About Visual River Atlas
The Visual River Atlas is the first-ever and pioneer initiative in history on river education aiming to conduct satellite research and create videos to visualize the world's river routes. This is a unique platform to connect the mass-people with the global river dimensions, so that they can see practically the river flows from its source to sea, without going through a hundred reference books or maps. It was initiated in 2016.
Key Objectives:
1. To conduct satellite research and create videos on river routes
2. To make physical video documentaries on the different river routes
3. To conduct research on multi-dimensional river issues
4. To disseminate the research findings and documentary to the wider audience including policy makers, academicians, researchers, youth networks, media etc.
5. To sensitize and make aware the next generation on river conservation through interactive campaigns, targeting the youth groups

The Alakananda River is one of the major rivers in the Uttarakhand state of northern part of India. It originates in the Himalayas, specifically from the confluence of the Satopanth Glacier and the Bhagirath Kharak Glacier near the Nanda Devi peak in Uttarakhand.
This is the first ever video on Alakananda River that shows the entire river routes with its major five confluences (Panch Prayag).
