Yes, I do have wires running around. I tend to use 4 pieces of hardware at any one time. I have a bunch of others that I swap in and out. I have 4 pedals and I'd like to use that with various gear without having to individually wiring it up everytime I have a stupid idea. So I'm keen on the one you have, which is in my cart in Juno. I am honestly wondering how a desktop patchbay can make my life easier. I've watched your video a couple of times, and I really don't see how it makes things easier. I have 16 channels on my mixer. • @dudfaz
      @dudfaz Před 15 dny

      @@TheBrainvision Cool - you don't need a patch bay. For MONO pedals: Just get insert cables for all your pedals and label the TRS ends. When you want to put an instrument through a pedal, just grab the TRS end of the respective insert cable and plug it into the relevant insert socket on the mixer. For STEREO pedals: It depends on your setup and what you want to do.. Just remember that you can use the insert socket to take the signal out of a track, and you don't necessarily have to put it back in.

    @Dud Faz: I use the KMI K-Mix as mixer and audio interface. The inputs and outputs have balanced 1/4” jacks. Would you recommend sending the output signal of the DF Audio MINIBAY (e. g. of a mono synth) through a DI box for converting it to a balanced signal before going into the K-Mix?

    • @dudfaz
      @dudfaz Před 2 měsíci

      There's not much point in converting the signal to balanced so late in the path. I think it should be fine to put an unbalanced signal into your mixer inputs (certainly won't cause any harm to try).

    Bought the DF Audio nanopatch - first it was recalled and I had to send it back. When the "patched" version arrived, I lost one side of the stereo signal after 10 minutes or so. I then searched for the error for over an hour as I was working with vintage gear and suspected some 30-year old synth to be the culprit ... then it turned out to be the brand new nanopatch. So I trashed it and won't buy anything from DF Audio again. Just saying 😢

    I've rewatched the part with the FM and NTS-1 a few times and it continues to confuse me. Are you turning Jack 4 into an input? Is that why you're able to route 3 (out) to 4(in) and then route the wet signal to the fourth channel on the mixer? Are you essentially creating a send instead of an insert? Sorry for the bonehead questions, signal routing is my kryptonite.

    • @dudfaz
      @dudfaz Před 2 měsíci

      Haha, yeah I did something a bit unusual with the NTS-1 in this vid.. Channel 4 on the Nanopatch M is connected to the NTS-1 audio input and then the audio output of the NTS-1 (stereo) goes straight to the mixer. This configuration makes patching simpler but less flexible. No sends going on, but you wouldn't really call it an insert either. Just creating a patch point for the external audio input of the NTS-1.

    Great idea, but a cursory glance at the PCB has me wondering why the option to position the DIP switches perpendicular to their (current) position, which would allow external access via the side of the unit, wasn’t chosen/solved? External RAID enclosures employ this method. It’s an easier solution than un/screwing six chassis bolts. If I buy one of these, it would be for live performances that would require on-the-fly creative decisions, more so than studio composition. Having said all that, I haven’t seen anyone else doing what you have accomplished, it’s a great idea and I truly want it to be performance oriented as well as studio… …please, sir, succeed!

      Thanks Awkesome! A killer track came up on one of those personalised youtube playlists yesterday - I went to check the artist and turns out it was one of your live jams!

    fun keywork in this mate 👏 caught this in the HWJ streamthrough, had to come show my support 🙂 i like how your setup is somewhat minimal, yet you get a nice rich sound out of it

    Well look who it ain't. How goes it Dudz ? It's been a while. Well worth the wait though .....it's all sounding lovely. The set up looks sweet. 🙂

      Hey Jade! Yeah, certainly has - thanks for dropping by!! I've minimised the setup a bit and I quite like it nice and simple. Thanks for the compliment :) Hows things with you?

      @@dudfaz Yeah it looks fun like that. I pulled all my stuff off CZcams the other month to try & master them better because they sounded so rough 😔 It took months to learn a basic formula & now I'm slowly getting them back up on YT. New stuff is slower to achieve beacuse of it, but I have a new one almost finished. It was such a huge set back but I'm over it now. They sound much better for it, but I just wanted to make a bit of music not compete in a loudness war, with true peak & LUFS madness. Ever the compulsive perfectionist with a limited skill set.... It"s nice to see you back in the game 🎮

      @@jaderington Oh, I didn't realise you had stuff on CZcams! Cool that's convenient - I'll check them out later today. Good on you for making the effort with the mastering stuff. I am sooo far from being bothered with that, as you can hear in my tracks, haha.

      @@dudfaz When it's live like what you do, mastering is not an issue so much. It just sounds nice as it comes. I think making more clubby type of music requires the heavy compression/limiting & EQ to achieve that type of dance music sound. I'm getting much faster at it now and some of my newer stuff are still to be re~up to YT. It's not much better on here than SC was for view, but that's my cycle of job done then on with the next one. It keeps me out of trouble having a complex hobby. The mastering is all ITB & totally digital , no external audio interface or outboard gear used to polish me turd 😃 I would appreciate any feedback thanks Dudz 🙂

      @@jaderington I don't know much about all that, but your stuff really is sounding great! I especially dig Propoganda - gives me slight Yello "Oh Yeah" vibes with the incidental percussion ;)
