In this video, I will revisit the installation of a USB socket in the center console shifter surround on the 2008 Honda Element! After mentioning it in the old video (czcams.com/video/ifTsCOs4370/video.html) and then getting a comment asking how I would do it, I felt like now might be the time to go ahead and update the install. I Also will go over some other install wiring options, with a couple of possibly useful diagrams. Stay tuned for another Element video coming soon, after this quick update video!

      @BILLT_YT Před 9 dny

      @Tipsona I do still drive the car, but not full-time. I will say this, for the price the mounts are a great stop gap. Oem mounts can range upward of $200+ for each mount, and this set came in under $100 for the set. That being said, these are cheap, and I would probably find a better middle ground if I did it again. I will be making an update video going over the parts that I have used and comparing these bargain parts vs oem and other options.

  • @RandomGreymane
    @RandomGreymane Před 13 dny

    Keep in mind that if you replace the climate control bulbs with the LED ones you’ll have to do it with the controls connected and the dash circuit on. Otherwise you can’t get the polarity of the LEDs correct.

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT Před 12 dny

      In this case, I went with OEM as the form factor is pretty specific, but definitely worth noting anytime changing out incandescent bulbs to LED things like polarity and even resistance/current draw can be a consideration worth tracking

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT Před 15 dny

      @TheDJRock562 not sure tbh, I think receipts are necessary, if he knows the vendor he may be able to get reprints of the receipts or an invoice, but this is uncharted territory for me. • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT Před 21 dnem

      Definitely, emergency tools and maneuvers are key components for any mechanic. I think learning techniques as well as when to use them for unexpected situations, or how to avoid them is key. Luckily I both live in the south (so I deal with less corrosion and rust) as well as have the situation to often times not need to find an immediate solution, allowing me to order parts and complete a more in depth repair at a later date, but that is not usually the case for most situations.

      Yes. I bought a motorcycle that only needed to have a new key made (the thief did a real nice job replacing the ignition) but since insurance paid the previous owner on the theft claim it was still salvage. Georgia is nuts about this. In SC you don't have to do anything. Salvage or new makes no difference to DMV.

    So I am located in Clayton county GA I just bought a 2012 Suzuki GSXR600 from South Carolina and unknowing that the title is rebuilt. The title I have is branded not actual mileage and while at the tag office trying to transfer the title over they made me aware of the vehicles history saying I need an inspection. Could you provide me with the info of the guy that was mobile to you? I was going to go to McDonald collision repair in Forest Park but if I could save having to tow the bike that will be ideal for me. What all will I need in my case? I only have the title and it’s been signed over to me but to not transferred by the state due to needing an inspection. I don’t have photos of damage, I don’t have the bill of sale, I don’t have a photo of the sellers ID, I only have the title. Supposedly the bike was salvaged in Texas in 2014 and titled there and then came to South Carolina and it was obviously titled there as I have a South Carolina title. Now it’s in GA with me being the new owner and and anxious I’m out $6,000. The bike looks brand new and rides great. I had to ride it 3 hours home and have been riding it about 30 minutes to and from to McDonough for work everyday but I have stopped riding it because I don’t want to get stopped and the bike towed away and then I’d have no way to retrieve it as I have the title but the state hasn’t transferred it to my name because of needing an inspection. Is there any advice you could give me and is there anyway you could give me the contact information of the mobile inspector you used? Thanks for the video very helpful!

    Thanks for the video. Did the repair cost more than the vehicle itself?

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT Před 5 měsíci

      for me... no, but the bodywork hours can add up... so if you arent doing it yourself it can easily run the price up. With that being said the car is still in primer and I havent decided what my plans are to change that yet. I think in the end the repairs will eventually exceed what I paid... but its still notably below the market value for the car.

      @jeronimomurillo7906 I don't know for sure either... tag office is likely easier and wouldn't require dor if you are good to go, personally I'd give the tag office a shot, but my experience was with a ga salvage title so I required the dor step

      @@jeronimomurillo7906As long as you have proof of passing the rebuilt title inspection, I don’t see why going to the local tag office would be a problem. Worst case scenario they can make a copy of all your documents and mail them to the DOR. If anything goes wrong just contact your inspector.

    • @tylerb3023
      @tylerb3023 Před 5 měsíci

      The inspection site is responsible for sending your documents(MV-1 Title/Tag application) to the DOR after you pass inspection. Call them because they did the inspection and know how the process works. They should be able to mail all your information to the DOR so you can receive your documents in the mail. You should at least receive the title in the mail and just take that to your local tag office to get your license plate registered. This is how it works in GA

    Whoever is planning on replacing the front lower control arms on the Element... oh boy you are going to in for a treat. Those babies don't ever want to come out. So here's a video that will save your sanity. Link : czcams.com/video/Mm-3m2fY1Tw/video.html. From now on, that's just the route I am going to take. It's just so much easier. In the video, these guys used files and a broken pick axe. For me, I jammed the end of my breaker bar. No rental tools needed. The whole method is unconventional, but it works. Also as far as the front, lower control arms. You will spend more time than you want to trying to press in ball joints and bushings. They don't come out easy neither because they were never designed to be pressed out to begin with. I had to use air tools to do it! In my opinion and from my awful experience, just buy new front lower controls arms.

    • @BILLT_YT
      @BILLT_YT Před 6 měsíci

      yea... basically any wedge will eventually work to get the unstuck depending on the degree of rust and amount of time they have been together. That being said... the correct tools are not particularly expensive and easily accessibly, I have used multiple methods and the tool seems to work best with the least amount of hassle, and can be easily justified by doing the job myself (heres a link to one thats roughly $20: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B099WQJYM9/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=6547b1001973c3d5b179c467552fcb8a&hsa_cr_id=0&qid=1708987599&sr=1-2-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_1_title&pd_rd_w=bN2dQ&content-id=amzn1.sym.417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b%3Aamzn1.sym.417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b&pf_rd_p=417820b0-80f2-4084-adb3-fb612550f30b&pf_rd_r=5PF012YBXXHM4CRZRWRG&pd_rd_wg=dCpxG&pd_rd_r=29c01412-c92e-4c78-ad88-c0f26b59df22)... as for the actual ball joint removal yea, its a paint and unfortunately the joint is part of the knuckle, not the control arm, so unless you are replacing the whole knuckle assemble, which can be costly and have man attached parts, bearing/hub, etc. it may just be a labor of love... some shops will also remove and install ball joints if you bring them the knuckle. To each their own... the biggest thing I have learned working on cars, is that there is a ton of different ways to get to the same solution.

    Very informative. I don’t know how to do any physical work on my car that hit a hog on interstate and ins totaled it😢. But I called a mechanic shop and they said they’d have to have rebuilders license to work on my car. Is that true? Can I go to any shop to get the work needed on my car done? Also do you think I should bring the “estimated itemized damage list” that insurance gave me? I’m glad I found this channel
