Super Smash Bros. Brawl is, so far, the only game I’ve ever played I’ve given a 10/10 rating to, provided that’s only if you count The Subspace Emissary as part of this game and not its own standalone thing. This trophy gallery theme is a big part of why- there’s a surprising amount of replayability here in getting most of these, and with how trophy drops work in SSE, you’re actually rewarded for playing through the adventure mode multiple times over. Being able to come back and read the trophy descriptions with this theme playing is really something that makes me appreciate the amount of effort that went into this game.

What I like to call the “temporal motif” is so powerful to me. My experience with this game is maybe a bit different then most, I never played this as a kid however I did find temporal tower’s theme before and listened to it a lot cus it was just really epic even though I could still hear the faintest of sorrows in it Have that keep going for maybe 5 or so years until I finally decide to play the game after ignoring it for that length of time. I always knew people said the story was powerful and all that but I still stayed away from spoilers and such and then my curiosity just hit a point to where I wanted to know so I played it. Hearing this motif in different songs caught my attention and the new context of the story and everything made it so when I reached temporal tower, one of the two reasons I played the game to begin with, the other reason being wanting to know the ending, while I still cranked the music up and it was still epic the sorrow I felt before was greater and if anything the ratio of epic to sorrow almost felt like it swapped. Then I got to spire and dialga and that motif was still there really making everything come together. As someone with no nostalgia to the game even I say ya this is easily one of the greatest Pokémon games just overall and I’d say it’s even better then black and whites story which was the one I previously held in the highest regard. And yes the ending actually made me cry, despite me already expecting it to be sad by what I heard before (no further plot detail, just knew it was sad), it still got me. And that’s on top of just kinda generally being emotionally drained and kinda a bit of a husk at times, no other game or even fictional piece of media has made me cry out loud before, that shows the power this game’s story has
