You need to match before color grading with set design and costume etc to really get the right result.

It doesn't work at all. It was so annoying. But I figured out apply grade works. Not match. Not on mine at least.

Heck yeah dude glad you are getting good use of the DCTLs! If you do experience breaking in the image with heavier grades, putting the DCTLs before the conversion LUT or CST can sometimes help. That way the DCTL has the most data to work with.

The C70 shots look significantly better on the whole to me. It was very easy to guess which was which. There's more detail in both the shadow and highlight areas for starters. The R7 is sharper, and I imagine that's what's catching your eye. Also, C Log 2 requires more post contrast adjustment than C Log 3, so the grading here shows the R7 as having more contrast. That would disappear with more carefully matched grading. Also worth remembering that Fine 4K on the R7 is limited by thermal management, whereas high-bitrate codecs have no thermal limitations on the C70. All that said, the R7 held up really, really well in these comparisons, and I'm likely going to be getting one as a C-cam / backup.

Trying to match shots taken on an FX6, this NEVER works for me. The shot receiving the grade always looks underexposed and over saturated. Maybe it’s a bug.

Honestly no offense whatsoever but I never liked the R7's image in any sample you shot. The C70 just looks much better in ever shot to me.
