    I just bought one, haven't got it yet. But I don't understand all the naysay, for me its going to be a finishing tool for ensuring a flat surface after I do the rough work by hand. Joint a face and edge, plane it to thickness, cut opposite edge on the table, glue up if needed, rough sand it a bit with random orbital, then smooth it out on the drum sander. Useful for finishing end grain stuff, too. Not sure why anybody would ever take more than the 1/64" at a pass on this type of machine. Just use the thickness planer, or a wide belt sander. Just my fish in the bucket. Great review!

    Where did you put.your feeler gauges at or between and what the gap

    • @truckdrivinmilanr
      @truckdrivinmilanr Před rokem

      I put the two halves together and measured the distance between the bearings with snap gauges. Then measured the width of the crank with calipers. Subtract the with of the crank from the width of the distance between the case bearings. Then divide it in half. That will give you the dimension of feeler gauge you will need on one side to have the crank centered. It will act as a depth stop when pulling the crank through. The feeler gauge should fit on both sides of the crank after both halves are assembled. The feeler gauge goes in between the inside face of the crank bearing and the flat face against the crankshaft on the side of the counterweight.

    Got one of these. Thought is was broken and returned it. Got a second one. The amount of slop in the mechanism is about 5deg on the bevel and 2mm across the face. I'm mystified that anyone is okay with the results these produce: I'm getting a better result from holding a chisel to a belt sander, used to remove big chips than these things. I'd take a sheet of wet/dry sandpaper over these. I don't want to criticize anyone personally, but recommending these seems very suspect to me.

    I have the same machine and would strongly suggest against cranking up more than 1/8 of a turn per pass. In this video, you're sanding a very narrow board and can therefore get away with it. But, had you been sanding anything wider than a few inches, you'd be overstressing the frame and - as you've learned already - be tripping the breaker.

    I just picked this up this year and so far I don't have any major issues with it. It trips breakers, sure, but that's when you're bogging down the machine and taking too thick of a pass. Consider a 20amp dedicated circuit with nothing else on it. I only have trips when my dust collector is on the same circuit or I took too large of a pass Besides that, it runs pretty well. Slight tracking problems can be fixed - grizzly has a euw-toob video that shows you how to properly track the conveyor belt. I recommend watching that. I think I finally have mine dialed in pretty well.

Having a balanced circuit load on your breaker panel can help prevent tripped breakers. Especially with electric motors. Thanks for the tip on the tracking vijao. If I come across that problem I’ll refer that. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
