They use to serve Sour Cream Raisin pie at Bakers Square or Poppin Fresh in the 80s. It was my moms and my favorite. I’ll have to try your recipe it looks the closest so far of what I’ve seen. It was a white creamy consistency. 😊

My mom is 89 yrs old and I found out raisin pie is her favorite. How we gone through all these years and never knew that. Five daughters you would think one of us would have asked. My mother and I were at a farmers market last summer and she walked up to an Amish pie stand and I heard her if they had raisin pie. She told them it was her favorite.😮😱😳🥺They told her no they did not. So tomorrow is thanksgiving and I'm on the search for raisin pie recipe. Thank you now I have work to do. God Bless.

I'm from North Carolina. Raised on grits. I've never even been able to TRY them sweetened. (Southerners generally don't like cornbread sweet like Northerners tend to eat it, either.) I generally eat grits with just butter, salt and pepper, but very often will crumble bacon or sausage into it. Sometimes cheese, but not usually. But . . . I'll also put white sausage gravy on top or even red-eye gravy if we're having country ham with our eggs.

My grandma used to make this, but it also had onions and instead of taco seasoning, it had chili seasoning and some Worcestershire. She just poured the cornbread on the top and baked it, once browned she would cover it with cheese and melt the cheese on top. Good stuff!

I wish my mom was still alive so we could do stuff like this too. Only I, not mom would be eating chips as we're cooking, LOL. I dig the mother/son relationship.

The problem with making it like this is if you don’t finish it, it’s soggy the next day. I prefer making it one bowl at a time and just microwaving the chili until hot first. You get the proper crunch consistency that way.

But with Diabetes you shouldn't eat that way. To much fat. Fat is why people get Diabetes at i know because after i stopped eating the fatty foods i dropped my Diabetes from a A1C of 8.4 to a 5.9 with no meds. Just eating only fruits and vegetables

The cream of what ever soup is all flour and little bit of broth🤮if you eat the pork shops with some veggies you would have much more healthier food and life 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can you use butter instead of lard or shortening?

How thick were your slices? And do you like it better slices, or diced since you have made both versions? I bet it would be delicious with diced up dates in it instead of raisins also :)
