    This is avery abbreviated clip. The scrwedriver solution is highly risky since the connection cable might be placed between the chassis and a brake fluid line that requires to pull the cable a bit hope its long enough means you cant just pull the sensor out because you have to disconnect the cable from the sensor within that tight space and of course reconnect. Clever trick from bmw to force you to go to the shop, have the brake fluid reservoir moved out to do the job. I personally will build me a tool next days to get that thing out hope it works without damaging the cable. Or else invest 500 bucks to the shop to be on the save side or go without start and stop. And same have oil problem, draining oli at 1000km 1,2l oil, now changed at Mobil oil 10w40 and it look like it is comsuming a lower oil (maked over 2000km and still no +1l oil on dash), i know that on dashboard cluster lcd it is showing more oil that i can see on dipstick, like it show on lcd that it is on half of oil but on dipstick on minimum is oil. Do you have any tips related to start stop system and oil missing problem? And yea car is running normaly to me, bought it half year ago and driving it to work and home every day without a problem, only when i am on high speed road after dunno 30min high speed (130km/h) my car goes like into limp mode, like it have less power until i stop turn it off and on again, then it is normal, no slow power mode

    Nice vid, but I'd recommend having the EGR mapped out on these engines. They tend to cause problems continually even if the car seems to behaving okay with no codes or other obvious issues present. The problem is that they are often open more than they should be which causes the engine to run a tad rough and underpowered, but hardly noticeable, this is then compounded by the fact the ECU tries to compensate by delivering more fuel, which in turn leads to a faster build up of deposits in the inlet manifold etc. Eventually the deposits can become so heavy that they prevent the swirl flaps inside the manifold from being able to function properly, they can stick or even worse snap, this can obviously cause serious engine damage, usually because a piece of the broken flap gets lodged under the inlet valve holding it open, which results in the piston striking it, the outcome from this is usually not good at all. Also worth doing a leak off test on injectors once and a while, these units are prone to the seats wearing out prematurely. It's true a leak off test can only detect excessive flow through the spill off side of the injector and not leakage from the tip, but it's quite likely a faulty injector will likely leak both sides anyway, so it's a good idea to keep an eye on them.

      I have a 1.6 65 plate insignia and I have this dpf fault. Was thinking of blanking it but heard some horror stories of the engine blowing up because of it

    • @Altair885
      @Altair885 Před rokem

      @@powerhouse2669 Unfortunately you can't just blank it off on these more modern systems, the ECU will recognise that there's a lack of gas flow through the EGR system and will illuminate the EML light on the dash. It has to be mapped out by someone competent, but beware many aren't, and this can be the reason people run into trouble when having this procedure carried out. Another option is to fit a restrictor plate, this is basically the same as a blanking plate but it has a hole drilled in it that only allows enough gas through to prevent triggering of the EML. It's not perfect but it does considerably extend the time scale before issues are encountered by the build up of carbon from the EGR system.

    • @catxls1835
      @catxls1835 Před rokem

      Excellent advice. If I have it mapped out, I will obviously need a blacking plate but, which pipe am I blanking? Also, would it pass the emission test? Thumbs up bud!

    • @Altair885
      @Altair885 Před rokem

      @@catxls1835 The benefit of having it mapped out is that you don't need the blanking plate, as the valve will never be commanded open again anyway. Blanking plates were simply a cheap fix for the older style EGR systems without the need to use a mapping service. Regarding emissions. If the mapping has been carried out by a competent technician then there should be no problems getting the car through its annual test, but beware if its done badly there can be issues with higher emissions and increased fuel consumption. Best to seek advice or recommendations on a suitable online forum for your vehicle, ask if anyone has had a good experience with any local tuners in your area.
