Finally, my favorite Tales game is getting remastered. Hopefully, we'll see the 2d games that never got outside of Japan.

For me the three best would be: Vesperia Berseria Abyss I definitely hope the new titles look less like Arise and more like Berseria or Vesperia.

Now I’m waiting for Tales or Rebirth to be remastered so it can finally be localized in English

My guess is that it is somehow easier to port to PS4 and then run on PS5 via backwards compatibility

Graces F is the game that makes me fell in love with the Tales of franchise and it's my favorite game of all time. I've spent countless amount of hours into it and still to this day I'm playing it every 6 months or so. Seeing it being ported to modern consols makes me happy and maybe in the future we could play the other Tales of without needing an emulator. Can't to play Tales of the Abyss on PS5

Graces F is my second favorite tales game, only behind Berseria. I was EXTREMELY hyped when I saw this in my recommended videos yesterday. Also the only real reason as to why it took this long is likely due to how...unique the PS3's hardware is. I'm not sure about specifics but it's a major reason as to why a ton of games are stuck on PS3 right now.

The problem with vesperia is easy to pick out, the story is hot garbage. It goes from politics and intrigue to a fking out of nowhere eco terrorist end boss.

I got to the sewer poison boss, and I literally didn't enjoy any of the game at the time. characters, dialog, most the story, the money system, and the boss system. It all felt padded out so that you'd give up and get the dlc (time savers). I stopped playing and started playing Sand Land. I tried to come back to tales of arise cuz I wanted to like it, but I had to come to terms with the fact that I just didn't want to play it.😢

I don't really care about graphical fidelity so I don't really have any interest in Arise's visuals. Vesperia, Graces, Xillia had more pleasing and colorful styles.

I read the title as the best PARTY of every Tales game, which also would be a cool video.

Berseria is good but it not S tier good. A is right about as far as ! would place it and no lower than high B.

I probably made it about halfway through the first PxZ. It's cool and pretty, but it's so tedious that most chapters are just Slowly Beat Up About 40 Mooks Simulator.

It looks really good, and plays really well. It sounds really good, but had only one or two amazing tracks. The big issue is that the story is really bad for how long it takes to unfold. Similarly the characters are far too boring to carry how long they're on screen. Noah is hideously boring. Mio is cute but also entirely uninteresting. Lanz has a fun personality, but most of his character development is boring thoughts of Joran. Sena is cheery, but a nothing character. Eunie has a great personality, but doesn't have much of a character arc, she's easily the best character. Taion is kind of an annoying stick in the mud, but he's got a personality, so he's still the third most interesting character. The Moebius seem pretty cool at first, but are just so repetitive that they really offer little of note after the third one. By the time I got to Z I was so thoroughly bored I had no feelings about him. The big struggle with making an interesting world is that most of the characters in the game are ~15-20, and have been soldiers for life while living in a colony. It's just so boring and repetitive. If the game had about a quarter of the story/scenes it would've been so much less exhausting. It was still a fun game, but 2 finished so triumphantly, that 3 becoming so tedious by the end was so disappointing.

I was kinda underwhelmed by Symphonia's clunky combat, messy story, and poor pacing

Tales of arise is a tale of two games for me. First half of the game was super fun. Liked the characters, liked the combat, found the story to be interesting with some good mystery surrounding the main protagonist. But after picking up the last two characters and starting the second half of the game everything fell apart. Story went off the rails, combat became spam one move over and over and the final two characters felt so slapped on that they didn’t mesh at all with the rest of the cast. It was such a let down after such a strong start for me.

I really liked the early game, ignorant, jerk Luke was so funny. But quickly the story just became annoying with fonon nonsense, and the Abyss. Symphonia slapped though, Lloyd and Zelos were so fun to play as, Lloyd was generally an entertaining protagonist and Zelos is one of the best RPG characters period.

Wish you'd given a warning about spoiling parts of Xenosaga III, which I have not yet played... Same in your Pied Piper video btw.

In your Arise retrospective, you mentioned that you liked that it introduced minor platforming. A dungeon where you would actually platform around like older 3D Zelda games would be awesome, and could facilitate creative puzzle and dungeon design. As for things I want that wasn't already mentioned in the video: -Casino or any shop that involves trading chips for exclusive items. I am a gambling degenrate (in video games) and I want my fix. The cards can also use 2D art for the face cards (King, Queen, etc.) which fits in with your wish of having more 2D art. -Animated portraits in battle. I believe X2 was the last game to have this? It's a minor thing but it's something I always like seeing especially when you get those moments where you all die and everyone's just done when you look at their portraits -Strategy menu that uses the Xillia style where it looked like a spreadsheet and you could tell characters what to do individually, but also include the option to have presets that can change on the fly if you want to like how Symphonia and Vesperia did (Xillias had this but you couldn't edit "Act Together.") -Ability to change appearance of weapons like how Arise did it. Most endgame/best weapons in previous games look really ugly IMO -Nintendo console version. Fat chance, I know, but it would be killer if it meant you could get Nintendo costumes for the characters. Fire Emblem is one of my favorite series and a costume from that series? Yes please.

I've read that the more modest designs are intentional. Having a world in perpetual war and soldiers living only 10 years is pretty grim, so the character designs were made less revealing to match with the tone of the story and world.

My top 3: Tales of Eternia Tales of Graces F Tales of Lengendia (I LOVE Norma) Honorable mention: Radiant Mythology Tbh, I think I value a good battle system.

My dream is Graces F's battle system, Eternia's story/world, and Arise's polish and visual style.
