The ending is a little different than normal. My mom came over, and I thought it would be fun for her to try it with me. What you didn't see was her try a spoonful of fermented garlic honey right before I turned the camera on. She was not a fan, and I couldn't stop laughing. My mom is such a good sport, my best friend and she is a pretty spectacular woman! Primo Sale Recipe: cheesemaking.com/pr...

Such a fun video. I loved your taste test with your mom… although I wanna know more? Would you make it again? Which was your favorite flavor or would you try something different? What type of cheese does it taste like? Love these cheese videos, you make it look so easy. I’m just starting my cheese journey!!! Mozzarella this week!!
I actually really liked the tumeric, nutmeg, paprika one. It felt like such an odd combination, but the flavor was great! As far as consistency/texture, it was more like mozzarella with moisture. I would absolutely make it again.
Thank you for this video. I loved. your Mom's taste testing! I laughed!
Her face with her knowing she was on camera, is what made me laugh!
Where did you get the cheese box with the air holes/rack on the bottom?
amzn.to/4cJhERr Don't put them in the dishwasher. :)
Hey Amanda! First time here! We share some subscribers and one of them sent me over! I wanted to mention that our raw milk stays fresher longer if our fridge is below 40 degrees. Is your fridge temp 45?
It was at 43F, now at 40F. Thank you!! Just subbed you too! So love meeting other like minded people. :)
What is ur end products percentage of cheese to milk used?
Never heard of that cheese but it looks delicious. A friend of mine had the same reaction to garlic honey ferment. It’s not for everyone apparently! Your Mom is so sweet. So nice you got to spend time together. Val C
Amanda, these flavored Primo Sale cheeses look delicious! Appreciate that it's a faster cheese to be able to eat the next day, and looks super simple to make too. Your mom is lovely, and I'm sure you adore the happy memories being made with her. 💚
that looks amazing
Don’t change the docket info that’s excellent 😂😂😂
Day 8 bubbles no rising am inconsistent in feeding time or amount . What to do advice please.
Are you feeding once or twice a day? Are you discarding at least half? How much flour/water are you feeding?
This video is perfect timing. I’m about to harvest my first bed of garlic. I would need to let it dry out/ cure for a week or so, Before trying to braid it, correct?? I’m so excited…I did freeze dry my garlic & onion scapes… so pretty proud of that.
You will most likely need to let it cure for longer than a week. Expect to cure it for 3-4 weeks to be totally dry. Once dry - then braid. Have fun!
LOL 😆 😂 Life is stressful enough. Let’s laugh 😂 a bit!!! I wouldn’t make any changes to your receipt. Let people laugh for goodness sake 😂. I have a sign in my garden that says “Hoeing is hard” With a lot of hoes on the sign 😂 Let’s all learn to laugh a bit more ❤ I also have another sign in my garden that says “Gardening, because Murder is Wrong” 😆😆😆😆😆😆 Love your videos Amanda ❤
You are funny, thank you for all of your kind words! Happy hoeing! :)
Honey garlic tastes amazing - even the kids love it. BUT of course it needs to sit for 6 months to a year to reach that candy like flavor. I agree completely with you. My best friend has bees and gifts me a couple quarts every year and I make this honey candy potion. YUM. Thanks for this reminder to go look at my garlic - been waiting for July 4 to pull one to see how it has grown and my honey is waiting for it. I also use it for my salad dressing, over fried chicken, and any other way that feels good at the time. Great video, thanks.
I had to chuckle Amanda, I think the receipt thing is hilarious. I'd get a good laugh out of it like you did, but also maybe just in case it could lead to "issues/confusion" consider dropping the "The" and it would then say "Happy Home" or "Happy Homes" ? That would be a cool reminder on the receipt haha. Loved the recipes and process you shared, garlic is so yummy! 💚
Do you not keep some for planting? They are landrace and are the best to keep planting in the same land.
I still have PLENTY left. I haven't had luck in the past with it lasting long enough to plant....because of our humid/warm region. But I will try to keep some saved for that. Thank you!
I also preserve my garlic in oil the same as you . Last year I did a garlic & chilli jar & a garlic & ginger jar for Asian cooking .Thanks for being you happy ho ❤
I was thinking of doing ginger in oil too, but the combo of garlic and ginger is a better idea!!! Thank you!!
Real Olive Oil should solidify. I put my garlic in food processor with a lil Olive Oil and in eggs trays or ice cube trays and make garlic pucks and freeze. I love it. When a cooking recipe says garlic, I always have a puck ready and no need to defrost. Another tip for you, use wood spoon for honey, regular spoons contaminate the honey- reason for those wooden honey utensils. TY
Thanks for sharing
I see something floating in one of the jars which you fermented. What was that?
That was a dried habanero pepper.
@@TheHappyHomestead thank you!
Great video. I cheated and bought a bag of peeled garlic at Costco. I know it won't be anywhere as good as yours, but it's a start. I am going to process it today. One batch for the freezer ( pucks) and one in olive oil for the refrigerator. Thank you so much for helping me get motivated for this project. Have a good week.
I bought a bag of peeled garlic cloves from Sam’s Club. Processed them with a small bit of oil. Used a small cookie scoop. Mashed the scoop of garlic into a flat puck, and froze them 🎉 Each puck is about 2-3 cloves. Works perfectly ❤
That's no cheating at all...you were quite resourceful. Great job!!
Happy Ho 😂😂😂😂😂 Beautiful garlic ❤
Would that garlic honey help to heal wounds? If so, that would be really good for a prepper pantry since it doesn't expire.
I've never tried, because i would quite a sticky mess. But it's worth a try, I suppose. I personally enjoy eating it. :)
@@TheHappyHomestead I just thought that since they say to use Manuka honey for wounds that maybe this would work and people could afford this more.
Are you saving any bulbs for next year, to plant? If so how are you storing them. We tried the "elephant garlic" this year. So I have saved back right many to plant this fall. I chopped, scooped them with my cookie scooper, froze, once frozen put into zip lock bags. I need to invest in smaller tray toppers for my dehydrator so I can make garlic powder! GOALS!!! lol
I still have PLENTY left to plant. I haven't had luck in the past with it lasting long enough to plant....because of our humid/warm region. But I think this year, I'm going to try. Thanks!
You're going to get someone's hubby in trouble. 🤣🤣🤣
Is it OK to breed the garlic when the stalks are not that dried out? So it wouldn’t be so messy? Just asking. I’ve never done any of it before😂😂😂
You should really wait until all moisture is gone and they are dry. That is what helps them last longer. If there is moisture trapped, then they will rot faster.
"The Happy Ho" HAHA!!!! This is HILARIOUS! I had to stop the video to tell my husband in the other room, I couldn't stop laughing. I'd get a kick out of that. And you're right... life is short, you need a sense of humor. Random: Where did you get that fresh strawberries sign? I love it so much.
Glad you enjoyed it! :) I bought the sign from The Tobacco Barn antique store in Asheville, NC, this past spring. I love it!! Thank you!
😂 I don’t like braiding my granddaughters hair so I probably wouldn’t braid garlic.
😂😆🥳🥳
This made me laugh out loud.....but this braiding may be more enjoyable as no one will be tell you you are doing it wrong, that you are hurting them, etc. hahaha
Hi i’m about to buy some organic molasses from AZURE. Should I buy blackstrap or old-fashioned to make these baked beans? Anyone have an answer. Ty
Either will work...but blackstrap will be the most bitter since it's boiled down more. But both will be great.
@@TheHappyHomestead thank you for your quick response. The blackstrap has 9of sugar plus added 9g and the old-fashioned has 14 g of sugar plus added 14g that’s a total of 28 g of sugar geez do I really want that much? What did you use??????
I bought Blackstrap.
I love having the strawberry tops and then dehydrating them for treats for my bunnies. Awesome video btw. Will definitely try some fermented scapes! Thank you
Have a fridge full of scapes that I was trying to decide what to do with! Making pesto is on my list today! Thank you.
What about wildlife when you're out that early?
I had to go binge watch you today, it was great to catch up!
Yay! Thank you! I hope you and your family are well. :)
Hi. When you put your berries in before turning the grinder on and it got stuck….how did you fix it? I did that and have tried every piece of advice on CZcams and Mockmill website. I have only had it since this February and love it. But haven’t used it in a couple of months. I just forgot to turn it on first. When I tried to take the hopper off and check it, the gray cover over the stones would not turn counter clockwise to remove it. I’m at my wits end! HELP!
Oh no! Have you called MockMill? Try calling their customer support. This happened to me a few years ago, and I think I had to remove the top stone (I think). Call MockMill tomorrow and try to get someone to help you. I hope you can get it fixed.
You could watch Stefan Sobkowiak. He has transformed his traditional orchard to an organic permaculture orchard. If you want to see more of a natural "wild" food forest watch Canadian Permaculture Legacy and Parkrose Permaculture. Why not plant things that bunnies and groundhogs like more on the outskirt/outside of your garden. As for the rain, you can have ours. I'd be extremely happy to have a week without rain. We've had rain almost every day since the beginning of 2023 (the Netherlands). I think only June last year was fairly dry.
Thanks for the recipe! I used one that did not cook beans first they weren’t cooked! This is how I found your video!! So excited to try this one!! ❤
Hope you enjoy
My cheddar turned out amazing following this recipe !
I'm so happy to hear that!!! Yay!
Thank you for sharing..fermented foods are healthy 😊
Thank you for sharing this video!
Black drawing salve works wonders!
What great ideas! I will get back to u with the oohs and aaaas on how much my family will love bot of your recipes. Ty ty Ty!
I love when I get out at dawn. It is as wonderful as u say!
Hey Amanda! Put on some long sleeves along with gloves and get a saw. Cut a 3-4” (or larger) section out of the poison ivy root, and that will kill it. 🎉 We had one as well and cutting the section out near the bottom worked!!! Good luck 🍀
I still have pickles from 2017. Our diet changes from year to year and what we can one year we don’t the next. And when your kids leave the house you start cutting down on how much you can and cook. If nothing else it’s a beautiful picture you have on your shelf. I stopped canning green beans a couple of years ago. My husband said it was too much work for me as he never noticed a difference between home canned and grocery store canned. I would can 120 pints a year or more whatever the garden gave us. I would suggest if you have room to store it can it it will last until the lid unseals.
Our peach tree starts had ants trying to build a home. A virus started and we had to intervine by removing the queen ant and also removing the sick leaves. I think we caught it in time. They look pretty good now. We are constantly checking them.
Such a beautiful peaceful piece of property, it will be amazing living there 😁
I'm thinking it's a groundhog. I had one last year and he would crawl under my fence and eat the tops off my green beans. Made me so upset. Lordy. I worked so hard to make him an all he could eat buffet
Watch James Prigioni! He can tell you exactly how to take care of your trees!!! I love watching him as well as you.
Thank you!
You're welcome sweet lady
Let me tell you about a trick I saw on youtube that actually works. Go to Walmart or somewhere like it and get you some fast orange and scrub the areas until it starts to kind of stings. You might have to do it a couple of times. I had poison sumac so bad. It was driving me crazy. Couldn't sleep at night at all. Great video as always. Believe it or not it really will help you.
You poor girl, poison ivy definitely not good. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼🙏🏼 for a speedy.
It may be time to put Marley to work! We were having a big squirrel and rabbit problem and I started moving our dogs poop to outside the fence perimeter and the critters haven’t been back 😊
Wonderful update, Amanda! I hope you get that critter problem resolved, I'm with you in that they need to go when they become that destructive, haha. Heather at Sage and Stone Homestead did a video recently on making Elderflower Cordial, I bet you could turn a bunch of those elderflower heads into some tasty cordial since you said you don't need as many berries this year. Very happy you've advanced the watering situation a bit, I'm sure it relieves a lot of work. Perhaps get one of those larger IBC water totes and fill that up from your creek/spring so it won't run out as fast when using the hose vs the smaller barrels? Really love seeing the progress of your land, slow and steady will win the race. 💚
