when the wheels came off the delorean i thought it was gonna fly away. i was pleasantly suprised...
Now tell everybody how long it took to replace the clutch cable in an old beetle, !!!

I remember getting a ride in a VW Beetle in 1974. My ears slightly popped as I closed the door. Those cars were hermetically sealed.
I bought my first Beetle when I started college in 1977, it was 10 years old at the time. On road, off road, through snow and ice and mud, that little beast did it all. I lent it to a friend 20 years later, and she let her brother trash it. I still grieve for it.

Nice detail: The Delorean got its chassis based on the Y-frame of the 70ies Lotus.

Except that the car in the song “Beep Beep” was “a little Nash Rambler”, another vehicle of which I have fond memories.

VW Beetles were last produced in Mexico.
In 1981, I had the privilege of being able to photograph the very first DeLorean to be shipped to America for the purpose of commercials ahead of them being shipped to any dealers. I just took the photos for myself because I love cars and I had never seen anything like this before [real, not just a model] --- I happened to work right next door to the studio in Hollywood which would make the first commercial.
You should share those photos. DeLorean enthusiasts would love to see them.
