As I traverse the cold, rain-soaked terrain, I am ensconced in protective gear, a lone figure against the backdrop of desolation. Ghostly silence pervades the abandoned base. Machinery, once buzzing with life, now lies dormant, entombed in rust and regret. Radars stand like forgotten sentinels, their once vigilant eyes now blind to the skies. Metal walkways, eerie and empty, echo with the footsteps of the past. The perpetual mist cloaks the base, weaving through the skeletal remains of our operations. The weather, caught in a liminal state between rain and snow, adds to the chilling atmosphere. The cold seeps through my suit, a reminder of the harsh reality we face. I pull out my electronic reader, its screen illuminating the murk. The infection level remains perilously high, a testament to the lingering menace of the chemical attack. This place, once a beacon of our mission, now stands as a monument to our vulnerability. As I survey the ghostly surroundings, the weight of our struggle presses heavily upon me. They controlled three planets solely for research and industry, a testament to their immense influence and ambition. e x o c o r p, a private medical company, was reputed for developing groundbreaking technology. Whispers of a project called e x o p o o l s had reached my ears, pools imbued with advanced tech capable of healing almost any condition, including some cancers. This project, shrouded in secrecy, was both a marvel and a menace. While it promised miraculous cures, its benefits were reserved for the universe's wealthy and powerful elite, a stark contrast to my lifelong fight for truth and justice for all civilians. Diagnosed with a terminal illness, I found myself at a crossroads. The reputation of the Glukkons precedes them-shrewd businessmen, some whispered of their ties to illicit endeavors, even likening them to gangsters of old. As my craft descended into the murky atmosphere of Oddworld, I couldn't shake the feeling of trepidation that gripped me. The dampness hung heavy in the air, thick with the pungent scent of industry. Guided by two Sligs, their mechanical gaits echoing off the metal corridors, I made my way toward Rupture Farms. The colossal structure loomed before me, a black monolith amidst the mist-shrouded landscape. Its metallic exterior gleamed dully in the muted light, a stark contrast to the verdant greenery that surrounded it. Inside, the relentless hum of machinery filled the air, a constant reminder of the ceaseless activity within. Molluck, adorned in opulent attire befitting his station, awaited me in his lavish office. His features were angular, his eyes shrewd and calculating, betraying the keen intellect that lay behind his facade of affability. As he led me on a tour of the facility, his words dripped with honeyed promises of prosperity and success. Yet, beneath the veneer of opulence, I glimpsed the harsh reality of life at Rupture Farms. The Mudokens, the backbone of Molluck's operation, toiled tirelessly amid the deafening roar of machinery. Their emaciated forms and haunted expressions spoke volumes, a silent testament to the cruelty that lurked beneath the surface. Despite Molluck's attempts to paint a picture of contentment and harmony, the truth was plain to see-the Mudokens were little more than slaves, their lives sacrificed in the name of profit and greed. And as Molluck extolled the virtues of their latest product, "New and Tasty," I couldn't help but wonder at the true cost of its production. As I departed Oddworld, the haunting visages of the Mudokens remained etched in my mind, a stark reminder of the injustices that pervaded this world. The shadow of the Magog Cartel loomed large over Rupture Farms, casting a pall over the entire planet. WIthin 10 seconds of this coming on, I could see the opening of a movie -- a pair of legs walks over the camera and is heading away from us. The camera starts following and catches up as it lifts around to see the face of a determined, seasoned man walking towards his ship at the end of this walkway. The boarding ramp slowly lowers as he approaches and walks up into the ship. His boots echo off of the steel flooring of the payload area as he heads towards the cockpit. As the doors slide open, the analog and digital gauges come alive with a glow of low orange as the rogue flips a couple of overhead switches to start warming up the fuel pods. He knows the job he just took back in the bar is going to push the limits of his ship, but for a chance to clear his record and pocket a sizeable reward, the risk was worth it (wasn't it?)
