Bladeless Drone: First Flight
With 4 ducted fans, and some carbon fiber, I built a bladeless drone that I think is one of safest in the world. It uses 4, 90mm ducted fan propulsion units buried deep inside what I call a “bent tube” propulsor. The fifth “leg” is a parachute can. Hopefully I will never need it. With some help from my dad, we built the entire airframe primarily out of carbon fiber and some balsa wood. I bought all the electronics on line and was able to design the drone so that it would operate with a standard DJI multi rotor flight controller even though it doesn’t have vertically oriented propellers. With its top mesh installed its virtually impossible to get fingers and objects in contact with the blades. I submitted a patent application, and it has been granted, patent #: 11,104,432. I think a drone like this could have industrial applications where a drone needs to operate close to people, objects, and in confined spaces to do inspection and other activities.

Yeah i think thrust vents are the most efficient for propulsion. single intake multiple outake
You makers are really great maby you could enhance steering by some way of by having additional thursters where you can use them for horizontal propulsion (sorry aI am not an native English speaker)
Add fuel
Good job keep it up🐓🇲🇽
Very good job, congrats
Not new... we were flying these back in 2008 in my SIM czcams.com/video/MUENNktD6bU/video.html
what is bro yapping about
@@lilsack6582 bro aint no bro, little ballsack
That's a sim dumbass
why not just use blower fans?
Where did he go???
vectored thrust next?
Do you have info about the project? I am interested in the power consumption, thrust power it creates etc.
Why not add some grilled both up and down of all blade
Just a thought, drones work by creating low air pressure above the blades the same way a wing works not downward thrust, your drone appears to be based on downward thrust like a harrier jump jet, just an idea, spread the upper area to the four corners and have a single downward exhaust.
Shop-vac drones
Ducted Fan Hover Test bed
how does it yaw?
that's the neet part, it doesn't
Very nice 👍 Try home plumbing for next time
DO NOT BREATHE THOSE VAPORS
Give it a chrome orb shell and go crazy with it
YOU ALIVE HELOO FROM 2023

Helal sana kardeşim❤
Please use respirator while working with carbon. Lungs can not replace .
Podria aplicarse a una ala delta para iniciar vuelo vertical y luego orizontal .
Great design.
Your concept is amazing getting rid off propellers, it need some adjustments like eliminating the noise and reducing the nose pipes
He did not get rid of the propellers, he just added a thrust robbing pipe to each duct fan and it couldn't even get out of ground effect, absolutely useless
Interesting how are you creating the lift through the suction nozzle???
The lift isn't through the sanction nozzle the output pipes are angled down
Loved your video, hope you are still at it. I am doing a similar project, but with a bit of a twist. Just wish I could afford the size motors you had. Keep it up.
All the bladeless comments there is no true bladeless unless its using an ionic air flow but that isn't what this kid was going for. He was probably intending to do the dyson style but that actually isnt an efficient propulsion model because the boundary layer, entrainments, and coanda effect the fan abuses only really works in low velocity. At higher velocity the turbulence created shreds the flow boundary conditions since laminar flow can never be achieved.
This is a young guy who actually did something with his time and learned through the experience. Please share something that you have done with a link in your reply?
@@rednose1966 Sorry, I don't film my work and share it with the world. Its not needed, no one cares about HVAC, MEP or other building engineering until it breaks. It seems explaining how something doesn't work hit a nerve for you. Fact is its not bladeless. Could never be bladeless, its propless at most as it has no external propellers. It has blades, they are just internal, like jet engines are not bladeless. they are propless. Please tell me why I need to justify use of the language by showing you why you are wrong?
I think the idea was no blades externally, and he did very well.
@warmachined3472 Yes, but that is propless not bladeless, which he did indeed succeed at. I like these designs, but they always tend to take a lot more control, which ends up being a dichotomy since more controls mean more weight that ends up in a fairly terrible loop. You can kind of balance it out by going with a stronger engine like a jet engine but then fuel consumption, etc. If this gets him interested in more advanced jet designs I'm personally totally happy with it. I think hobbies can becomes jobs and he should look into aerospace designing
@@icesnake84I understand the loop all too well. I am on version 4 of my design. I am only using 3 edf's for lift. I calculated thrust to weight ratios and found I am getting over 2.5 to 1 so far. The tradeoff is run time. Less battery weight. Also had an overheating issue because of current draw from one battery so I used 3 esc's and three batteries. My project however has different requirements, I have another goal in mind. For example, I am not using a flight controller like traditional drones. I opted for just receiver control much like a Rc plane. I also am using a pusher edf, so there are two flight dynamics between hover and forward flight. I have two throttles, one on a variable knob and one on the left stick. My lifting engines can articulate via servo control. Would love to chat and brainstorm with you sometime.
Make Little bit large to lift a passenger ❤
Maybe just learn to fly 🤣🤣
THIS IS OUR GOD THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER!
No loud at all!
The drone sounds like a vacuum on steroids
Your bladeless drone still got blades in it...
Bladeless fans still have blades
@@foxxyytofficial Yeah maybe but it is possible to produce thrust without moving parts like ionic thrusters. Of course they would not be strong enough to power a drone.
@@pinguintv4410 Integza did some experiments in ionic thrusters, go check it out
What's the music you used at the end of the video where you showed us the montage?
That's cool, so interesting i love it
Could this work with tiny jet engines?
From a propulsive efficiency viewpoint, the use of the 4 ducts of relatively small diameter and cross-sectional area, when compared to ducted propellors or better still to a rotor of an helicopter, would result in a great deal more energy being wasted, in applying it as kinetic motion. This would severely limit the performance of this design, in lifting power compared to fuel consumption.
Instead of using ducted fans how about replacing them with one bigger centrifugal fan? I would expect it to be more efficient because it is possible to use it to move a greater mass of air more slowly.
how would you navigate it in varying directions in an xyz plane?
@@abdullahhaq7141adjustable nozzles
YES!! Glad you said it! If he is going to rob his duct fans of thrust by putting a lowelly 'car' type exhaust system on it he needs a higher pressure compressor, enter the centrifugal wheel!😅
ad rather risk my finger breaking from a blade then being shred in a ducted blender spining even faster
Not sure if you mentioned it in the video if you did i missed it but i wonder how much it can lift.
Isnt that just directing the flow of the Fans? I dont see how thi is Baldless at all.
How does a bladeless fan work? With blades on the fan... 🇺🇲
lol he basically made a heavy prop guard, if he could build a system that splits water moisture and uses the gas to fuel it in real time and use ai to control its speed and direction then maybe
@@smartwatchonpluto ai is very much not needed and vastly overcomplicates the simple program it would be attempting to replace
I think that is the future
wow y a beaucoup de jaloux en commentaire !!! c'est du beau boulot pour le jeune qu'il est et à son âge il sait déjà faire ça... c'est excellent!
Where is the bladeless one?
Thats exactly my Question

not bladeless tho
