That really had awesome animation for its time. I remember renting this on SNES multiple times and could not beat the 2nd level boss, the snake at the top of the tree level.

I loved this game, but Star Fox came out the same week and i liked Star Foxs difficulty a lot more. This game had a real noisy soundtrack, but i kept trying to get better. I finally heard the "reset" method, but i have yet to go back and try to beat it. And like a previous commentor said; game genie is the way to enjoy this game. Great vid.

I've never, EVER gotten an extra life from the slots, sometimes a blue gem, but mostly the bombs. Gedol also has one attack that is a major pain in the ass, he'll swap bodies with you, and you have to somehow do the same attack he did to swap back into your own body and send him back to his. I can also see why Sparkster returned the magical sword, he knows it isn't his, plus he likely didn't want to get corrupted by the power it possesses. He'd rather just go home at the end of the day, enemy defeated, kingdom saved, no publicity needed (he did marry a commoner according to the 2010 game, sticking to his humble roots). He's an honorable knight.

People always said this game was trash.. I actually let that dissuade me from getting this game as a kid....but I don't know, always LOOKED pretty decent to me, and while it ain't ALL TIME AWESOMELY ROCKIN like fellow Marvelite SILVER SURFER's game music, I mean come on, listen to just this clip from the WOLVERINE: THE GAME: THE SOUNDTRACK... I thought this one was better than the GameGear version, and I liked that it had the jumping off walls, similar to "Batman: The Video Game"" for NES. The sliding endlessly on ice just seemed like lazy programing, and the bosses, seemed like lazy design. I was expecting better from the Sega 'Ninja Gaiden' games, after all they did create the great arcade game "Shinobi", but even that seemed more like a port of Rolling Thunder with ninja star tossing bonus stages.

The American version ROCKED! I spent HOURS when this was released on the old Wii virtual console trying to beat this stupidly hard game, and it was SO REWARDING TO BEAT IT! I was expecting it to be easier than Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 which I played as a child before the Wii era. But much to my surprise and delight, the game was stupidly unfair and brutal, but the music was great, the controls were great, the graphics in my opinion were the best ever, and the game clearly demonstrated that there was a path to victory if you were patient enough to get better at each stage. This actually ended up being my favorite of the classic trilogy, much to my surprise, similar to how Mega Man 7 completely surprised me with how good it was (and also ridiculously hard) and also became my favorite classic Mega Man game.

Once of my favorites. It hold onto AAAAAAAALLL the edginess that the X-Men had in the 90s. I loved that and I still do.
