SSW no longer causes shimmering in games. The recommendation to disable it is incorrect. By making this incorrect recommendation, you are misleading people into losing half the fps they could otherwise achieve. Having a second dedicated router is also an incorrect recommendation. Running two separate WiFi networks is a recipe for RFI. Instead, optimizing a single WiFi network is the best way to ensure optimal network performance.

I’ve used VD for +4yrs starting with a Q1 and it works great. Your setup tips are very good. However, with the right settings I get pretty well the same clarity with smoother performance using Air Link at 200mbps Dynamic bitrate (hevc). Each to their own and whichever one works best for you it mainly comes down to personal preference imho. Also, I get the best results with flight sims like msfs2020 with both my Q3 and QPro/rtx4090 using an official link cable connected to my z790mb usb 3.2 type c port with 650mbps encoding bitrate (h264). Bit better distant clarity and 7-10ms lower latency. My z790 mb provides enough power to maintain my headset battery at +80% for +6hrs.

Great stuff. This is my set up, I have the 4080 Super and Quest 3 and so I am able to use the AV1 codec. I also have a PrismXR air link bridge to connect my Quest 3 to my PC and it works great. Wireless VR is the way to go hands down.

I have had nothing but trouble then using Virtual Desktop. Now then I finally reach out to them a mod on their discord claim my router (dedicated router) is the problem even though it works perfect with Airlink... Funnily enough, it looks like I have the same TP-Link router as Mac have a picture on in this video 🤣

I'm using Virtual Desktop since my Oculus Go and I never would have bought a Pico4 if it didn't have Virtual Desktop. All of my headsets have it. One thing I noticed: you should have the 2.4 ghz channel and the 5 ghz channel of your router separated, so your headset doesn't have the option to choose automatically the strongest signal. With my Quest3 there is not much of a problem, but I noticed that my Pico4 liked to pick the 2.4 channel. Now seperated on the router I can dedicate the 5 ghz channel to my Pico4 and have 1200 mbps instead of somewhere lower than 400 mbps. Especially playing Beatsaber with the Pico4 has a lot of latency with the 2.4 channel.

Virtual Desktop is a total must have for every Quest / Pico user. Every other solution cannot compete with this one. The developer is very supportive and cares about every single issue. Tweaking the settings to get VR games running properly on a mid-range PC needs quite a lot more fiddling around with settings and knowledge on how resolution, VRAM, CPU+GPU and in-game graphics settings (especially texture size and DLSS) are working together. Most content creators do have a RTX 4080 GPUs or higher, so almost every game will run pretty good even with high standard settings. But if you have a RTX 2070 SUPER or RTX 3070 Laptop things are very different. You need to consider Codec Type, VRAM usage a lot and in some games like No Man's Sky or Kajak Mirage VR there is no way around using SSW to get a smooth gameplay with a decent visual quality. In the end a lot comes down to personal preference too. Some people may like a buttersmooth 90fps experience more than crisp graphis, others can't stand a single stutter. But i think it's important for the VR market and especially for new users, who may have used standalone to date and want to try PCVR, to know that they don't need a high end GPU to run VR. Of course sacrifices need to be made if you run VR on a RTX 2070 with only 8GB of VRAM. It's possible, but unfortunately not in quick and easy steps.

Yea the bovo m3 sucked hated the feel and constantly adjusting it and poor battery life i have the bovo m2 pro for quest two battery always lasted but it seems quest 3 only last like 30 mins and its done so i got the kiwi with the charging stand

I agree, at least on the BOBOVR vs KKCOBVR. I paid £42 for the M3 Pro and was disappointed with the battery. It would have cost me another £26.99 for a second battery, whereas the KKCOBVR cost me £35.42 ($42.99) and I already have one of their batteries for my Pico 4. I ran it for almost 2 hours last night, after which the battery was down to 2 lights, but the Quest 3 was still at 100%, which is damn good. With the M3 Pro, I could see the Quest's internal battery draining after as little as 15 minutes, even when all I was doing was updates and a little browsing. The S3 at £81 was a non-starter. If I wanted a fan, I could buy the KKCOBVR one in addition and it would still be cheaper than the S3 and not add drain to the battery.

You can buy pico 4 headset for less than $300 during sales... at that price, coupled with quest 3 unreliable hardware makes pico 4 the default winner.

I got the DD Pro and immediately got a loadcell pedal, shifter, and a new fanatec cockpit. I decided to go all in with the VR2 for my PS5 (I use console not PC), and the VR changed everything! Collecting cars and sitting in them is almost as fun as the driving experience. If a person likes sim racing, VR is a must. I have a 72' 4k TV and I still prefer the VR. So good.

New to VR and actually have my first headset arriving tomorrow, a Quest 3. I will be using this pretty much exclusively for sit down flight and racing sims utilizing a link cable to my PC. I currently am very pleased with my dac/amp full headphone sound and mike solution and plan on continuing to use it for my gaming. Looking at the available aftermarket vr headset headband/battery offerings for the quest 3 it appears that the BoboVR s3 Pro and the way it sits on the head and with the higher height of the side straps over the ears that this may be the best choice for combining the vr headset comfort and fit w/external battery with a full size headphone solution. Do you agree with that assessment?

my eyesight has gotten better while using vr, because my eyes focus farther away than I normally would while on my desk.

Currently have a CV1, the pico 4 is coming on monday and I'm torn. On one hand I'm still angry that oculus held my game library hostage tied to my fb account and that they removed oculus home so going forward I wanted to avoid anything meta. On the other the options are to drop thousands on the pimax or bigscreen, or settle for vr that is on par with the quest 2 or 3 and also cope with losing the games that I brought in the meta store. Now that I've written it down the last time I felt like this was ditching apple for android and that too was weighted against losing a library of apps, in retrospect that the right choice so there might be some teething but getting out of the meta ecosystem before they get their claws much deeper will hopefully turn out alright.

So you're using a less efficient codec, just to use more bandwidth on your network? Why? Are you stupid? If your gpu encoder supports HEVC or AV1(quest 3 only), definitely use them! HEVC looks equivalent to H264 at HALF the bitrate! AV1 at even less! In your case, you're running H264 at 358 Mbps. If you were using HEVC at 200 Mbps, it would give you better image quality, since it is the equivalent of 400 Mbps on H264. Synchronous spacewarp always enabled? This setting HALVES your framerate, and does space warping to compensate. i.e it looks like and makes your game play like dogshit. Definitely DO NOT enable unless your PC cannot run at the selected framerate. I would argue it is a much better experience to select a lower 'VR Graphics Quality' setting than enabling SSW. It looks like your heart is in the right place with this video, but definitely do more research next time before giving advice.

At 06:55 you say "game is running smoothly without any hiccups" when you say the word hiccup, there is actually a hiccup. Just found that kinda funny, but I think you should note those hiccups honestly instead of literally saying "no hiccups". It's the kind of thing that breaks immersion and is an issue for a lot of users apparently. It's only a flash in the video, but when you're in VR, you see EVVVERRRY hiccup very easily because it's your whole world hiccupping around you.

Hi! You are sure 75% meta store games are avaibale directly on PICO store? From where do you got this info? I try to search list of all avaibla games on pico vs quest and didn't find any whole compare.

I wonder if we are going to see companies release controllers for the quest 2/3 now that they opened up meta os. I would love to get some controllers with stronger haptics feedback and a resistance trigger and so on. What do you think mac? Heard anything of the sort?

I have WIFI6e and a quest 3. I have ethernet cable connected from router to PC. In VD my connection speed is 866Mbps. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to do to get the full connection speed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
