@@Magnus.Skovrand I try to stay away from eBay nowadays. Too many bad buyers and eBay will side with them before they'll take pity on a seller. It looks to have something to do with the white cog that sits deep in the machine that's a little forward of the spindle. It doesn't turn to rise the cage. I can manually turn it halfway, but I feel like I'll break something else if I force it any further. I don't dare take the machine apart to that extent, as I'll never be able to reassemble it.

But there is no experience specifically with LD devices. They have not found popularity in my country, so I don’t know any experienced technicians either.

Hard to answer without having that power supply on my bench for measurements. There can be many reasons for that. The most common cause on this psu that is in the video is the arc suppressor 14:00

I can’t even guess based on just that. You dont mention if player behaved the same before etc. Did you clean mode switch etc. A lot more info needed..

The majority of laserdisc collectors pay hundreds of dollars on a movie without hesitation. But when it comes to fixing a player, they hesitate.

Did you calibrate after changing optical pickup?

I have the service manual and I tried to calibrate the focus gain and tracking gain, but I haven't the laserdisc test so I made it random

Not all is shown in this video. I tested it after replacing capacitors and it would spin up and then loose focus and stop. Cleaned the lens and it would play, but not perfect. Did a full calibration mechanical and electronical. All adjustment points where more or less off spec. Now it runs better than ever.

It could be the tray support wheels, it could be cracked belt pulley.

I change them all when it's on a power supply. If you only replace the bad ones, it's only a matter of time before more break. I use industrial isopropanol on a cotton swab.

I don't remember what brands were used in this video as it was a long time ago. I tend to stick with Nichicon, Nippon Chemi-Con and Panasonic for the most part. Some other brands like Kemet, RND etc occur.

@@jmw06003 Issue 1: No, I haven't seen that exact problem before. Some in measurements with an oscilloscope, then you quickly find out where the problem is. If you are lucky, you can see it if you take an inspection. The DVL machines have SMD electrolytic capacitors in video board which can fail and leak. It can also be related to issue 2. Issue 2: It can be: Old and dirty grease, m-holder, needs new calibration etc etc.
