YAAYY I just started working for AMN
@@DesireeRomero-rq4gu that's amazing! Hi coworker, hahaha. Congrats!
I was just reading all your comments and makes me feel like I am not the only one struggling for nor understanding everything or having difficulties when translating it from my native language to English as in this case. In addition, I am just trying to encounter a lot of situations when i just started stuttering for not knowing how to explain it to the other party since it is my first time working as an interpreter and it has been a big challenge for me, so it has been like almost 4 months interpreting from b2b or sometimes the my are not calls at all for which it is difficult to make the minimum hours required per day. At the end of the day, I just want to get better than before, look back and feel proud of myself.
@@aztrid799 Hi Aztrid! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I know exactly how you feel. It's been some years since I uploaded this video and, as you said, I keep reading comments about the struggles of the job everyone's facing. I actually uploaded an update to this video you can watch here: czcams.com/video/z2UtyESQHvM/video.html Pleased let me know what you think, and we can continue sharing ideas and commented over there! Thank you again!
I find more difficult to translate form English into Spanish. Man! Some accents are really hard to understand.
Go on and on
Ayo Carlos!! Fellow translator and interpreter here!! I see we have lots in common like the language pair and hey, I also play the guitar... that's crazy heheh Thank you for making this video.. It made me feel seen! I'm starting a career as an interpreter and it can really get hard sometimes but I love the altruistic nature of what we do!! You got a new sub!! Please, keep making this type of content😊 Muchos éxitos en tus projectos!!❤
Hola! Mucho gusto. Yeah, we have lots in common, hahah. That's cool! Thank you so much for your kind words, igualmente, mucho éxito en todo.

I just got hired with Language Line Solutions.. 🙏🏻it’s a challenge for sure, but I hope all goes well. Do you have any recommendations on how to improve note-taking, paying attention, or learning terminology quickly? Any tips appreciated.
Hey, congratulations! Best of luck with your new job. About the tips... Well, I always say that you should focus on retaining and delivering the main idea of the message, not like the exact same structure. And use your notes just for details, like numbers, dates, etc. Try to write as eligible as possible or else you'll find yourself trying to decipher what you just wrote, and find your own system of symbols and abbreviations.
@@Eteneme Thank you!
Thank u so much ...i am going to have this job with your company AMN soon....i hope this experience is flexible and easy to me
Congratulations! And best of luck
do you have any experience with interpretia? ive been told that i should take it as an entry level job where i can get my training, some experience, get promoted to medical interpreter and then move to a better one, if you have any experience with them how was it? saludos y gracias por contar tu experiencia tus videos fueron muy útiles🥰
Muchísimas gracias! Un abrazo enorme. About Interpretia, I actually haven't heard anything about them, but I know what you mean, I did the exact same thing with LLS all the way back when I started, and it was through a company called Human Quality. Training, experience and then medical. So if that's something that worked from someone you know, I think you can definitely give it a try. Worse case scenario, you simply jump into another entry level company before they break you, hahaha
Gracias! Estoy por terminar el curso de legal interpreting. Se llama CITI, court interpreter training institute de la University of Arizona
Eso está genial! Muchísimas felicidades y suerte con el resto del curso!
How much would an average wage be?
Oh, wow. Well, to be honest I don't know what the average is as I'm also a translator. I work as an interpreter to have a constant income in case I don't have a lot of work from my own clients. So in my case, I just need enough to pay for rent, monthly expenses and some left for saving... so yeah, in regards to wages I know it varies a lot depeding on the country you work from.
What about propio ?
Hi Giuliana! What do you mean?
Would you recommend the company?
@@Gpch1728 Well... On the one hand, I didn't have a bad experience with them, but on the other hand, I just couldn't see myself with them as my main job because I live in Mexico, and the contract didn't offer what I was looking for. But I worked with them years ago, so I honestly don't know how is the working environment nowadays.
Friend, you are so 100% spot on! I have 42 years into this career. It CAN be a thankless job. We have to find our "thanks" and feel the rewards. They are there. Yes, it's exhausting, but we can rest in finding our balance. Good to see this new video. I've been waiting 4 years! Keep up the good work.
42 years?! That's amazing! We should have a conversation one day, maybe share some words here in a video.
@@Eteneme good idea. Check your email
Dude I really struggling with short term memory. What is the longest utterance i should be able to interpret to do medical ? I ve studied the vocab for 4 mo already but I can only recall 10 second without notes, and 20 seconds note-aided.
Well, the job itself will keep you training your memory retention. But, there's actually no right or wrong amount of information you need to retain. In fact, here comes into play something that will be your biggest ally, and that is: Interpreter's Etiquette. You're the one in charge to assist with the communication, but, it doesn't matter how much you retain, what matters is HOW you ask the parties involved to use shorter sentences/phrases, and HOW you interrupt them if needed: "Hi, this is your interpreter talking. In order to maintain the accuracy of the session, I'll have to ask you to use full and short sentences, please." That's it. That's what any company actually looks for: an interpreter who knows how to be professionally in charge of the session, specially when it gets difficult.
Un abrazo!
Un abrazo de regreso!
I like to be an over the phone interpreter, i failed my 3 week training and I would like to start a good course to be repared. Do you know which I could look into? Appreciate your answer.
Hi, Edith! Thank you so much for your comment. About a course, that depends. What was the area you found difficult or that made you fail your training?
Taking notes!! It was soo😢 difficult, maybe nervous, it is my first time i do this, that could not remember the last part. 😢 Thank you for answering. It is very true all of your comments

@@Eteneme thank you for the video, man. There are so many companies in the market that I don't know which one I can rely on in the long term.
Awesome. That explains a lot about the job. It made me understand that it's definitely not an easy task at first. Also that you must put some work and effort on perfecting language skills, adapting it to the field you are getting in.

woking for 6 months here, damn they really know how to torture the INTs, seeing them have more than 10mins available during end of year (oct, nov, dec) they just got like a tons of new clients without getting more ints fast enough to facilitate that, and crazy thing is at the meeting, they said the back2back calls are from other interpreters taking longer breaks, not following schedule yadi yada and think we're dumb enough not noticing all the new clients name popping up out of nowhere lol. But they know their pay is good for the living standard here so people's gonna apply for this anyway

i didn't even finish highschool and i am working as a part time spanish interpreter, tbh all you need is to develop a very sharp understanding of the language and you'll be getting paid just to talk to people.
OMG, you are sooo wrong! Interpreting is not about "just talking". Speaking 2 languages doesn't make one an interpreter. Come on!
You're correct, that's exactly what I said!
@@inak8549 my paycheck doesnt say the same tho... Nah but honestly, yes there is much more than just speaking two languages; terminology, memory, nerves and vocabulary are crucial, i have friends that got their english certified and didnt get through training.
