That's a good point, John. A fixed solution is usually going to be the way to go if the offloading point doesn't change. However, this particular customer required mobility. The barge-mounted conveyor in this video allows the customer to unload barges directly to trucks, bins, railcars, or stockpiles in any location needed! So how come every fitter I've seen is down at the tail drum pulling one side this way or that way.?
It is a common way of tracking the belt (although not recommended within best practices). Conveyors generally don't get the attention they should do. Also, there are lots of practices that work but are not recommended nor optimal. Regards
