    Not sure whether it's considered negative or not. But this is more than a year ago, so it's unlikely anyone is still watching this live. If it isn't live, then it probably can do without the polling. If you're reworking it to be a presentation instead of a seminar, there are some small enhancements that would improve the structure. Most notably: it's all about cars. E.g.: What are the chances that the driver of the car can walk away after hitting a board that's skating at 10km per hour? So, start with the title, maybe even mention some of the myths, and then introduce the concepts necessary, preferably introducing only those necessary for each myth. As it is, I only got to 12 minutes in, but I expect there's much more good stuff on the topic, that's just hidden through the seminar structure.

    OK I normally don't do negative. But why waste time asking peoples opinions when to quote 'you don't care what they think'. What is a fairly dry subject isn't helped by making the lecture boring and you have succeeded in that. There seems to be a readiness to exclude efforts to reduce car usage which indicates that you are not looking at all the solutions. You are stuck in the US concept of car is everything. If you actually look at other nations it is possible to move people out of cars into other forms of transport.

      Thank you for your comments. If you have some specific constructive improvements we would be glad to discuss them with you. We are fans of both traffic calming and complete streets and the instructor actually lives where he does so he can walk to work and not use his car most days. He is huge fan of alternative forms of transportation and would be glad to discuss your concerns.

      Is there any resource for making country roads safer for pedestrians? Our road is gravel along a picturesque lake and only a single lane. The road used to be poorly maintained and not suitable for 2 wheel drive cars. The municipality responded to a complaint and fixed some areas and slightly widened the road. Cars can now pass each other in some areas but usually one car still needs to back up to a wider spot or driveway in order to pass. There are blind corners and hills. Vehicles often speed as it is now used as a short cut or quicker alternative route. I was considering cutting speed channels but I don't want to cause a dangerous condition for cyclists. A concerned citizen.

    Regarding the slurry seal operation, what is being sprayed on the existing pavement surface just in front of the spreader box?

    • @NYLTAPCornellLocalRoads
      @NYLTAPCornellLocalRoads Před 3 lety

      Hi Roger, Sorry for the late reply. In regards to your question: It is just water. It is not always needed, but you want to make sure the surface is properly damp before the slurry box. The water can also help with the temperature of the surface. Hope this helps!
