If it worked like this, consider how it would continue working farther away from Earth's surface? Instead, they are propelled because of conservation of momentum as a system with changing mass.

re 5:00 Is there an easy answer to their first question, " Why didn't the tube fall into the glass under the force of the egg"? I had to get them flicking the tops and bottoms of tubes horizontally. Maybe some high-speed photography of the "experiment"?
