Wyze Cam Pan v3 - Major issue - Does not return back to set position
I just got my Wyze Cam Pan v3. Excited I replaced my Cam v3 looking outside from second floor on to my driveway with Cam Pan v3. However my excitement didn't last very long when I encountered these two issues which are really disappointing to say the least.
1. Even though I have defined motion detection zone, which includes most of my driveway except the top one line of squrares (on motion detetion zone screen) to avoid the street and cars passing through it, but that does not prevent Pan v3 to keep chasing them. I even dropped the motion sensitivity down to 15% but it still wants to chase all the cars. But that's not a big issue as long as it had come back to its set position.
2. This bring us to the second but major issue. It does not return back to the same set position. It returns back to slightly higher position. This messes up everything. Now the street is in the allowed detection zone, which makes it want to chase the cars even more, which makes it come back to a little higher position and so on and pretty soon it is half way above where I want it to be, looking mostly on the street and covering only half of my driveway.
Hope Wyze will fix it soon.

You have it installed incorrectly. Instead of the base that gets screwed in being on the bottom or the top , you have the base into the wall, so when it tracks, it looks like your video. That’s why it’s not returning to the exact set position.

It sounds like you have Pan Scan turned on. Turn it off.
I bought 8 Wyze Cam v3 for interior and outside. Before leaving for vacation I had to reprogram 2 and while away 2 more failed. I called support and she said to reprogram them, how do to that while your away? 4 out of 8 cams need reprogramed not very good odds. I bought them because of price and picture quality. When I get home they will be coming down and looking for cams I can depend on.....
I realised that its been handy having one of my v3's in a smart plug in the event that theres an issue with the camera then I have a backup method of remotely rebooting it when i'm away. Also I set a rule for them to automatically reboot at some weird hour to potentially clear any random bugs
@@platinum2t6 Rebooting doesn't work they have to be re-scanned..the same thing you did when unboxing them..

Great. I upgraded to comma 2 because of not being able to update it further. Because of the design of comma 2, you don't get the errors even if you start your car without booting the device first. It doesn't have batteries too, so over-heating is not an issue, but it is still recommended to remove it from the windshield during hot days.
@@shameedify thank you for the reply, ok, i will try to get a c2 or c3, btw, have you tried comma pedal on ody? i did before, but got a lot of noise when brake...so didn't try anymore. it will be great to have comma pedal to get the stop and go!
@@ucolchen The noise problem has been mostly taken care of. There is little noise only when it is crawling or when it is moving very slow when braking.

In the advanced settings turn off (IR) night vision and you get color night vision.

Yeah, these cameras don't connect on 5GHz. Your router doesn't support 2.4GHz. Most routers are dual band.

It handles direct sunlight on the camera just fine. However, I haven't tried camera staring striaght into the sun if that's what you mean.

Excellent self balancing robot
I understand cutting the POW line but why the TX line? POW is always on when it is powered, but TX is only on when it gets serial input, isn't it? Once you disconnect the Arduino from a computer, then you do not use serial, so the TX never gets lit, does it? The only exception I can think of is if you are using the TX pin for a different purpose, but Nano has plenty of pins, but that should be a very rare case.

We are now in August and I have 4 cams showing the "Red LED Of Death" (no flashing, factory reset can help this). Those cams are bricked just by simply using them (no power outage or poking around to try to do something fancy or flashing or anything... Simple most basic usage... Filming.)... To make matters worst since I am Canadian Wyze won't honor their warranty. Come to your own conclusion. Personally those 6 cams were my first and last Wyze purchases. Definitely not going to buy anything from that company. 4 cams out 6 is not just a fluke. This is serious Quality Check issues. You have been warned.

I am sorry to hear this. I have two v3 cams and they are both still going very strong. May be they have introduced quality issues recently.
CLosing the window and locking it on top of the wire doesn't damage the wire??
Nope. There is a sealing rubber so it is not metal over metal. It does leave some marks on the wire, but the wire is good and the rubber does the trick.

It is still working fine. Over 6 months now. And it should be fine, because it is rated IP65 which means that it is splash-proof. So even with those holes if it is splash-proof, the rain is not going to hurt it, or at least it shouldn't.
I live in an apartment. This seems like it is not apartment friendly. Is it possible to set this up in an apartment that you know of? Thank you.
Since it requires screws while drill holes in the wall, it is better to check with your management if it is ok with them. Alternatively you may be able to use 3M sticky strips, but then you run the risk of someone stealing your camera (but they may be caught in the cloud doing that). You also need to have existing doorbell that runs on AC 16V+ (not on a battery or something).
I need to push the reset button on the back and I can't pull the unit out back out. Do you have some suggestions ? Thx
I am sorry I checked the app and they don't have any option to factory reset the doorbell in there. I don't think there is any other way but to try and pull out the doorbell. Pull it hard maybe.

You can go through the Setup again. See starting from 1:43. Choose a different network when the app asks you to Select Network (2:19).
how long is the usb cable that comes with it and is it weatherproof ?
About 6 ft, and yes it is weatherproof. It is rated IP65 which makes it splash proof. So far it is holding up to Texas weather quite nicely.
I just got my wyze cams, How are yours holding up? I am worried about the cameras breaking during a heavy rain or snow storm.
They are all doing great. Even the wyze cam v2 which are not for outdoors are doing great in their weather proof casing. V3 is without any casing and it is holding up rain and heat just fine.
Orlando was the best tho, at least orcas had shade
