Just now stumbled onto your cool channel ! Sub'd & rang🤙Very nicely done my friend!
Thank you!
With cattle slow down or stop if need be . DO NOT heard them down the road if a cow breaks its leg or anything the rancher can and most likely hold you responsible I came from Oregon proper etiquette around cattle is important . when you see them slow down move slowly stay as far to one side as possible that tells the cattle they need to go the other side . if there is a cliff you want to be on the cliff side they will go up . If they run down the middle of the road give them space they will most likely go to an area . If they just continue running down the road then stay to one side speed up as your judgement stay on one side or you will confuse them once you have safe opening get past them as quickly and safely as you can . Ranchers now have cameras all over their property and when a main road goes through like a BDR and their cattle are on it they will have cameras and if you just run through them you will be held liable and people have been charged many many thousands of dollars . The ranchers expect us to know proper behavior around their cattle . Most of these cows are used to people going by . I grew up around all of this . slow and steady . If you just stop and stare at them you will probably look like your going to kill them . Keep moving get past go . I have gotten off my bike and walked it through if there are hundreds of them sometimes it's best to walk through or cause a stampede . Sometimes most of the time cows are stupid . Sometimes they will do everything you don't want them to do. Be safe ""RIDE ON""
Thank you for the explanation! I always wondered what the proper etiquette and procedure was.
This area is also know by a 2 nd name . Drugs smugglers memorial . The smugglers hide amongst the tourists.
What a great route. Easy to see your improved off-road riding skills Scotty!
Those boots are a great way to snap your ankle.
Excellent presentation, The DR650 is an amazing bike and handled the long freeway haul, back roads and trail with ease. I certainly complement you on your skill. I did Keven's AZBAT in which follows Cherry Creek north to Young. It is not big bike friendly with intense rock hopping. It was the most technical advanced trail I ever experienced. I sub'd and will enjoy watching your series. A video link is available upon your request only.. as I do not want to infringe on your series...thanks for reading my comment.
Thank you for watching! Appreciate your kind words.
What GPS are you using? Looking for one myself.
I use a Garmin Zumo XT. There is a newer version called the Zumo XT2.
@@ScottyADV thx, great video by the way. Looked like a awesome ride. Look forward to more. Subscribed.
Good job Scotty, did az bdr a couple years ago. It's phenomenal! Doing Idaho in August. Best to you..."Rattlesnake Rider"
What tires are on your bike?
Thanks for watching. I am running MotoZ Dual Venture front and RallZ Rear.
Great video! We were just a couple of days ahead of you. Started at Pioneer Pass south of Globe on 5/23 and finished at Utah border on 5/26. Perfect weather for the AZBDR! I was on a bigger bike - ZERO DSR/X - so that expert section into Young was not so easy! The big electric Adventure bike was able to do the whole route!! See "Impossible?" video on Amped Rider channel. Love your videos and comments!
Thank you! I seen your post on the Facebook group. Excellent achievement by you and your team. Was it easy to manage your charging throughout the BDR?
@@ScottyADV Good question. Charging was no problem on this BDR. I used the Plugshare app to find charging locations along the route and simply plugged into a regular outlet at night for a full charge overnight.
Smart solution in the back. Was wondering about the lock until I saw the welcro. Smart guy this one 😉👍
Awesome ride on the DR650.
Thank you!
What rear tire did you use?
Motoz RallZ!
Nice! Ordered mine today, hopefully I got the right size. Foot meaures close to 10 so i got the 44. Also hope that they can accommodate my crazy asian wide feet haha
Im between this and the DR650 myself. End goal is to get good enough at trail riding that I can take the bigger bikes I actually want (VStrom 800 or Africa Twin) The 310GS is closer to those bikes I want to build up to, but I wonder if the DR650 would be better for building experience and knowhow.
I was new rider to street and offroad. The G310 GS was a perfect learning bike. If i already had street riding experience the DR650 would be perfect as it's much better offroad and has less stuff to break.
Thanks for responding! Seems like the DR650 would be a better bet for me then, I have on-road experience so just trying to develop my offroading skills primarily. @ScottyADV Hows your experience with modifications and dealing with carbs on the DR650? That's the most intimidating for me at the moment, though I'm used to doing all my maintenance.
Happy you got to visit AZ, looking forward to watching your other videos regarding the AZBDR!
Good for you, sir! Keep up the good work.
I’m hoping to purchase either a Honda 750 Transalp or an Appria Tourette 660. Then I will definitely take this ride, but hope to go with three other people.
You should never go out by yourself specially on a BDR, and specially in the Arizona wilderness without a gun of some sort. I would never go without a gun, rifle or shotgun. You never know what you’re gonna come across out there by yourself. Just a suggestion!
Hi Scott, My 2018 has the same color as yours, and is still stock. When I saw your video 5 years ago, I thought I should try it. But I have never done any dirt road. Well, 5.5 years later I had done perhaps 100 ft of dirt. Two days ago I threw caution to the wind and thought to just try a little bit, and turn around if it seemed too much. Well, to my surprise I rode all the way to the top and back without dropping the bike. That loose rock section near the top was really dicey for me. I thought it would hurt a lot if I should fall on those big sharp rocks. Beginner’s luck perhaps. With this ride, now I am more confident about myself and my bike on hilly dirt road. Still, I was glad to be back on the paved road of Silverado Canyon. I will try HWY395 and PCH at some time. So Scott, thanks for the “road map”! BTW, when you rode up Santiago Peak again a year ago with the knobby tires, how much better is the grip compared to the factory Metzeler Tourance?
Good job! As long as you get out there and try. Yea knobbies are confidence inspiring.
Been there several times. Also, the road to Tortilla Flats along the Salt River before it was closed. Good job on the video and commentary!
Thank you for watching. I'm hoping to explore more of the area again. Maybe if they open the apache road.
How big is Craig? He dwarfs that KTM lol.
Haha he is a rare breed of giant. Probably 6'2" to 6'5" lol
Im always jealous of the vast nothingness all these western states have.
What hydration bag are you using near the tank?
I use a Mosko Moto Gnome. Check out a video of it here. czcams.com/video/3TcmWrhFrhM/video.htmlsi=c7MAc3rtl8oFRS3U
Nice ride. Did you start from Bouquet Cyn? Is there a way you can show me the route? Thanks.
Loved the video. What time of year did you do it?
Thank you for watching. This was in Feb 2024.
I live near that trail and have the same bike and helmet, you mentioned a couple times about “clear goggles” why didn’t you just take them off and use the clear shield on your helmet?
Thanks for watching. The shield kept fogging up on me. I did buy a pin lock shield and it's been smooth sailing since.
Ironically Im planning to move to AZ soon. And have been wanting to get a DR650, with an eye to eventually do a BDR This video has that all, much appreciated!
Thank you for watching!
Looks amazing! You’re brave going solo. I’m too nervous to do long trips like this solo. Looking for ADV buddies though 😅
Great video! What brand windscreen is that? Thanks
Thanks, I bought the brand justech from Amazon.
Damn dude what a beautiful ride. Absolutely stunning views thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Just went through there over the weekend during our Crooked Raven waypoint scramble, camped above Roosevelt. Beautiful area
What day of the week was this?
Mid February 2024
if you can't dodge a wrench
Haha that's funny, in this case it was if you can't dodge a Dodge.
You located around So Cal? Looking for someone to ride with here! I'm San Bernardino County. Thanks for the content, always enjoy it! 👍👊
Yep, in the same county. What do you ride? We can hit up some trails one day.
@ScottyADV ive got an oldie but goodie. 2008 DL650 Vstrom. I'm looking for a more dual-sport style though. Took the Vstrom through some sand a few times, and it was rough to say the least! 🤣 I'll watch for when you are back in the area and reach out again! 👍
Thanks for taking us along. I have a '23 DR650 as well, and watching those with the same machine doing the routes I want to see further inspires me to go hit these awesome routes. Great vids, and hopefully you can keep em rolling. 👍
Thank you! Yes, get your DR out on an adventure :)
Hey, there's the cactus on the plate too!
Just did that road (04/13/24) from West to East. Road was dried out except for the occasional creek crossings.
That first cut into the intro was sweet with the exposure and contrast of the bike and tarmac.....!
Nice! What kind of suspension setup do you have on your DR? You seem fearless.
Stock suspension! I do want something more for my weight....or I should really just hit the gym and lose a few pounds lol
First time I took my DR out in Four Peaks I slid and never got the confidence. Now on Cogent front and rear, it’s a totally different bike.
stunning location!
Yes it is, I need to go back to AZ to see the rest.
Super cool to see you riding in my area! I have a DR as well. I plan to do some vids with it as well. Thank you for the adventure!
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful terrain....really picked a great location for another great vid!
Thank you! Blessed for perfect weather that day too.
Very nice looks like fun .. I'm planning on doing a couple middle sections of the Nevada bdr on my dr650 soon or a Bodie ghost town run and make up my own rout around there. Thanks for the good videos it was also fun watching you work the little 310 GS
Not even sure how many times I watch this short video by far one of the best I've ever seen
Thank you for watching!
