    I have original Medicare with supplement G. I am trying to get surgery for a complete tear (off the bone). My surgeon tells me that recently many surgeries are being denied by insurance and I must go to physical therapy for six weeks first. if that is not satisfactory I can try to go for the surgery. I thought that original medicare allows the doctor to decide the best course of treatment. It is now three months since the injury and counting.

    HDG is interesting, but as an agent I have seen clients go from Healthy at age 65, to cancer treatment and surgeries a month later. HDG doesn’t sound so great when the 2800 deductible is paid yearly instead of a one-time thing. Still HDG may make sense for some people who can pay out 3400/year. In the example I am mentioning, the client is only paying about half that. It's a lot to consider.

    No mention of the tendency of Plan G to have higher increases than N through the years. That's part of why I'm going with N, I think. But if I thought I could afford the higher price 10-15 years from now, I'd go with G.

    I am leaning towards a Plan N, Are those the only co-pays there are? No co-pays for lab work, Additional Tests, X-rays, etc.. But you would have a co-pay for a doctor referral?

    • @BoomerBenefits
      @BoomerBenefits Před 5 dny

      The co-pays are for doctors visits, what each visit for an x-ray, testing, etc is how the coding is done on your providers side. You typically only have them for those in office visits, but if you have to have testing or visits outside of your office, they could also charge you the copay then too.

    Looks like you are pushing plan G. Higher commission? Try plan G $60/70 more a month in south Florida not $20. And excess charges basically unheard of. And Medicare . Gov can tell one if Medicare assignment is accepted which 98% of physicians do accept. Just type in the name and you shall see before you make the appt. No brainer. It’s mostly psychiatrists involved with excess charges. This is definitely a biased presentation favoring plan G. Plan N is definitely the correct choice for many in south Florida even with around 10 visits a year equaling up to $200 a year but saving around $500/ $600 a year in premiums. Plus premiums will remain more stable as plan G is now a guarantee issue plan and must accept new customers in certain circumstances even if they are a train wreck costing them mucho bucks. They don’t want them but the law says they have to take them. Guess what? Over time skyrocketing premiums. So if someone is very sick with multiple health issues and visits then by all means plan G. But if not Plan N offers excellent coverage. 100% in patient coverage, the same $240 yearly deductible as G and the only difference are the co pays and a much lower premium in certain high priced states. And excess charges unheard of. This was the worst presentation of comparing these 2 plans I have ever seen. 😩😩😩

    We are married, file jointly. Looking at sale of rental properties -- 2 of them and there will be captial gains and capital gains taxes. It will be just one single year of a high income -- so two years later, pay IRMAA -- then how do we manage to get that lowered again as, without the capital gain and without the rental income, we will likely only have one of us taking a bit of RMD plus SS income, PT job income and 2 small pensions -- under six figures. Do we have to file something to have the premium drop again or will it automatically do so since the year after the sale of property, we will file a tax return reporting much less income?

    Seems there was no mention of MOOP for Plan N vs Plan G. So G only has the annual B deductible and zero MOOP, but I have heard others say Plan N has the same B deductible PLUS around $7800 MOOP. Seems her point about the premium $20 difference is a touch understated vs the reality of several thousand dollars possible difference when including Plan N's MOOP. Seems to me the $20per month savings could become a $700 per month MOOP.😮

      We went onto Medicare this past June. We originally were going with Plan G but decided Plan N. My wife saves about $30 a month and I'm saving about $50 a month. I did a lot of local research and all the Dr's we would see at this point accept Medicare payments so no excess charges. Spoke to my Dr about excess charges and his opinion was hospitals are buying up offices and a CPT code is a CPT code. At this point we're OK paying the copay and dealing with being billed for care, it could only be either $20 for Dr visits or $50 for ER visits. We just had an ER visit and it appears it's part of the initial $240 OOP that both Plans G and N patients have to pay. Either way they both should be great coverage!

    I have a question about Medicare claim denials. I'm new to Medicare had a lab test performed and had to sign a ABN because there is a chance Medicare won't cover it. If they don't will I be charged the Medicare approved amount or the full amount as if I didn't even have Medicare? This is original Medicare.

    • @BoomerBenefits

      Hi Rick, Yes it would be the full cost of the service. Medicare doesn't apply an "approved amount" for denied services. But on the ABN it should provide an estimated cost!

    We have Plan G and we love it.

    I think what people also have to consider is that in the beginning, when you're healthy, plan n might be good, but when you get older and you possibly get some health conditions and you want to go to g, you won't be able to, because you won't be able to pass underwriting.

      Plan N is still excellent coverage. In south Florida one would have to have 30/40 doctor visits in a year to absorb the increased G premium. No thank you. Your point may be true of taking a Medicare advantage plan initially and then you’re stuck but plan N is fabulous coverage just as G at a much better value than G for many especially in the higher priced states. 👍👍👍

    Happy with my Plan N. After several visits, only one provider has sent me a bill. Saving about $25 per month on the premium. YMMV.
