I know there are many versions of her singing this aria out there already but I find this to be a particularly spectacular take on it, so I wanted to share. "Tanti Affetti" from "La donna del lago" (Gioacchino Rossini) Joyce DiDonato Antonio Pappano Orchestra of the Royal Opera House 25 July, 2012

This is an absolute perfection
Is she in the cusp of vocal changes due to age?
I dont like her voice. I think it is too technical and too nervous, too instrumental, lacking warmth allover
Love Joyce, but in this rep I'm addicted to Marco Beasley
Are there any other videos of songs that Joyce performed at this particular concert?.
There is a video of her singing "Embraceable you" in the second half. Other than that you probably have to search on other websites like vk:)
That’s legato!
vol. up please
This is absolutely biblical and epiphanic. What a beautiful voice thank you for sharing this
This gave me goosebumps, and I usually listen to heavy metal and electronic music. So glad I watched the Hannibal series, it features many great examples of classical music, that I otherwise wouldn't have discovered on my own due to my taste and its stability, if not rigidity. Maybe my taste have changed and just haven't noticed 😄
She's absolutley insane, what a singer she is! One of my biggest role models in singing for sure!!
Ella es mezzo falso!😢
One of the few truly great singers of our era. It’s hard to believe how the art of singing has declined over the past few decades, however an artist such as Joyce proves that genuine talent is still there, however rare.
Much as I like Joyce D and have been to see her, no one can touch Janet Baker let alone Kathleen Ferrier when it comes to Mahler and the Ruckert
I have heard both versions just now after reading your comment. I agree Kathleen Ferrier is better on a dramatic expression and articulation. But DiDonato has a better voice control here and a quasi-violon tone, especially with a much reduced setting (just her + piano) where her voice is more exposed. Maybe if there was a piano + Kathleen Ferrier it would have been better. Janet Baker/Barbirolli is really great (i prefer this one to Kathleen Ferrier, the recording is not so good unfortunately). But again, what makes DiDonato performance very strong is the absence of piano which concentrates our attention on her voice. Another version I like is Abbado/ Magdalena Kožena Anyway, whatever version, i love this song to death.
EDIT : ok you got me, Janet Baker is really good now i listen to her again :)
Hannibal brings me here !!!
sublime
Pretty well sung, but one misses the full orchestral accompaniment. Mahler's use of the crooked horn is so evocative.
Ths is not to say that Di Donato is bad, but Jessye Norman was much more the right woman for this repertoire !
JOSE VAN DAM IS THE BEST IN THIS BEAUTIFUL MALHER'S PIECE !
Also check out Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
She has a pure voice; really pleasant.
Mary Bevan's performance is THE BEST!
Thank you ! Joyce is amazing
Fantastische vertolking!
❤❤❤❤어쩌다 이 공연을 놓쳤을까요? 😢 영광입니다
금년 6월 3일 홍콩에서 공연회를 하네요. 조만간 서울에서 공연을 하기를 기대해 봅니다.
God almighty! Händel at its best!❤
Joyce sculpts her sound creating a tangible dimension to her voice. You can feel it not only emotionally but as if it were something you could caress like leaves or dive into like an ocean...
Maravilhosa, Joyce!!! Obrigado por isso!!!
Simmmmm….
It sucks compared to Lea Desandre's version.
Her voice here reminds me of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf
Another example of a singer who feels obliged to “interpret” the music rather than deliver what was written
Another example of a CZcams user who feels obliged to share his uncalled opinion rather than switch to the next video ;)

❤❤❤Vull veure això a Barcelona 🙏🙏
Very intense and mad
beautiful both of you
У мадам БАРТОЛИ !!! Моцарт вкуснее выходит!!!!!!
She almost eliminated her fast vibrato which can become tiresome to the ear. A very unique and mystical voice and interpretation. I don't know who did her hair, but together with the earrings, she looks like some sort of rare tropical bird, especially on close-ups.
Oh. Says the PR consultant. Based on a profound understanding of Mahler's nuance. Very astute.
Much as I admire Joyce, I am afraid she doesn't touch my soul as does the version by Janet Baker in this particular work.
Sorry but no.
I love Mahler and also joyce didonato
Ich Bin Der Welt Abhanden Gekommen ''I am lost to the world with which I used to waste so much time. It has heard nothing from me for so long, That it may very well believe I am dead! It is of no consequence to me If it thinks me dead; I cannot deny it, for I really am dead to the world. I am dead to the world's tumult, And I rest in a quiet realm! I live alone in my heaven, In my love and in my song. ‘’ _________________________________________________________ These past few months of "lock down '' have helped me, perhaps, understand the lyrics better. I live alone. I do not go to work or to the gym or out to cafes or classes. Days go by when I don't speak face to face with anyone. I often ignore the news media. It's just ME in my studio where I draw and paint. Pascal said that all of our miseries derive from our inability to sit quietly in a room. Wordsworth wrote "The world is too much with us.... Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers" Many great artists and thinkers have benefited from periods of isolation. Sometimes voluntary. Sometimes as a result of illness or imprisonment. We waste our powers with distractions. This forced disconnection from the daily round of busy-ness might turn out to be a blessing. Maybe that's what Mahler was feeling.
Eine wunderbare Stimme. Sie ist ein Star.
Unexpectedly, very bad pronunciation.
Gorgeous rendition! Amazing Joyce!
So beautiful ❤️
Some of those chords sound almost like jazz.

what would this world be without Mahler??????
Gosh that is beautiful. 🥰🥰🥰
Please come to Japan!!!Joyce!!!
Sincerely Thank you... Joyce didonato Thank you for great music... I receive consolation from your music...
Simply breath taking... out of this world! Bravo!
Didi is not mad - certainly not in the bel canto Lucia way. Di Donato is chewing up the scenery in a manner quite alien to French Grand Opera.
