Hi, I am Dr. Daniel An. I teach mathematics at SUNY Maritime College. I wanted to help people by putting some of the precalculus and calculus lectures online. Enjoy!
For differential equations, I wrote a free textbook, where many of the examples are based on the videos. Please visit:
bit.ly/diffeqbook
Also, the lectures are easily viewable as playlists here:

Length of a hanging cable (catenary)
If you take a chain, a wire, or a cable by two ends and fix them at the same height, the parabola shape that you get is called a catenary. Here I discuss how to find the length of the cable given the width and length.
I also made an easy web-app to do the calculation. Here is the link:

I love his way of teaching .😊
Whattha
Such a humble and smart professor. Admire.
excellent introduction one of the least understood topics. MayI know the name of the part 2 video?
loved how straightforward everything was!
Amazing!
Great 👍 plz keep it up Dani
brilliant I wish you were my prof for real
Thank you sir ❤❤
Splendid!
when you re write the equation to equal zero you write x^2 when in the original equation it is just an x
you just saved my life this night God bless you
Found it helpful!
il est vrai si on fait x entre 0 et 2y d apres la figure ?
True teaching.
Thanks Professor! Finally understand. Very intuitive with a systematic approach.
Trivia: It was first proven by Nicolas Oresme in XIV century. Quite old proof
As always, a fantastic explanation. I always go into a video with Prof. Daniel intending to learn one idea, but I always leave having learned a bunch more.
10:34 I would greatly appreciate it if you could do the error function's Laplace transform. I gained more knowledge from your videos than from my six years of university.
I am envious of the students who are fortunate to study under this exceptional professor.
Amazing explanation as usual. Please keep up the great work and do not get discourged by the low number of views.
i like your method of explaining stuff
thanks so much
so good thank you
Love U bro!!! it's really heplful
thanks respectfully
Best tutorial i have watched
It was very clearly explained!
27:55 bessel functions pop up while solving the wave function for hydrogen atom too. This explanation really gives a feel for whats happening.
Very well explained, thank you
great lecture
Good explanation ❤... And I have a doubt, In some other videos they added the answers from the both r values to the final answer. Is that correct?
Yes, correct. What I show in the video is only half the solution. At the end, the final solution is the linear combination (i.e. added with coefficients) of the two solutions corresponding to each r value.
great video. thank you. helping me with quantum mechanics.
You are a saint, this is the first video that has actually made me understand this topic!
not bad
Thank you very much!
hi,sir can you please help me in understanding difference equations sir.please reply as fast as possible sir, because i have sem exams in the very near future.(from india ,time 00:22 now,so basis on this reply to me)
Can we do it with gamma function
What a gifted professor!
Man, your videos are amazing I have a question though. At minute 17, shouldn't we have to multiply by x^2? Because we also have the e^-2x repeated in Yc?
Very good!
Thank you for the lecture. You mentioned several times about the text book. Is book Evans?
No it wasn't Evans. I was using the book by David Powers. Evans book is very good! BTW, this is my older lecture. Please visit 100worksheets.com/mathingsconsidered.html for my newer pde lectures which is better.
@@daniel_an I do not know why, but I prefer old ones more) Anyway, I will check new videos after completing these lectures. Thanks again!
Thank you for posting this, i had this formula pop up in quantum mechanics and didn't understand where it came from. I still don't get how Rodriguez came up with this, but at least i understand why it works now.
It is so lame to be writting on a chalk board today. Copying notes with your back to the students is lame. Should use a computer with a big screen and eveything is wtitten in python or similar. Then one can run real examples and change them to show what haplens if...
Thank you. Finally understood why I'm doing it
Ya ... it's convergent (by Leibnitz's test)
Did anyone else get 16.65
