Thanks for the video, which I just followed in order to replace the Drive Cable - all steps similar to your video except replacing the Drive Cable rather than the Shift Cable. Everything is apart & labeled and I ordered both cables - the mower is 15 years old.Only concern I have in putting it back together is re-attaching that heavy duty spring.

So how’d you take the lower cover off? Video doesn’t mention how to remove the bolt holding cover to metal bracket..

Also, does anyone have the right part number to the belt? My lawnmower is HRX217TDA if that helps

The spring on the transmission came off all the way. How do you put this on correctly?

Have a 700 wire is loose or off the electric start doesnt charge . Dont need the electric start as it is running one pull everytime change plug every year

Rebuild is a good experience. However the aftermarket clone can be an acceptable alternative. A toss up. 🎉

Just what I was looking for… replacing the piece of the shroud and bracket that controls the mulch/bag action.. parts are crazy expensive… about $80 for the required parts..excellent video!!

Steve's Small Engine CZcams will give you the best option to cure the problem, worked for me!

Thanks for the great video series. Just completed my transmission replacement using this series and it was spot on, the order is important and you were very detailed.

Very helpful video. I just went out and cleaned up my pinions and keys. Wheels now work great. Although, maybe it's just nomenclature, but my pinion flats face the front of the mower, not the back, which is what I think I heard.

For those who had a rusty pin on the mulch selector rod and can’t get it to budge, you can cut a slit with your knife in the plastic on one end and slip the cover over it.

I did this without removing any of these parts. None. Intelligence and fine motor skills. If you have this problem, look closely at it for a while. You'll figure it out.

For the love of Pete, the wind chimes are giving me seizers. Cutting the engine two seconds after starting it tells me this failed. Thanks for the effort.

Makes no sense. All you did was disassemble and reassemble the rear wheel mechanisms without pointing to any reason why the wheels won’t go backwards. No cleaning, no lubing. 🤪

1:22 The 12mm bolt. Looking at mine, it didn't appear to be 12mm. 8mm? No, the socket just spins on it. Turns out whoever tried to fix this mower in the past broke the head of the 12mm bolt off. I think I should be able to use a punch and tap it out, but if things are rusty like they are on this HRX217 I'm repairing, it can be an issue. I'm glad I waited to order parts, as I'll need new bolt and retainer. It looks as though I may need to replace the hydrostatic transmission also--one of the keyways where the key and spring sit in the axle is wallowed out, and one of the axle spacers was holding the key in place, and cocked sideways. And beyond that, I don't even know if it works. Going to test it but I'm not hopeful.

I can't find anything related to shop/service manual, only owners manual...

Es normal que gire el cabezal sin acelerar?, ya cambie todo el motor y el carburador por unos nuevos pero sigue igual 😑, por más que trato de calibrar las RPM pero no se puede, si bajo demasiado las rpm en baja se apaga por completo la máquina, y aunque mueva el tornillo del relenti tampoco nada, no se si sea normal eso, no deberia

Thanks for the video! Carb cleaner is mostly acetone. Maybe you could save some $ if you just bay a gal of acetone. Don't get it on the mower deck's paint!

Remove the outer snap ring, drive gear, woodruff key and spring store these parts in plastic bag. Install wheel push and pull mower manually with ease. My yard is relatively flat and not worth the aggravating wheel lock up pulling mower rearward. I could use the exercise. 😮

I have a 1999 weedeater tractor with a 13 hp tecumseh

At the 8:31 mark i cannot get that piece off the shaft. Very seized and I applied some wd40 to hopefully get it off. Really want to save this lawnmower

Time wise. Took 4 beers. Thanks Honda. Should of been a 1 beer job...
