Lovely end result. I got a block of Meeden cold pressed paper. The bit you pointed out around 11:50 is the only place where the block is not glued and is there as the insertion point of a knife to cut the top piece of paper from the block.

The trouble with cheap paint pigments & other cheap materials is that they're not archival quality & won't stand the test of time. Collectors will be reluctant to buy work that will fade &/or deteriorate in a short span of time; buying & using cheap materials is a false economy -- you end up using up more of it in your work to achieve a desirable effect & have to buy more a lot sooner. As the old saying goes, "Cheap is not quality & quality is not cheap". Buy the best if you care about your work.

I tried to paint along but oh boy this is hard. I'll keep working at it, but you make what is in fact a very difficult process look effortless!

Nice color! It does make it look old. I assume it would work well with the transparent oxide colors. I have it in a Spanish brand called Titan.

Great video. I'm using Platinum Carbon Black for art in a cheap Platinum Preppy, but would like to use it in some nicer pens, (Pelikans for example). I'm a bit fearful of the pigment permanently staining these beautiful pens. Any insights?

Brother, thank you for the video. However, I believe you ought to have stopped painting at the 8 minute mark. You overworked the painting by continuing with the thicker opaque passages.
