VUCA stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous.
BANI stands for Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible.

I have been focusing on VUCA since the 90's and am fascinated by BANI. It provides a context that is more reflective of our current state and I love the use of brittle and anxious, which describe the fear and worry that rests with this generation, and rightly so. As I listened to Jamais, I couldn't stop reflecting on the impact of these changes as they touch our souls. It is one thing for change to impact our body and mind, but what is the deeper effect on our overall well-being? We can certainly deny reality, but we can't escape it. There is certainly a lot of confusion and fear in the world, but truth can not be ignored. Leaders must be able to lead and serve the needs of those they lead, and not be consumed by fear and selfish ambition. BANI is a great place to dive into a great exploration about the future of this place called earth and life beyond.

I lived in the same house as John 20 years ago. I remember him talking about his business idea and I thought he was nuts. I couldn't understand why people would want to go on that sort of holiday, turns out I was wrong.
