It's asinine. Run all that way just to drop the ball short of the goal line? It's like people search for something stupid to do.
I don't follow college football at all, to such a degree that the last time I did, bowl games were considered a big deal and one of them (The Orange Bowl, I think; maybe the Rose Bowl) was the de facto National championship game. Or maybe the actual championship game, with #1 and #2 facing off? I'm not sure. This was decades back when I had to pretend to care about sports to fit in when I would much rather have been reading or playing videogames. So I'm missing something here, some sort of context. I went back and checked the video a couple of times, and this isn't explained. Why did Florida State have 29 players out? Was there a plane crash? Did they miss the bus to the game? Did they get food poisoning at a team meal? There is no explanation for why they weren't there to play. And without this explanation, it raises the question: Doesn't this indicate that they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs? I mean, they're 29 players down (Including, somehow, two staring quarterbacks? How can a team start two quarterbacks) Wouldn't they have been blown out badly if they had made it? Also, I don't get why they wouldn't care about the outcome just because the game is inconsequential (in terms of the playoffs). There are what, ten or fifteen teams that have a shot at the national chapionship each year out of over 100? Half of those teams are going to finish with losing records. By the metric of "the game doesn't matter if it doesn't impact the national championship", the vast majority of games played each year don't matter.
I imagine his phone will be ringing a bit more than it was before.
As a die hard FSU fan I've been saying since we got our brakes beat off in that game. "The committee said 13 games didn't matter.. so the players said 14 doesn't either then."
This is a mental problem, not one of physical execution. In an earlier time, sportsmanship and team play were emphasized, but have now given way to showboating and self-glorification. Players were once taught to hand the ball to the referee after every play, and of course that's still the way to prevent stupid spectacles like those in the video. But coaches have to find the guts to enforce such discipline.
Happened in the CFL Too
I know you were a backup; punter but how often were you used?
Watching that game after all the hope of the regular season was very hard to watch
rarest play is a double completed double pass for sure. Need to have a pass, deflection caught by the QB, then another pass that gets caught by a receiver but in a way where the opposing team won't accept the penalty such as a 3rd and 20 where this play happens and the gain is only 8. To my knowledge this has happened exactly once in NFL history by Tom Brady in 2020 against the Rams
Pretty sure the rarest play in the NFL, is people that have caught their own kick (punt or kickoff/FG)
Thank dog the CFL said "No, we are not going to f*ck up the kick off like this."
I appreciate your research and video but it’s kinda dumb. I wish you the best but …….
This isn’t the rarest play in football. Far from it.
In some of these the ref has his arms up. If he calls TD, drop the ball. Wherever you are.
Never drop the ball, but hand it to the referee after every play. That prevents any problems.
2:50. Dear gen z. This is not what tv looked like in 1985. TV was what we called our screen back then.
When I think of Thee Flea Flick; I think of Brady in red hitting Moss for the TD
Dan was a head coach with the dolphins

Thank you for the philly love
Why Are There So Many Empty Seats?
Baker Mayfield led Oklahoma beats mahomes and Texas tech 66-59 with 1708 yards between them in REGULATION!!!! and A&M beats LSU 74-72 in 7 ots and Illinois beats Penn State 20-18 in 7 overtimes is crazy differences in how football is played
Saskatchewan losing the Grey Cup two years in a row to Montréal.
No, bowl games are great for up and coming teams, that extra game and two weeks of practice is very valuable. For a team who feels like, what's the point if they thought they were going higher than it's a waste.
Mariota to himself is one of the coolest plays in football I've seen.
Cool
It was Bama vs ND all over again😂
Where did the name flea flicker come from?
boring...
Great game. Too bad it only lasted 12 seconds before the Broncos were toast.
While there may have been some precursor warnings, DeSean Jackson was clearly the showboating moron who started all this. The man had more talent than wisdom.
I love being right
I just watched your video yesterday about him and then woke up this morning to him being signed! What a call. Keep up the good work!
What I do not understand is why anyone that did that, was not benched for that game, if not many more.
Total narcissism
There should be 10 bowl games total. That’s it. It has to be a big deal again to play in a bowl game
Did a humble white player ever do this?
I’ve never played organized football so I can only imagine the rush you get out of scoring a TD so I can see how you would forget in the moment. *With that being said,* just…hold the ball for another yard? Like cross line, hear whistle, see signal, and then celebrate your ass off.
"_With that being said, just…hold the ball for another yard?"_ The solution is even easier than that: _Hand the ball to the referee after every play._
These players are imbeciles. They're so concerned (obsessed?) with celebrating that they completely dismiss the most important thing in football: actually crossing the goal line with the ball. It's extreme, look-at-me narcissism and actually calls into question how dumb these guys are.
It's one of the plays on SNES Tecmo Super Bowl.
If I were a coach, I’d be showing this or a similar video at the beginning of every season, and any player pulling this sh** would be on the bench for a month.
You didin't spend enough time on the 14-point fumble in the Utah Oregon game. That is the king of 1-yard-line fumble plays
DETROIT welcomes you!!
That lineman getting planted on his ass is impressive
can we only have NFL? I would prefer to not have to look or talk about slave ball if at all possible.
It wasn't Desean Jackson, it was Me-Sean Jackson.
60 yard Magnum!!!
the Bears double doink
Favre did it on his very first NFL pass. Now thats rare
Believe me all of HTTR nation knows it was a flea flicker that led to the most traumatic experience of my then 8 years of existence.
Fun fact: I went to Central High School with Calvin Jones. I had to tutor him in geometry. He did not do well in that class.
Shoulda used football angles.
