1956 World Series Game 5 Highlights (Brooklyn Dodgers Vs New York Yankees)
Ssoooo gooood.. i watched him all the time on tbs as a kid... the best ever!!!
As a lifetime Cardinal fan this was one of the best Series EVER!
What a swing he had 🌟
Poor Willie McGee, hits for the cycle, drives in 6 runs, and is a trivia answer concerning this game.
Clemente Nuff Said. The names in the outfield on opposing teams Frank Robinson , Hank Aaron , Mickey Mantle
Not just Pete, but those teams he played on 🤯
My dad played against Mickey before he was a pro. This took place in the four state area of Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas, which was a hotbed of good baseball in those days.
7 straight complete game wins in World Series history.
❤🖤💚🔥⚾️💯 SALUTE!!!! ✊🏾
harry kalas ugh
Ozzie was the best SS ever... long live The Wizard
40 years ago today!!
To this day, to this day 40 years of the most exciting plays in MLB Ryne Sandberg. 🔴⚪🔵⚾
RIP GOAT.
Best pure hitter of the 70s.
I’d run home from school just to watch the Mick. To me the best ever !
Everything he did is just beautiful, the swing, that characteristic gait when he runs, the gorgeous basket catch, and then his arm, strong and accurate. Add this to his superlative baseball I.Q., and you get the greatest five-tool player to ever play the game. And also the most graceful and stylish.
Stan Musial should be so much more worldly popular.
Watching Glavine pitch is like artistry
I'm 62 and I forgot how big the outfields were. Peace out.
Really? 10 minute long video that only has 4 defensive highlights?
With the passing of Willie Mays, Schmidt is the greatest living baseball player. I'm a Mets fan.
I took time off from work to watch this on TV. I remember pounding the floor and yelling Mookie's name when he got the RBI. Knepper had shut out the Mets in the regular season. The Astros played a great series and could certainly hold their heads high after this one. One of the last true clean baseball season before Canseco, McGuire and the rest of them started using PED's
There will NEVER be another Pete Rose!!
You mean players used to actually hustle after hitting the ball? Where the hell have I been the last 50yrs🤣🤣🤣
And now the washed up roided out man sells flaccid pener pills 😂 "welcome to t-town"🤣
Greatest hitter ever and great person too. Don't want to hear about Cobb or Williams, neither faced the pitching he did, especially Cobb.
I also grew up in the 50s and 60s, in those days eight teams in the AL and eight teams in the NL. No playoff games, no wildcards, very simply whichever team won the pennant went directly to the World Series. There were no mass communications or cable or certainly no Internet, so we only had The Game of the Week, sports casters Dizzy Dean and Pee-wee Reece. Fabulous sportscasters those two were! Damn near every kid in the nation wanted to be Mickey Mantle, we used to have fights as kids over who was going to “be” Mickey Mantle in our sandlot games. Mantle could hit the ball further than you could imagine, he was something over 200 pounds yet for the years he wasn’t badly injured he was the fastest player in the major leagues, lightning fast to first base! Old Yankee stadium was 463 feet to dead center, and it was thrilling to watch Mickey “on his horse“ and track down 440 foot flyballs, no one else could run like that guy. If Yankee stadium had had average dimensions, it is estimated Mantle might have had 800 - 1000 home runs in his career.
Mets just got there 7 game winning streak snapped and the Red Sox have a 6 game streak going. So New York has passed the baton to Boston. Maybe we will get Mets vs Red Sox World Series. That would be better than a boring Yankees vs Phillies one.
Not a big baseball guy, dont know much about the sport. However im a sucker for highlights. Damn. Dude looks so effortless with his swing. He looks like he's swinging at half power but just kills the ball. That's wild.
He would have looked awesome in an Orioles uniform.
I was at that game with my Father and Grandfather. Absolutely crazy sports event, first place Yankees vs Rays tied with Red Sox who are playing bottom of the barrel Orioles. Orioles win, then this happens!
Look at Pat Mahomes Sr coming on in relief! The guy was throwing darts out on the mound.
Interesting that the plate ump was in both gray slacks and gray polo shirt..
his bat speed is actually unfuckingreal.
Dude looked like he pulled a double at the local gas station before the game.
my very first baseball game at the 'stick in the 60s had Mays, McCovey, Marichal and Bonds in the lineup that day. R.I.P. Willie 😥
Rest in peace Mr mays
I just heard that Willie Mays the greatest living baseball player has just died so he’s not. RIP To the ‘say hey’ kid!
With him, a piece of American culture and an inspiration to all athletes passes on. RIP Willie Mays
Watched this game with my dad as a kid in Mass. Great memories.
That’s my uncle right there! Thank you for these highlights! Amazing to see..
12381230192381238901238081293089123882130818 Hi all. Breathe air. To life. God created all things. His son, Jesus, pardoned all of all wrongs.
I've been a Giants fan since birth, but this was the greatest world series i ever watched. Game 7, extra innings, 1 run game, bith teams trying to end 80+ year droughts. How could it get better?
We take excellence like this for granted when it was happening.. but in hindsight it becomes genius.. Btw imagine in a different systemic context that Milledge chase rundown / pickle to home plate @7:50 would have some LAPD / Jim Crow media vibes.. but in sports it's a battle of athletic prowess and misdirection vs good training and baseball fundamentals and teamwork that was set in motion with a nice pump fake to first.. lol.. it's like Maddux has eyes in the back of his head.. This video is a masterclass example of what an asset a great pitcher can be defensively on the mound while neutralizing the other team at the plate.. Vicious ball control.. it's big league heat laced with dangerous precision and calculated spin!! At 300 career wins to 3000 strike out ratio.. he averages 10 strike outs a game or 3 innings or 1/3 credited towards a Win!
My boyhood hero. I always considered him as the Tigers version of Stan Musial (from the Cardinals)
11:42 The pitcher was in the matrix there for a second
My dad was given seats seat by some dude at the legion the day of the original set game. It was a rain out game they played at night. They weren't going many more innings before calling it. We lived in VT, we weren't coming back the next day....fortunately Fisk the Vermont born, NH native fixed that. I was 9, I barely remember it . The most vivid memory was Fisk doing a victory run after the home run around the field and some dude running out there and Boston PD just wearing him out with batons...good lesson for a 9 year old.
I’ve never seen such bad broadcasting in my life. He hits a walk off home run in the 11th of World Series game 6. Calmly says we will see you tommorrow
I'm a life-long New Yorker, but I'm a Red Sox fan because of Carl Yastrzemski.
My hero as a kid. Always a thrill to see him come to the plate, or make a great play in right field. Mr. Tiger.
