      I had to go watch the video again because it's been so long LOL The paint was the regular mix. The brush bristles are short, so they just picked up a tiny bit of paint and allowed me to sort of scrub the paint on.

    It's been three years and yet another hand surgery since I've posted a video. Since then, I decided to give up my company and my home studio. Now I've spread my supplies thru five different rooms LOL I've been focusing on gardening, family, and personal projects, but I still end up making messes. There's always enough time to make a mess, but never enough to clean it up. So wish me luck with reorganizing all this paper.

    You are the first person I've seen on the oil and cold wax videos to add the gel to the cold wax. Interesting. I've only seen the cold wax mixed directly with the paint. What difference does it make in the application of the paint. Is it more translucent? I've only painted with straight cold wax and oil.

    • @StudioPashnada
      @StudioPashnada Pƙed 3 lety

      I first say the gel on CZcams years ago. Guess I should have told why I use it LOL Adding galkyd gel to straight oil paint or to oil+cold wax makes the paint more translucent, more stiff for texture/impasto, speeds up drying time a bit, and makes it more flexible & durable so it's less prone to cracking & can be used on canvases. You can also increase your ratio of cold wax to oil paint when it's mixed with the gel for even more transparency. Thanks for watching.

      that does seem counterintuitive, doesn't it? LOL Maybe a more accurate way to put it is you want it to dry faster than oil paint on the substrate but not dry out on the palette

    Curious why you use canvas boards since warping is such an issue? I would not use it myself nor would I purchase a piece done on canvas board for that reason. Since it’s a common problem, it doesn’t make sense to me. đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

      The whole point is that when canvas boards are prepped properly, they DON'T warp. And not everyone can afford to buy canvases for experimentation purposes. I'm so glad you can.
