We had two 730s pulled 4 bottoms behind each in 4th gear
This was popular back in the late 60s around here. I still have the hitch somewhere at the farm. We had a late D in the back. The trick is to get each tractor to pull equally. Works best in large fields. Once , the then big 100 HP tractors became affordable, that's the way every one went. We pulled a 12 ft chisel plow or a 20 ft wheel disk with the twins. I bought my IH turbocharged 806D used in 73, quite a step up! Still have it. Today we run a few 200 HP tractors for most heavy work.
In some ways, not a bad idea. I would hope the clutch linkage stays right, with no problems. If it were to fail, for some reason, the rear tractor might push both of them out of control. It might be wise to wire in an emergency kill switch, on the front tractor to cut the ignition on the rear tractor, just in case something like that were to happen.
@@wmden1 already a step ahead of you it has a safety shutoff cable 😃
@@timclark5333 Good deal.
I have a decompression lever that kills it if I need to.
Nices very clean 👌 the older work perfect ❤
Thanks, I had one. Now a 730 ES.
nice but can those straight pipes please
😂
No 1200s or 1470s
Looks like a great show 🤠👍
Allergies
My dad had a '68 45 square back with a 235 corn head. He would drive a lot faster through the field than in this video. Maybe the corn yield now is a lot more than back then?
@@eeengineer8851 I really couldn't push it that was at a show 😂
That's got to be so fun. I hope someday I can be doing that.
How much for the dog? Seriously, I would love to come for a visit to see your antique JD equipment. I have some old tillage pieces and several 2 cyl tractors and live in NW Ohio. I am a retired US Army Veteran and have a few things on my bucket list. Visisting your farm is one of them.
Can't have the dog he's on Rat patrol 😂 But we love our old green equipment 😁
@@timclark5333 Any chance I can come for a visit some day?
Nice
We had a used 1755 Oliver new 1655 Oliver and a jd 2950 fwd with loader
Oliver is my favorite tractor
Sweet music,2 cyls, radial aircraft engines and steam locomotives.
Pretty cool!
Awesome sound!
Nice plowing video. I love to see these old tractors doing their thing. Unfortunately I haven't been to a plow day event in quite a while. Nice to see a video of one recently.
Someone knows how to set a combine for soybeans!
You dont happen to be at the Indiana State Fair Grounds would you? Those buildings in the background and tractors look familiar. Would be dope for them to put up more signs n educational things about them during the fair
Gorgeous. Beautiful farm land.Fabulous John Deere
Great outfit! I never ran mounted picker, we had a 2 row NI on an Allis when I was a kid. Went to pull type in the '80's. 2RN in the '90's. Looks like a good job husking.
Happy operator 😂
Man that fly wheel looks bent up
My dad had one of these when I was a kid in the late '70s. It was a 45e round back with belt pickup header for grain.
Hi Tim! Was this 2023? The mud on the 45s tires says no.We were there and no mud was to be found , just 96 degrees and dry.
No this was 2021 I believe 😃 last year it was 🔥🥵
It's a blast to drive 😃
$1000 to $2000 combine, “estimated cost today depending on condition,” throwing out beautiful clean grain, compared to today’s $300,000 and up combines throwing all kinds of junk in the bin along with Sensors going out if you hold your mouth in the wrong position. Great video, Jimbob dandy equipment that I love to see in operation. Take care, and stay safe fellas.
I don't know much about John Deere tractors, but I do know a whole bunch about the plow they were showing at the end of the video. That looks like a Deere 555 plow. It was our primary tillage plow pulled by our Super W6 International Harvester tractor. We pulled it a bit faster than shown here, and we found it worked best if the tongue of the plow was parallel to the ground otherwise the plow tended to float. Nice seeing videos of tractors with the right size plows behind them instead of 4020 pulling little three bottom plows.
Probably making more money that the farmers with millions in equipment.
Reminds me of my childhood, dad had the R hooked up to the combine doing soybeans.
That bring,s back a lot of memories.
Pretty cool set up, never really seen a 42 combine in action. Man how things have changed.
We had the 3-pt version. When I was young, the first time I was around, I had a wicked allergy attack from all the dust and pollen. We used it to empty out the cribs until it finally wore out (bearing and shaft). Hated the discharge pipes. in the end we just made it dump into an elevator. It was quite the operation.
Ya clean for sure there's million dollar JD combines now that don't do that good a job doesn't say much for technology I think were going backwards
It's pulling a John Deere 5 bottom plow
Nice setup. How many furrows in total
That’s great to see those old tractors being used again instead of parked in a barn somewhere!
Many have never stopped being used. We still use our tractors from the 50's that were new for Grandpa.
I enjoy seeing how other small farmers do things
This has got to be one of the coolest machines ever built by man !!!
Never could understand why anyone would harvest corn with a combine. Thanks for the shot of sanity.👍
Nice to see some older equipment still working
We congratulate you, you are introducing us to the village and country life in a pure and clear way, with a nice level of sincerity.thank you
Really enjoyed the model 60 sounded great! That was the big tractor when I was in high school.
Very well performing video. Good video, so I see why. Thanks for the upload!
Was this filmed on a potato?
No I just use my cell phone some videos are better than others I'm no professional 😃
Nice content, don’t listen to the haters, very good capture of the sound of the poppers, someone needs to make a go to sleep track of these running, I could sleep like a baby, keep up the good work, I’m subbed, looking forward to more poppers
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed watching, even if it is cellphone videos.
Wow!!!!picking 1 row at a time. The old timers worked there busts off........
Butts
Better than by hand
Wow how big is the field and how long did it take?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the video. First time seeing a pull-type Deere 42 in action. I worked for my uncle who had a 720. I did tillage work and ran the corn chopper with it. Always admired it.
