This is the ever growing archive of the late C.S. John Sparkes, an author, filmmaker and farm owner from the village of Chilton Polden, Somerset, England.
Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, John enjoyed filming three minute snapshots of events, locations and wildlife in the areas surrounding his home on silent Super8 film.
Somerset Film in Bridgwater has been entrusted with this huge collection of over 300 film reels, cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes and photographs and is proudly digitising it for you to view on this CZcams channel with the support of National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to all the players.
Over the next year, we'll be uploading everything we can find that he recorded.

052, 067, 085: Anne's Point to Point Pony Club 1979, Sally Winning Race, Andrea on 'Prince Philip'
This film starts with C S John Sparkes' daughter Andrea leading up Mr Raymond Winslade’s Withenwood for sister Sally to ride in the point to point (circa 1985). Then back to c1979 for a few clips of assorted Sparkes horses. Andrea showjumping on Dandy followed by the Polden Hills Pony Club Prince Philip team in action. Andrea riding Dandy again.

At 3.20 - the man standing on the left dressed in a suit is Isaiah "Isa" Lloyd who was an international sheep shearer and was probably a judge at this competition - The Golden Shears. Probably filmed at the Bath & West Show in the 70's. Isa Lloyd was an agent who sold livestock equipment made by John Sparkes
