.html

interesting concept of muted military timpani/military march was a fresh breeze at the beginning but misfired a bit at 3:55-4:15 because it lost Brahmsian deapth in sequencial/modulational chords…

Love this BWV 564! Great registration selection for pedal voices! Very quick tempo - fingers have to go so fast! Great performance - thank you! (from Canada)
Genius Bach, Maestro Widor… stunning performance!

The control she has in her left hand is incredible. Currently working on this piece and maintaining dynamics while jumping octaves is difficult. Well done
Phantastisches Konzert, herausragende Interpretation: feinsinnig, kraftvoll dynamisch ausgewogen, tolle Symbiose aus Musikverständnis und behänder Technik . Chapeau!
