This is how the EPIRB and its Hydrostatic Release Unit works
Leon explains how the Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) works to automatically release (water pressure) and start (water contact) an EPRIB when the ship sinks and you find no time to get your EPIRB (e.g. in case of collision at sea). An essential piece of equipment for any sailor be it ocean, offshore or coastal sailing.

Was there 2017 Factory Acceptance Test on a Indra Normac ILS 7000B systems. -13 deg not quite temp for someone from the tropics lol, beautiful facility and professional services.

Yes, we know what it is supposed to do, but how does it actually work inside?
The unit responds to pressure. The release of the EPIRB occurs when the HPU responds to the pressure.
@@jotron_since1967 of course it responds to pressure, but how does it work? Show the mechanism inside and how the pressure of the water causes it to deploy please. If I'm trusting this thing with the life of my crew, I want to understand.
it's a sort of cutting device ( blade ) , something sharp that is cutting the plastic pin and the arc behind is released and pushing all outside the cover.
