I'm not one to cry, but Kaine's monologue on ending E, where she says she swore to be by your side and promises to get you back no matter what it takes - while you get flashbacks of the whole game - thats a special feeling that got me. Fooling you into thinking that self-sacrifice is what you need to do, only to realize you're hurting the one you're sacrificing yourself for even more than if you were to let her go. There's so many stories of people dying for the ones they love - but how many of them would actually agree with their loved ones giving up their life or them?

A lot of the lore for the series is also explored in the Halo books (In particular "The Fall of Reach" explores Master Chief's origins, "The Flood" is a tie-in to the first Halo game, and "First Strike" happens between Halo 1 and Halo 2). They're well worth the read.

Another fun fact: The game's manual made ZERO mention of the Flood, and Bungie worked hard to make sure none of the game reviews mentioned them either. So the game all of a sudden taking that sharp left turn caught a ton of people unawares, as far as they knew it was just a game about humans vs aliens space opera.

Fun fact: "Going Nowhere Fast" was actually a speedrunning competition Bungie ran soon after the first Halo game came out around 2001, when they'd seen how people were posting and comparing how fast they could complete the levels.

1:01:52 you're not alone. I felt the same in this moment. It's oddly poignant to notice the difference between heartfelt words and how those words sound when you hear them. Dying over and over, the messages seem silly and frustrating, but then when it's your turn to make those words you mean them.

Late to the party but I only recently played and finished these games (Dragon Age was more my thing growing up) and I honestly won't be the same for a very long time. This trilogy broke me. Came across this video to basically feel validated in how much I cried playing through them lmao Glad I am not alone

1.) I have played this game mroe times than i care to admit, and Mordins death ALWAYS gets me. 2.) Legion refering itself to "I" after the error. Refering Tali to just Tali, instead of "Tali Creator." 3.) Andersons sudden death absolutely destroyed me. 4.) Hearing Tali go "But i have a home." when she evacuated crushed my soul. ^^^All reasons why ME3 is one of my all time favorite games.

Damn…I played this level back in 2008. Still remember how scary this level was. Plus environmental story telling was something else altogether. You would constantly wonder what the hell happened here.

Saying goodbye to Tali and Garrus will always wreck me emotionally. I hope with the next Mass Effect, we can all at least get some closure as to what happened to Shepard and the Normandy crew after the ending of 3.

I'm not gonna lie to you, old Halo lore sounds straight up like conspiracy theories with all the ancient super advanced aliens and ancient humans and ancient galactic wars and gods and stuff. I'd love to rant about lore but reading the lore isn't nearly as cool or immersive as playing through the stories yourself.

As an (autistically hyperfixated) Halo player seeing you play this mission in particular in the new, bright graphics hurt to watch. Missed out on a lot of the dark, creepy OG graphics, the difference is huge when you go back and see what clues you missed. This mission will always be one of my favorites, and seeing new players getting into Halo play it brings me a sort of (playful) sadistic joy.

I like watching reactions to NieR games because they really prove the point that the Automata credits were trying to make: you are not alone in the world. Seeing people react the same way I did to all these moments makes it hard for me not to cry because I'm reminded of how I felt when I first played these games. NieR Automata is a really special game to me because it's the first game that had me ugly crying no matter how many times I experienced it. Replicant is the same for me. Personal story: When I played through Route C of Replicant last year and finished Loyal Cerberus, I cried like crazy because my dog had to be put down a year prior and something about it reminded me of him. The cutscene with the wolf shade remembering its old owner before it died reminded me of my last moments with my dog at the vet. I had a hard time leaving him because of how much he meant to me. Route C hit the hardest because of the timing of when I played it and my recent experience with loss. Point is, reactions to the NieR series bring me comfort because I appreciate that I'm not alone in feeling strong emotions when I go through these games. Yoko Taro is absolutely incredible at what he does and I'm excited to see what his future projects have in store.

You two should go back and play the games on Legendary. It's an 'initiation ritual' of sorts for newcomers into the Halo community.

As of this writing, 343 has implemented in-game subtitles for all titles in The Master Chief Collection. For Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, I would advise paying attention to the cutscenes.
