Fifth wheel hitch maintenance. This Pullrite Superglide 2300 had issues while trying to couple with camper. Loose push nut allowed too much play in lock lever to release spring loaded hitch.

Makita tools are excellent tools with a plethora of tool types and I use carpentry to landscaping. Updating is not always an upgrade and this challenge proves these tool are definitely an upgrade. This comparison can show we don't necessarily need the upgrade for what your primary use for the tools. The premium Makita tools are far easier on the operator and unfortunately more expensive. Door Maintenance Weep Holes
zhlédnutí 7Před rokem
Doors and trunk lids are a movable barriers that keep the elements away from the occupants. The water that is behind the doors are channeled away from you. Sometimes the water can be blocked from escaping the door layers. This can cause sloshing noises, unpleasant aroma and electrical switches to fail prematurely.
Door Hinge Maintenance
zhlédnutí 39Před rokem
Door hinges hold the weight of your door and pivot perfectly to the latch mechanism. The location of these parts are exposed to the elements and need to be cleaned and lubricated. Clean them with your interior protector product and use petroleum jelly. No color and does not stain clothes as much as lithium grease.

Clever idea Tom
Thanks for the video!
Wow what a royal pain the ass.. lesson learned the hard way fior me to buy a long bed and go with goosebox..
Nice video man. My Dads hitch would not latch in. I saw locking lever was bent and the pin part at the end is broken off.. no where in sight either so I think it bent up and held hitch locked last trip just by chance...Got lucky. Can not believe that a push nut is used to hold the lever that locks trailer to the truck. There should be a castle nut there with cotter pin securing the lever.. That would eliminate slop and the chance of failure. Might just tap and drill mine for one for a piece of mind. Anyways if your trailer is too high when hitching I think that the wide part at the bottom of hitch can contact the lever and break it. My Dad went to hospital last trip and had emergency surgery so I had to drive to ocean and pickup trailer, I suppose I had trailer too high and this happened at that time. I towed few hundred miles with locking lever barley catching. 😮 Glad I dident lose the trailer on the highway. It really is insane a lock washer holds that on.
Ego driven presentation - not helpful for assembly of crank and gear.
🎶🎵Sorry 🎶🎵comment not necessary 🎶🎵I hope it helped you. 😂
Just did mine, your tips on removing the air intake snorkel and the red bulb seal sticking to the light fixture proved very useful. I saw one video where the guy said you have to loosen the front bumper and remove the light housings just to change bulbs. Made me not want to do the job. Your video is much more accurate and useful. Thanks!
Glad it helped
I just bought it. Cant wait to try it. Thanks for showing.
You didn’t have any trouble with lights flickering in the daylight driving mode?
Man you weren't kidding. I couldn't loosen the bulb to pull it out. I gave up.
would you prefer the xnu01z? Im trying to decide between the two
Thanks Tom , Good video, Mine is a 3300 superglide 3300 16K., its been a great hitch The lock leaver came right off as the push nut failed /is split. Im reaching out to pullrite for parts re the pin on the lock leaver appears to be bent , not sure if its manufactured this way . The Push nut / internal lock washer in my opinion is a poor 2 cent solution to securing the lock leaver & lock catch. thx John

Yo también quiero comprarlo , donde lo has comprado ?
I found the promo page www.makitatools.com/promos I found the retailers by me. Home Depot and amazon were both able to get the deal. HD was cheapest
power is a big deal BUT that’s not Makitas strength makita has do much more going for it The trigger, ergonomics, packaging and electronics it’s a far superior tool too any other brand
Expected to see some gift that given to choose with this kit in homedepod(extra 5.0 battery) or acmetools (from different bare tools). Not everyone, i guess just follow some great deals I often watch it on youtube
This kit did have a limited time additional tool promotion. The crazy thing is the tools are all high end. The kit is all good, all tools offered were upper end value items like angle grinder, Jig saw and I selected the 4 speed Square driver impact wrench XWT14Z. Still was not free but you get what you pay for in tool.
That's cool. There is almost ten years between the old generation of the top makita drill and impact and the new ones. Noticisble difference
i choose dewalt
you must feel smart
I see you are using the harbor freight 2 ton hoist with and extender. Where did you get the extender?
Same establishment ( 2) HAUL-MASTER Hitch Extender with Step. Spent a little more, planning on using them for camping as well.
@@tomgould7918 the hole in the end of the hoist is offset for the chain. How did you deal with this sense the extension is drilled in the center?
@@mowens1972 drilling a hole was easy and effective. No sign of structural problems. Soft steel and a circle will rarely cause failure point. I do this 3-4 times a year for hitch and also service my lawn tractor 2-3 times per year. Same concept different chain positions.
@@tomgould7918 thanks for your help. Harbor freight wanted $40 @ for those steps. I went to the local metal shop and bought a 50 inch piece of 2 inch square steel and replaced the original slide.
A pity that the head does not fold
Hi. Supposedly it should go for 1.5cm thickness green no problem.. How is your experience regarding that matter? Thank you
I think this is the same as model DUN461 in the old country. Seems a lot cheaper than the new brushless 3 speed hedger - so have bought this one. Hope I haven’t made a mistake getting it - but it’s for light duty work, mainly an ornamental creeper on the walls of my holiday home
I am glad you chose this tool. I have trimmed all different hedges and vines with great success. It has survived my teenage son and even an event with chain link fence. Not recommend but still cutting. Thought it would be for tall shrubs but works well on all sizes. The favorite part is the landscape grasses and the angle option. I prefer the 3 speed option on the impactors and usually get the more expensive tools myself. This one is great.
Hikari is the brand of LED I used. It is 2 years of service and no issues besides people thought I am driving with high beams on. Adjusted the lights to point lower and have not had anyone flash me with high beams. Worth every penny. I can see the road now, even with the lights pointing down. I did see a notification about the lights being to bright for highway use but it’s too important for visibility to go back to halogen. Make that truck work for you.
How are they still working. I have a 2019 f250 gasser. Lariat so it has the factory fog lights. If it wasn't for the factory fog lights I'd be pretty upset. What brand did you use. Was it worth it. Did you have any problems with them popping out?
And do you still need to counter weight?
Where did you get the extension that your using?
Mine is doing the same thing but when i done that it got worse
I would take it off and replace the push nut. It is a friction fit component. Replacement push nut can be found at local hardware store.

Hows that unit holding up? Any problems? Thats a hell of a hedge you have to trim. You have my respect, Sir.
It is holding up great. It is very well balanced and I use it on almost all shrubs regardless of heights and shapes.
Prop the camera and hold the socket
Glad the video was helpful to people with similar issues.
I picked up the XRU15 with 4, 5.0Ah🔋🔋🔋🔋+ dual charger. I got it for $370 after tax. Feels more balanced with the motor at the head but I think it feels more naturally like a ⛽ trimmer with the motor & 🔋🔋 @ the rear. & there's a wider RPM window on the 15 but I'm sure either 1 kicks ass. 👍👍💯👌
I would assume the direct drive motor would be better. My 18V Makita trimmer motor was covered in debris and I was concerned about longevity. I wanted more power and less maintenance. Goal achievement reached. Thanks
I got another question on my XRU15 it says "steel drive shaft for less vibration & longer life" if the motor is sitting on the head why would it have a steel drive shaft am I missing something? Probably so but maybe you can explain it to me? 🤔. Thanks dude
No clue, sounds like a marketing sound off. Make it sound like they needed a reason to change model number. Can't believe they give such battery incentives with the XRU15. The RU18PY does not have the battery incentives.
Would you still need the extension bar if you were lifting only the hitch itself? I have the super shortbed (5.5 ft). I am thinking the regular 2 ton model will be long enough, but I think the reach is still too far for the 1ton model.
I added a reply and I don’t see it. I just set up my hitch and looked at a few setup issues. czcams.com/video/QxNBAiyALkg/video.html
Your music is louder than what your saying. You’d get more likes without that ding ding ding music. I gave a like anyway 👍🏻 just sayin.
Does this unit bend the opposite direction? I'm thinking about this to cut down ornamental grasses, thanks.
Sorry about the delayed answer, unit was in storage. Yes, it adjust up as well as down.
Audio went south, he need a wind sock
Awesome 😎
Hook it to you pinbox raise it up and drive away in a quarter of that time.
I initially thought I would leave the sliding hitch connected to the pinbox. I have not seen camper photos that have hitch hanging. If you see my other videos, as we go through the ownership process our ideas change. The units need maintenance, never know the lock lever can come lose slowly and not let hitch engage. It would look ridiculous hanging from the camper. It stores under the camper out of weather and view and I can role it out to service it and use toolbox. No one is going to walk into it under the camper. Campers are ugly and only one who like to see them are the owner. Happy neighbors are good to keep. Happy camping.
Yah if it was only for a short time that would be ok.
I’m about to do the same thing man. Glad to see it worked for someone. I’ll be getting one I seen from Oreillys soon! Thanks for the video and great ideas.
Great, glad it helped with safely and effort less removal. I had people share how they would remove parts and slide the hitch off the tailgate. Not god for your back or the paint of the vehicle or the hitch. Good luck with camping with your 5er.
Thanks for sharing. I ordered the hitch and the guy gave me the capture plate without any instruction.
Thanks Tom, now to find new set screw and nylon block. I will try the local RV shop.
One final thought about tightening with the Allen key. Unfortunately I broke off the bolt as I tightened down via the key. Now I have to remove the broken bolt and insert a new one.
Wow, the set screw snapped. I would retap the thread before replacing. Clean out the rust, lube and replace the bee set screw. The elasticity of the nylon shim should be all the tension needed to hold that plate on. Good luck. Remember to check that push nut on the release mechanism while you tuning the hitch components.
Thank you Tom. I was at a loss figuring out out to remove capture plate until I saw your excellent video...Dave
Glad to help. I don’t know about excellent video, but it is Good to remove plate and inspect, refresh paint and add lube. You know once the rust starts, paint will peel fast.
The String trimmer has a fixed position switch with a safety. The switch is on and off function only and has a selectable speed function on the control panel. It is high/low speed with reverse, that runs backwards and returns automatically to forwards high speed.
Does it have an adjustable trigger?
Absolutely amazingly helpful!!!! Thanks a million for taking the time to create and post this video! Just what I was looking for!
I glad to help.
Much safer than snapping a lower back vertebra.
sorry im very confused I just bought a super glide 2700 will the capture plate work? I have a 1995 fifth wheel?
The answer to this question is research in your fifth wheel hitch. The box is where the plate is installed. If your box is different then mine you need the correct capture plate for your camper. The slide is almost universal and the plate needs to lock to or around the plate on your camper. Hope this helps!!!
Hunter, I also have the 2700, Great hitch fo getting to 90 degrees turning. Pulrite determines the correct capture plate based on the dimensions of your kingpin box plate. Exact measurements are quite critical. www.pullrite.com/fit (from pullrite web site) This will get you started. Their customer service can get you dialed in. My dealer ordered the wrong plate, this caused all kinds of problems. A bit of research is invaluable as Tom Stated. Best of luck and keep RVing. :^)
Old Wooden Head thank you after many phone calls and one unfortunate trip to camping world I got one!
Great video I just had to buy one for a rhino king pin. Did you use the optional hex bolts on the sides of the plate?
Here Today Gone 2 morrow RVing I did not have provisions for side hex bolts on my plate. I contemplated having to tap the plate around the king pin but the plate is quite secure with the tension bolt it came with.
Very helpful, I have the same Leland pin box and the same pullrite super glide, do you have any problems using the pullrite and the Leland extension pin box when going down the road. I here lots of pros and cons, it would be very helpful to here your opinion...Thanks for the video...Tom
I have no regrets or complaints about this product combination for driving down the road. Product does exactly as described with no worries. I have had this on the truck trailer on the beach also and it performed well. People’s complaints are usually about needing to be parallel with trailer to disconnect but you can pull swivel pins and leave the assembly on the pin box. I would rather think about simple things rather than how to release slide and then park. Don’t want a daily driver/truck any longer than this truck. Happy camping!!!
Thanks for the reply Tom, a couple more questions, I have a chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5'8'' bed what size is your bed size, and do you have a fair amount of clearance when turning sharp, on the capture plate, the one set screw will hold the weight of the plate up seems like it should have more than just the one. just curious. Tom
Tom Lowe, My truck has a 6 3/4’ bed. Trucks are getting bigger and bigger. The trailer is clear of my cab but you can’t use my equipment as a comparison to different truck and trailer. There is no standard with or distance between cab and rear axle. Campers for 1500 trucks are smaller due to weigh limitations in equipment, 1500lbs Max tongue weight. I am unaware that the 5’ beds could even have fifth wheel trailer due to clearance. The one pin uses tension to hold it on and the trailer hold it in place while in transit. No added hardware required. Was tempted to add bolt but don’t won’t to complicate things and drill holes into box.
