It's funny that nowadays a lot of psychiatrists are willing to prescribe MDMA as well as other psychedelics like psilocybin and stuff like ketamine in addition to medical marijuana being a thing it makes these old documentaries about drugs really look like a relic of the past because a lot of those substances these days are either considered a medicine or even in the case where I live in Canada cannabis is 100% legal and you can get access to ketamine and other drugs of that nature through a psychiatrist. So yeah prohibition of drugs has been a colossal failure to the point where looking back it's actually really fucking funny because the vast majority of people who have used those substances are now able to use those substances legally. And since you can get painkiller prescriptions which are pretty damn similar to heroin the only real drug that you can't get prescribed very easily is cocaine and even then it still has its uses of a local anesthetic that they sometimes years in the hospital I went to high school with a girl who had surgery on a deviated septum and they had to use cocaine as a local anesthetic I've had several surgeries this year plus I was in the ICU for Burns and they were giving me fentanyl It's pretty amazing that one society chill the fuck out about drugs many people have been able to get the medical help they need because the medications that works best for them are no longer considered illegal and or at least able to be legally accessed with a prescription and in the case of marijuana in my country you can literally go and buy it at a store

Now there is tons of research on MDMA and MDMA users. It seems most common long term effects of use or over use is continual damaging of serotonin SERT sites. Lessens the power and affinity overall of your serotonin system. And certain risk taking behavior has been associated with people who take it. However other than that it's pretty safe if you only use it once in a blue moon and don't abuse it and really treat it with respect. Unfortunately the kids in the clubs don't do that. But the world is ever progressing. MAPS is in stage 3 clinical trials and they are showing in proper environment and use and intention they are curing PTSD , depression, anxiety, near death fear almost immediately with a small to moderate dose . TLDR : MDMA does have some negative side effects when over used. HOWEVER, when used properly and sparingly it can help cure PTSD, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND GENERAL FEAR OF LOVE AND LIFE
