    If your horse is stabled, he'll have to clear his respiratory system first from standing in one place all day. I used to jump on, let my mare gallop as long as she needed, she'd snort and then was ready ..... it's hard to tell from the angle, but is the horse lame? The video is making it look like he is from your perspective. Remember, that these are massive animals and they need exercise. It's tough to stand all day for them. Pasture is good. Some places will take them out for you, so they don't spend all day in a stall. Good luck 😊

    • @AlternativeHorsemanship
      @AlternativeHorsemanship Před 14 dny

      @user-ly1bi3qi3p thanks for your thoughts. No, the horse is not lame. No, the horse does not live in a stall. Yes, the horse lives in a herd on several acres... There are many different sounds and lengths of blowing that differentiate between clearing the nose and lungs, a stress blow, a release of tension blow, etc... I find many people either don't notice in general, cannot differentiate, or create stories as to why a horse is blowing, rather than having an understanding of assessing the horse's behavior, focus, energy, emotional state, and then understanding "what" is triggering the blowing in that moment.

      @@AlternativeHorsemanship sorry, I thought you were asking something else, I had five horses and was around many others for forty years....since I was a kid. you can tell if they're alarmed or just happy, from their breath, but I used the eyes every day. I could tell if anything was up from their eyes. It's part of being a good horseman, to note what's going on with your horse. You use any cues they give you. There was some silly post about horses being just like dogs. They are so much more interesting than dogs. I used to ride in the woods and return home without giving commands to go a certain way. My mare followed the same exact path back to the barn! Humans get lost 🤣
