I've never felt bad for any movie character more than deep. Boy gets fucked, abused, used and discarded like a toy made to feel worthless and stupid and every little good thing he holds dear is ripped away from him by homelander.

Since you guys popped up in my recommendation despite the fact I never watched a video of this channel, let me explain what a "Mary Sue" is: is when a fanfiction writer in the height of their hubris insert an original character , or hijack the body of an existing one to become their self-insert, into a pre-established universe that is overly competent or powerful without any major flaws and tends to make the characters of the setting look bad. It's a symptom of bad writing, usually done by 14 year old teenagers(or people who never grew up past that mental age). Most fanfiction writers are women so most examples of the trope are female. To point out the elephant in the room, Sister Sage is exactly this character. I've read the comic book seven years ago; Jessica Stillwell was not a super-hero or even the smartest person on the planet in the comic book. Her character was hijacked by a self-inserter to be suddenly much smarter and clever than she was in the comics.

There has to be a catch to this new Noir character, because…why is Homelander putting up with this version when he smacked the shit out of a guy for being deaf. I could be wrong but something tells me…the reveal of the new Noir is going to tie back to Homelander and be similar to the comics

All the right wingers are like "the writing has gotten sloppy" meanwhile Sage pretends she didn't notice the "you're one of the good ones" comment, which is exactly how a smart person would act after already previously pointing out racist jabs. To have her react to this one would actually have been Disney writing, and the writers here smartly avoided that the writing is still good, sorry

I think the new black noir might play a piece in defeating sage just due to his constant lack of direction and the possibility of being persuaded to do deal some "real" justice
